00:00The Ministry of Education today held its annual draw for the Junior Soccer Competition at the Ministry's head office.
00:08Minister of Education Dr. Michael Dowlat congratulated the 11 students selected to participate in this year's Junior Soccer Competition.
00:17Dr. Dowlat said the Carnival program goes beyond entertainment,
00:21describing it as an investment in culture, education and character building through music and performance for young people.
00:30In nurturing artistic expression, we are nurturing well-rounded citizens who appreciate culture,
00:36not as a spectacle, but as a living classroom.
00:42Just as importantly, every school's Carnival event is designed as a safe zone.
00:48The Ministry of Education remains committed to ensuring that our school spaces, including cultural events,
00:56are safe, secure and supportive environments.
01:00The Minister also stressed that student safety remains a top priority.
01:07Our safe and secure schools framework is not just a policy.
01:12It's a promise to parents and guardians that their children can express themselves creatively in spaces that protect their well-being.
01:20The finals for the Junior Soccer Competition will be held at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, the 10th.
01:27The event is free to the public.
01:32The results are in, and as expected, some of your favorite steel bands will be taking center stage for Panorama Finals for the medium and large categories on February 8th and February 14th, respectively.
01:43In the large categories, the finalists are in order of merit.
01:47BP Renegades with 281 points, Republic Bank Exeter Steel Band with 278.5 points, Massey Trinidad All-Star Steel Orchestra with 278 points.
02:02Positions 4th to 10th are as follows.
02:05Phase 2 Pangroove, Nutrient Silver Stars, Desperados, TNTech Tropical Angel Harps, Skiffel Steel Orchestra, Shell Invaders and Promont Starliff Steel Orchestra.
02:18Meantime, the top three in the medium bands are Pan Elder Steel Orchestra with 280 points, Coats Sound Specialist of Laventil with 278 and Panbury Steel Orchestra with 275 points.
