00:03and obviously Max Crosby is, you know, what do they say, the pie in the sky?

00:10But I really think, based on how we kind of talked about this yesterday
00:13and just going back and looking at what their defensive end position looks like,
00:17I would really like to see them make a legitimate trade for somebody
00:22that might be a little bit more of, you know, if it's not the Max Crosby,
00:28we've talked about the cave on Thibodeau before,
00:30but somebody of some type of value when you look at this position,
00:34because this is the one position that I believe is so important to a football team
00:38is your edge position, especially a team last year that struggled
00:43when it came to getting sacks.
00:45I really think that the Patriots, I know they're picking up guys off waivers
00:48and that kind of thing.
00:49I really believe they should be looking to actually trade,
00:52whether that's a fourth-round pick or a fifth-round pick for a player
00:57that we can go in and go, oh, okay, this guy can come in and be a contributor.
01:01He might not be, you know, the world beater,
01:05but he can be an actual contributor at that position
01:08because that's the one position where you start to look at,
01:11at least with the cornerback position, you got Davis, you got Marcus Jones.
01:17You feel a little bit better if Christian Gonzalez is not there week one
01:21or week two or week three, but when you look at the defensive end position
01:26and just kind of like the young guys and the inexperience,
01:29that is an area where I would love to see them really utilize a trade.
01:34Season starts a week from tomorrow night, believe it or not.
01:38Is your concern level with the defense growing?
01:42Yes.

01:44It's growing, and it's growing at a very rapid rate of speed.

01:49It is growing because when you start to look at the –
01:52when you look at defense, right, there are, like, main positions we talk about.
01:58On offense, you got quarterback, you know, your left tackle,
02:02and maybe wide receivers.
02:03When you start to look at defense, and you could probably put it in this order,
02:07defensive end is number one on your list.
02:10That's like the guy – you know, you got to have somebody there.
02:13And then you probably – it's a toss-up between a de-tackle or a corner.
02:17And two of those three positions, you know, top three, you know,
02:21positions when you look at a value and need on the defensive side of the football,
02:25you have a lot of inexperience at the defensive end position,
02:29and you have your best cornerback looking like he's probably not going to play.
02:34So there has to be concern there.
02:36What do you make of the interview that the trainer of Christian Gonzalez did
02:42with the Sports Hub yesterday where he said that it wasn't essentially the Patriots –
02:49he basically said the Patriots were offering Witherspoon money to Christian Gonzalez.
02:54So he put that whole thing – I mean, and maybe he's –
03:00maybe he doesn't know what he's talking about.
03:03I don't know.
03:04But, I mean, I – if the Patriots are offering that money,
03:10what is – what's the holdup, and what's it going to take to get it done with the guy?
03:16My guess is it's signing, like what he's getting at signing.

03:22So you think it's down to just signing bonus or whatever?
03:25Not even just signing – yeah, so guarantee money at signing.
03:27But why wouldn't he have said that in the interview?
03:30The interview, to me, is like such a loss for Christian Gonzalez.
03:35To have your trainer go out there who just did the trade him tweet and then delete it,
03:40to say what he said, I would be pissed if I'm Christian Gonzalez.
03:44I don't know how much I buy it.
03:45This, to me, is a former trainer now.
03:48I mean, if – and there were reports they were $10 million off,
03:54but who the hell knows?
03:55I would – I believe if – even if it was the $101 million fully guaranteed
04:03and maybe they're saying we'll give you $50 million guaranteed at signing,
04:08it's not as much as Devin Witherspoon's $59 million,
04:11I probably think Christian Gonzalez still takes that, right?

04:46but anybody in their right mind who knows anything about football
04:50and a little bit of common sense, if you're an agent,
04:53you know that quarterbacks can't get that.
04:55So for you trying for that, it's just like if you're holding out for that,
04:59like, no one's going to do that.
05:01So sooner or later your agent has to step in and go and say,
05:03hey, listen, man, no one's going to give you that.
05:06So if you assume what the trainer said is accurate,
05:08is there any way Christian Gonzalez is pushing it and being like,
05:14look, I'm going to go have a phenomenal season
05:16and get my money up closer to that $40 million a year range?
05:19Is there any way he is thinking about betting on himself
05:22and that's why he hasn't signed this contract?
05:24Like, assuming that it's the exact same money as Witherspoon,
05:27the exact same contract, guaranteed at signing, guaranteed in total,
05:30imagine that that's the case.
05:31Like, is there a chance that Christian Gonzalez is betting on himself?
05:34There's a chance, but Wiggy always tells us every day ad nauseum
05:40that there's no agent that's going to allow a player to risk that
05:44and there's no player that's going to risk that.
05:46And you know why I say no, though?
05:47If he was, I would love that.
05:50I'd love that.
05:51If he's like, I'm going to bet on myself,
05:52I'm going to play this season at the money that I'm owed
05:55and I'm going to earn myself big money next season.

06:08but he's had how many subliminals, how many times have he said?

06:18But what if he, but Wiggy, what if he thinks his worth is?
06:20If he feels that way, why not just say, you know what,
06:22I'm going to wait until next year.
06:23But what if he thinks his worth is $40 million,
06:25so he's trying to get them up to $40 million,
06:27they won't come up to $40 million a year.
06:29And so he's thinking in his head, he's like, fine,
06:31I'll bet on myself this year and push for $40 million.
06:34And so when I kick ass this year, you're going to have to pay me that.
06:37I would say that the current reporting on this
06:41makes me skeptical of the trainer.
06:44Because why would Curran be saying,
06:46are we sure he's as good as Devin Witherspoon
06:48if they're already offering him more in total guarantees
06:51than Witherspoon got?

06:54And the other thing is,
06:56is that if you want to listen to everything the trainer said,
