00:00And we need to impeach Donald Trump now.
00:14I have never been one who is afraid to take the tough votes.
00:18Even when I was only one of a handful of members of Congress to stand up to leadership.
00:26Bernie and Elizabeth and I, we were just three of eleven voting two years ago to cut off.
00:35Are you ready to stand up and to reclaim our democracy?
00:41And ladies and gentlemen, what an afternoon, huh?
00:47In Dorchester, we have gathered with us today
00:53the all-time, all-star team for progressivism, for fighting for the people.
01:03And I can't thank all of you enough for being here today.
01:08And Bernie Sanders, the titan, the titan of progressivism,
01:19who has joined us here today for the final three days of this campaign.
01:28And I'm so honored to have Bernie in here at this critical juncture in the campaign,
01:36as people are making up their minds at the very end.
01:40And Bernie and I, we serve on the Health, Education, and Labor Committee.
01:53And when we have our incredible landslide in this November,
02:00Bernie will become the chairman of health and education and labor and pensions for our country.
02:12He's going to be a one-man revolution.
02:16And Elizabeth Warren, just incredible.
02:24And she single-handedly worked defying all of the odds
02:35in order to pass the single most important housing bill in 30 years in our nation.
02:46In our nation.
02:49That's Elizabeth Warren.
02:52And when we win, when we win, in the first week of November,
02:59Elizabeth Warren will be the chair of the Banking and Housing Committee for the United States Senate.
03:15Aiyana Presley.
03:17Aiyana Presley.
03:20My partner in the United States House of Representatives.
03:25When people walk in to see how to vote up on the board,
03:29people look for Aiyana's name.
03:32Because Aiyana is true north.
03:36Aiyana is what people look for to see what is the right vote,
03:43even if they don't have the courage to cast the right vote.
03:47They know that that is what Aiyana is doing.
03:51And it could be on Haitian TPS.
03:53It can be on Fair Free Transit.
03:56It can be on any issue of equity.
04:00That is who our Congresswoman, Aiyana Presley, stands for every single day.
04:14Andrea Campbell.
04:19Our Attorney General suing Trump almost every day for his corruption,
04:28for his corruption, partnering with big oil, big gas, insurance companies, health care companies,
04:34you name it, Andrea is suing and winning on our behalf.
04:44And this week, this week, Andrea won an historic decision against Mehta, against Mark Zuckerberg.
05:06And I'm very proud she used my law, the Child Online Privacy Protection Act, as the basis for the case.
05:18She took my law and then sued and won.
05:27That is the partnership which we have.
05:30And to Tyler, thank you for your incredible leadership, leading the trans movement, the Christmas Street Project.
05:43How about Megan? Young Democrats, huh? Young Democrats, the future.
05:53And we are right here, we are right here at 103, the electricians.
06:02My father was the vice president of an electrician's union.
06:06And so, Lou Antonellis, 103, thank you all.
06:11Thank you for what you do every single day.
06:14Standing up, Lou.
06:16Standing up for the working people of the Commonwealth, of the nation, every single day.
06:23Thank you all for everything that you do it.
06:26Because this is the greatest gathering of progressive voices on one stage.
06:33Our progressive palooza.
06:36That's what we have put together.
06:38And they are all here, all assembled, because we're coming down to a referendum here in Massachusetts
06:45on who should be the senator for the next six years on the floor of the Senate partnering with Elizabeth
06:51Warren and Bernie Sanders every single day.
06:54We're coming down.
06:58And I think we all want to say it together.
07:02Let's say it, Massachusetts.
07:03Power to the people.
07:05Power to the people.
07:09So, are you ready to win?
07:11Are you ready to put the power back into the hands of the people?
07:18Because the country is looking to us in Massachusetts.
07:22We are the revolutionary state.
07:25The American Revolution, 250 years ago, it started here.
07:30The abolitionist movement, it started here.
07:34The suffragette movement, it started here.
07:38The same-sex marriage movement, it started here.
07:44It's called Obamacare, but it started here.
07:49That is who we are.
07:51We are the revolutionaries.
07:53Thank you, revolutionaries, for joining today in this final, final get out the vote, because we always lead the way.
08:03And this election is going to define the lives of our children and grandchildren for generations to come, because we
08:13have a choice to make.
08:15The three richest men in all of America have the wealth of 50% of our population.
08:24That is a rigged system.
08:27And we see the results.
08:29Electricity prices are up.
08:32Health care costs are up.
08:35Gasoline prices are up.
08:37Grocery costs are up, up, up.
08:40All the while, Medicare, slashed.
08:45SNAP food assistance, slashed.
08:48Educational programs for kids, slashed.
08:52Environmental justice programs, slashed.
08:55So that's what this election is all about.
08:58Everything is on the table.
09:00And all those programs slashed in order to give $1.4 trillion to the richest people in our country in
09:10tax breaks who do not need those tax breaks.
09:12But sadly, Donald Trump and the Fox News cabinet are taking full advantage of all of what is broken in
09:24our political system.
09:25And they're doing it for themselves.
09:27They're doing it for the rich and powerful.
09:29They're making the rich already too rich, even richer.
