00:00Vote counting is underway in Guinea-Bissau after Sunday's referendum on expanding presidential powers.
00:08Citizens were asked to approve constitutional changes that would move the country from a parliamentary system to a presidential one.
00:17If approved, the reforms would give the president the power to appoint and remove the prime minister and dissolve parliament.
00:24The poll comes less than a year after a military coup ousted the sitting government, days after presidential and parliamentary
00:33elections.
00:35The ruling military junta says the proposed constitutional change would stabilise institutions ahead of December elections aimed at returning the
00:45country to civilian rule.
00:47But critics say it would concentrate too much power in the presidency.
00:52The head of the National Electoral Commission said on Sunday that turnout had exceeded 55 percent.
