00:11to check it out so I'm a kindergarten teacher and today was a really good day
00:18I sat my class down and I said show of hands who wishes that they were born a
00:21different gender and I would say about half of the kids raised their hands so
00:25for the kids that didn't raise their hands I said okay you guys are gonna
00:28have to go sit on the floor in the corner of the classroom over there and just
00:31be quiet and so then what I did was I had everybody come up to the board and write
00:35what name they want to be called and I said it has to be another name other
00:39than what you are already called so like if the name Bob is on your birth
00:42certificate you can't write Bob on the board like you have to be given a new
00:45name so I had one kid come up and write cookie and I said okay cookie what are
00:50your pronouns cookie was pretty confused and I said do you want to be called she
00:54he they zee zur and cookie said zur and I said okay listen up class cookie just
01:02picked zur's pronouns everybody gives her a round of applause and then everybody
01:06gave zur a round of applause just really like showed me how important it is that
01:13we give youth the opportunity to identify themselves like this and soon I plan on
01:18going to the school board and asking them to let me have legal name and gender
01:23changes in my classroom every Friday so hopefully that goes well but yeah I
01:29just wanted to share