09:34And they're taking it from those who need it the most.
09:38But there's a nostalgia for a time that never existed instead of the idealism which we need in order to
09:45fight for the programs that families need.
09:47For the poor, for the sick, for the elderly, for the disabled, for all of those who are under assault
09:54right now.
09:54But the past is just the memory.
09:56And their future is our hard reality that we must face.
10:01So are you ready to stand up and fight for all of those people who need all of those programs
10:07to be put in place to take on the rich and the powerful?
10:11So my opponent's campaign though, my opponent's campaign, the outside groups that support it have been fueled by dark money,
10:21by corporate special interests.
10:24There are millions flowing into this race on behalf of my opponent from a small group of private equity firms,
10:36Wall Street executives, who are seeking to steal this election.
10:42They are not grassroots supporters contributing $5, $10, $25 like the people in this room.
10:51It is some of this country's wealthiest financial players who are trying to buy this seat.
10:59And why are they trying to buy it?
11:00Because they know I have never been for sale.
11:16So here's what the bosses are never going to understand.
11:19Their money cannot defeat our movement.
11:24The many will beat the money every single time.
11:36And while they're lining their pockets, we are organizing.
11:42That's why we're here in a labor hall.
11:45Thank you, Lou.
11:47While they sit in their penthouse boardrooms, we are in the streets building people power for this last three days.
11:57The Trump administration has made it crystal clear what its priorities are.
12:03And here's a hint.
12:05You aren't on their list of priorities.
12:10It is time that we say no to corruption.
12:12No to politics of self-enrichment.
12:16Trump is serving up an all-you-can-eat corruption buffet for himself,
12:22for his children, for his cronies, for his corporations.
12:27And the revolution is coming for him and his cronies.
12:41We need to ban stock trading by Trump and by members of the United States Congress.
12:52Politicians should be answering to you and not to their stock portfolios as they are voting on the floor of
13:01Congress.
13:02Which brings us to the fundamental question at the heart of every single debate in Washington.
13:08Whose side are you on?
13:11And for me, the answer is easy.
13:15I have always stood with you.
13:16I have always stood with working people in every corner of our commonwealth.
13:21And I can tell you that for every one of the issues being debated right now,
13:25on every one of those issues, there's one thing that separates us from them.
13:29On every one of those issues, we are right and they are wrong.
13:42We need affordable housing and fair, free transit.
13:47We need free public college and gun-free schools.
13:54We need to make NRA stand for not relevant anymore in American politics.
14:02We need universal childcare.
14:05We need Medicare for all.
14:11When I introduced the Green New Deal with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,
14:20they called it socialism.
14:24Well, what do you call a hundred years of tax breaks for the oil, gas and coal industry?
14:32I call that socialism.
14:34And all we're saying is, give us some of that socialism for wind and solar
14:40and all electric vehicles and battery storage technologies,
14:43and we will bury the fossil fuel industry.
14:49We'll have lower prices, lower emissions, and union jobs
14:55that built the new energy infrastructure of the 21st century.
15:00That is what this election is all about.
15:03And they are saying that they don't believe that climate change is an existential threat
15:12to their business model.
15:14To the planet.
15:14We just saw another episode in Nepal.
15:17You know what they're really afraid of though?
15:20They know our movement, the Green New Deal, is an existential threat to their business model.
15:25Okay?
15:26That we are going to destroy their business model.
15:30Because right here in Massachusetts, we stand for what is right.
15:35When hateful and opportunistic politicians want to erase the LGBTQ plus community,
15:46we know it is our job to embrace you.
15:51It is our job to protect you.
15:53It is our job to love you.
15:55It is not a job of a senator from Massachusetts to demonize you.
16:02And that is why we stand with the trans community.
16:09We need to protect trans kids.
16:13We will not let anyone, Republican or Democratic member of Congress, tell you otherwise.
16:21We need to pass my trans bill of rights.
16:34And we need to end these wars that are endless.
16:41We need to slash the defense budget.
16:45And we need to impeach Donald Trump now.
17:00I have never been one who is afraid to take the tough votes.
17:04Even when I was only one of a handful of members of Congress to stand up to leadership, Bernie and
17:14Elizabeth and I, we were just three of 11 voting two years ago to cut off aid to Israel for
17:221,000-pound bombs being used in Gaza.
17:29When Congress, when Congress first debated the creation of ICE, I voted no on the creation of ICE because I
17:39could see, I could see the seeds of authoritarianism.
17:43And now we know that our citizens, our immigrant friends are being terrorized on the streets of Massachusetts.
17:51They are being terrorized every single day, which is why it is critical that we abolish ICE now.
18:05I have voted against more of Donald Trump's nominees and his agenda than any other member of the United States
18:14Senate.
18:15And I'm going to keep doing that.
18:18But fighting, fighting Donald Trump is not enough.
18:24We also need a bold transformational agenda that puts people ahead of profits.
18:32And that starts with taking back the House and taking back the Senate in November.
18:37A big blue wave is coming.
18:41And we have to do everything we can to create a democratic majority in Congress.
18:47We need to create a progressive majority in the United States Congress.
