00:00Europe's drought has exposed fossils, shipwrecks and wartime remains along the Danube, as receding
00:06waters reel parts of the riverbed that have been unseen for decades.
00:11In northern Bulgaria, around 20 volunteers searched a dried-up bank near Russe after
00:16a mammoth jawbone and tusk fragments were discovered last month.
00:20The latest search found animal remains, including a horse jawbone, as well as fossilized oyster
00:26dating back around 60 to 65 million years.
00:30Beyond Bulgaria, falling water levels have exposed World War II shipwrecks in Austria and
00:36Serbia while the remains of two German soldiers and a motorbike have emerged in Budapest.
00:42Further upstream in Bulgaria, archaeologists also documented foundations of a bridge more
00:47than two kilometers long, built under Roman Emperor Konstantin I in the year 328.
00:53The discoveries come as drought, intensified by human-induced climate change, has driven
00:59major European rivers to exceptionally low levels, disrupting shipping and revealing historical
01:04artifacts.
