Punjab Congress has plunged into fresh turmoil ahead of the 2027 assembly elections following the resignation of state unit chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring. After meeting Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, Warring stepped down after more than four years at the helm, indicating that newly appointed Punjab in-charge Sachin Pilot sought his exit. A rival camp led by former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi had also been pressing for leadership changes. Contenders in fray to replace him include Vijay Inder Singla, Pargat Singh, and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. Meanwhile, Punjab BJP president Kewal Dhillon and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took aim at the internal friction, remarking that the party's factional fight for power will persist.

01:20And then came another pointed message, this time for former Chief Minister, Charanjeet Singh Channi.
01:45A group of Congress leaders led by Charanjeet Channi had been seeking warings removal since July.
01:52His resignation now ends a tenure that began in April 2022 after Navjot Singh Siddhu stepped aside following Congress's defeat
02:02in the Assembly elections at the hands of Armadmi Party.
02:06Raja Waring has described himself as a disciplined soldier of the party, ready to work wherever he is assigned.
02:12But his next exit also exposes the larger problem confronting the Congress, a party still struggling to settle its internal
02:20power equations in Punjab.
02:24India today has learned that former Minister Vijay Inder Singla, Jalandhar Kintourman MLA and former hockey captain Pargat Singh,
02:32former Chief Minister Charanjeet Singh Channi and Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhava are among the names in contention.
02:40The internal rift has given the BJP and the Armadmi Party fresh ammunition against the Congress.
02:47Punjab BJP Chief Keval Dhillon says the factional fight will not end with warings resignation.
03:09And Chief Minister Bhagawan Tmaan has launched an even sharper attack, saying Congress has fewer karekartas, but more leaders aspiring
03:17to become the Chief Minister.
03:29Jalandhar Kintourman, Jalandhar Kintourman MLA and former bomber leader of the party,
03:35because the question for Congress in Punjab is no longer just who replaces Raja Waring, it is whether the party