18:54And Donald Trump, he wants to have the SAVE Act passed, you know, which means compromising democracy,
19:02making it harder for married women to vote, harder for minorities to vote, harder for young people to vote.
19:09That's his plan.
19:10He says he's going to save democracy.
19:12No, he's going to undermine democracy.
19:15They're coming with ICE.
19:17They're coming with the Army and the Marines.
19:19And we have to be ready to respond.
19:22We have to be ready to take them on at the ballot box, to take them on in the courts,
19:28and to take them on in the streets if it is necessary this fall to stand up and to fight
19:36for our democracy.
19:38Because it's not the SAVE Act.
19:40It's the Save Their Asses Act.
19:43Because people are coming for them at the polls this year.
19:47And we just can't agonize.
19:50We have to organize.
19:53Because grassroots activism will always beat a well-financed lie.
20:01And that's what I do every single day with Bernie and Elizabeth and Ayanna in the United States Congress,
20:09with Andrea here, with all of our great partners.
20:13These are the champions.
20:15The champions who are going to work for a livable wage, collective bargaining and workers' rights,
20:21overturning Citizens United, abolishing the filibuster, having legislation that guarantees that paraprofessionals in our school system get paid and have
20:34the healthcare which they need.
20:36That's the progressive agenda for our country.
20:39That's what's at stake in this election.
20:43Dissent.
20:44Dissent.
20:45Dissent can happen anywhere.
20:47Power can be created everywhere.
20:51So let's take it to the streets.
20:54Marshall your neighbors.
20:55Sit in.
20:56Protest.
20:57Withhold your labor.
20:59But the movement does not end in the streets.
21:02It has to go all the way to the ballot box.
21:05And in this Senate race, you have a fundamental choice to make.
21:09A choice between progressive values or the status quo.
21:14Because from our perspective, the age of incrementalism is over.
21:20We have to make a choice between a record of results or rebranded ambition in this race.
21:28A choice between conviction and convenience.
21:32A choice between the politics of transformation or the politics of triangulation.
21:39I don't trade stocks.
21:40I don't take corporate PAC money.
21:42I don't take money from fossil fuel companies.
21:44I haven't made a dime off of my public service.
21:47I take on the public interest for you.
21:51I refuse to bow to corporate power.
21:54I never apologize for my Massachusetts values.
21:57The real change our country needs won't come from corporations.
22:02It won't come from billionaire CEOs or the corrupt politicians who do their bidding.
22:07It will come from those willing to fight every single day.
22:15I was born in Malden.
22:18I was born in Malden.
22:20I was raised in Malden.
22:24I live in Malden today.
22:26I live in Malden two blocks from where my immigrant grandparents got off the boat.
22:33When my grandmother died, five children.
22:36My mother had to be the single mom to the three younger kids even though she was senior class president.
22:42That was the system in the old days.
22:44One of the girls doesn't get to go to college.
22:47One of the girls doesn't get to go anywhere.
22:49Because there weren't programs to help those families.
22:53My father grew up in Lawrence on the first floor of a triple decker in Lawrence at 88 Phillip Street.
23:01They lived in the shadow of the mills.
23:04My father became a truck driver.
23:07Married my mother in Malden.
23:10I knocked on that door at 88 Phillip Street to see who lives there now.
23:15Because my father, he had some opportunities.
23:29And out onto the steps came a Dominican family with their children.
23:44And the accents were different, but the aspirations the same for that Dominican family as for the Markey family.
23:51And Donald Trump, Donald Trump every day is trying to slash the education programs, slash the healthcare programs, slash the
24:03programs that provided protection against discrimination that was built into the law that made it possible for me as a
24:11boy in that house growing up on the porch in Malden to dream my dreams.
24:16To dream about who I could be, to dream about who I could be, to dream about what was possible.
24:22And I was given a strong floor and an unlimited ceiling as so many of you here today were.
24:30And what Donald Trump is doing every single day is seeking to slash all of those programs for all of
24:40the boys and girls on every porch all across Massachusetts,
24:45all across our country, because they are brown, because they are black, because they are immigrant, because they are LGBT,
24:55because they are poor.
24:57And you know what Donald Trump does?
24:59Donald Trump is bringing out the Malden in me every single day.
25:11Because if Donald Trump wants a fight, I'm ready to give him that fight.
25:17I'm ready to be your voice, your vote, your fighter on the floor of the United States Senate every single
25:25day to fight for what you believe.
25:28So I'm asking you today, will you fight to take back this country?
25:32Yes!
25:33Will you fight against Trump corruption?
25:36Yes!
25:36Will you fight for Medicare for all?
25:39Yes!
25:40Will you fight for our TPS holders and refugees?
25:45Yes!
25:45Will you fight for abortion rights and reproductive freedom?
25:50Now is the time, this is the place, this is the time that you in Massachusetts as the revolutionaries get
25:59once again the opportunity to stand up and send a message to this country.
26:05And Tuesday is that day.
26:08I ask for your help.
26:10I'm Ed Markey and I humbly ask for your support and your vote on Tuesday.
26:19Thank you all so, so much for everything that you're doing.
