00:06talking about this, or maybe Monday, one of the two,
00:09I think that statement maybe came out Monday, presser,
00:10because we're up against it, man.
00:12Like, teams are playing this weekend.
00:14And Ryan's point, like, one of them is like,
00:16we need to get a roster set.
00:18We need to make sure that we have the guys on the team
00:21that are ready to be there.
00:22And so, Pat, throw that up when you get a chance
00:26about who's going to be there.
00:27So this is Ryan's thoughts on this.
00:30Steele?
00:33If there are teams that have some players out there
00:36who are cut from NFL rosters that are going to be on other teams,
00:38we have to at least consider it and look at it.
00:40Do I like anything about it?
00:41Absolutely not.
00:42But we've got to do a trade for Ohio State.
00:44So it's sort of a day-to-day thing right now.
00:48And like anything, we're just going to try to adapt.
00:50But I think we would all agree, maybe not everybody,
00:54but that there has to be a certain point where your roster gets locked in.
00:58But whenever I heard that we were in a meeting and someone says,
01:04yeah, LSU just got a commitment from the Browns' tight end,
01:07I said, we are certainly in a different world right now.
01:12Different world.
01:13All right, Steele.
01:13From those things that have happened, the SEC issuing the statement,
01:18Ryan hearing about Lane,
01:19they're talking about getting commitments from the NFL.
01:21And what are your general thoughts?
01:24I mean, Sean McVay said it best.
01:25It feels like you're on a gummy right now.
01:27The fact that we're actually talking about this.
01:30We're talking about this and football's kicking off basically in 24 hours.
01:35But from what I got from it is Coach Day hates this.
01:38You can tell by the way he's saying it.
01:40But at the same time, he's an uber-competitive guy.
01:43And if guys like LSU and Lane Kiffin are going to go out and get these players,
01:47at the very least, he's going to consider possibly picking up one of these guys
01:51that are in the NFL coming back to college.
01:53Now, do I think he'd actually do it?
01:55No.
01:55It seemed like he wasn't very strong on that stance.
01:57But he wants to put Ohio State in the best place possible,
02:01in a place where they can win games.
02:02And if teams are going to get an advantage by doing this,
02:05he's at the very least going to look at it and consider it.
02:08I don't think he's going to do it.
02:10Now, what really surprised me is that I thought I was going to hear a little bit
02:13more of that from the rest of college football.
02:15But then you look at Marcus Freeman, Kirby Smart.
02:18And for the most part, they all just said, no, we're not going to be a part of this.
02:21LSU can do it.
02:22All these other teams can do it.
02:23We're not going to do that.
02:24And I like to see that.
02:26And, of course, I don't know what exactly Coach Day,
02:30if he would actually do it, I don't think he would.
02:33But the fact that all these other coaches are kind of against it,
02:36I like seeing that.
02:37And then, of course, with all the other statements coming out,
02:39the SEC kind of said, oh, we don't really like this.
02:42We're going to do something about it.
02:43And then the Big Ten officially stamped it, said, no,
02:45it's illegal for the Big Ten and all these teams to take in players.
02:49Then the ACC said, you know what?
02:50Hell yeah, brother, I'm going to join you.
02:52Same with the Big 12.
02:53Then the SEC eventually did it.
02:56And then there's some state injunctions stuff with LSU,
02:59where Louisiana's kind of like, like, do you know?
03:02There's still things.
03:03Yeah, there's still things that are going to need to happen.
03:07But it's interesting.
03:08We had Ryan Day.
03:09And I found that, I mean, these things still, I don't,
03:12it's kind of like, you Lord of the Rings guys still,
03:16we need to get you into that if you're not.
03:17I think you would really thrive.
03:20I know Legolov.
03:21Yeah, Legolov, he's the best.
03:24The magical elf.
03:25But you would love it.
03:27And like the ring doesn't, you don't find the ring of power still.
03:30It finds you.
03:31Like in my algorithm, it is so curated to like football, NFL, and college football.
03:38Like I don't even have to find these things.
03:40They just find me.
03:41And so there's three other big time coaches that, by the way,
03:46two of them are in the top five.
03:49All four of them are in the top, three of them are in the top 10 outside of Ryan.
03:51So he's four that all got, everybody asked about it.
03:54And so these four things just found me.
03:57And so the guy that they're talking about, let's just hear the differing tone.
04:01We were Ryan like, Hey, we got to look at everything.
04:04Cause that's my job is to make the roster.
04:06My job is to the team to make us the best we can be.
04:08Hey, I don't like it, but I got to go through this and try to figure out if this is
04:12going
04:12to be appropriate for our team.
04:14So you've got that element from Ryan.
04:18Then the guy who kind of started it all, who is always seems to be like the chief instigating
04:24officer and head coach is Lane Kiffin.
04:26I'm going to break that down real quickly.
04:28Lane saying I'm against it, but this situation is different because they didn't know.
04:32You know why they didn't know?
04:33Because they waited.
04:34The NCAA waited and did it to the summer so that this class wouldn't count.
04:39So they're not part of it.
04:40So their appeal process is essentially, as I've talked to some of the attorneys about
04:43is just like, it's not fair.
04:45They shouldn't have waited.
04:47We should have been included.
04:48At some point you have to make cutoffs for everything.
