President Donald Trump has paid tribute to Dolly Parton following the country music legend’s death at 80, ordering American flags across the United States to be lowered for one week in her honor.

Trump described Parton as “one of the greatest Country singers, and far beyond, EVER,” calling her death “a true loss for millions of people.” He added, “There has never been anyone like her, and never will.”

In his message, Trump also wrote, “Rest in Peace, Dolly! The World loves you.”

Tributes quickly followed from political leaders across the country. Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn called Parton “an iconic leader who loved our great state and nation,” adding, “Dolly, we will always love you.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson described her as “a true national treasure,” praising her unmistakable voice, joyful personality and generosity.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott also announced that Texas would lower its flags in Parton’s memory, writing, “So sad to lose this legend.”

Officials and lawmakers remembered Parton not only for her extraordinary music career, but also for her philanthropy, Tennessee roots and lasting impact on generations.

Her family has requested a private service for immediate relatives and encouraged fans to honor her memory through tributes and support for her Imagination Library.
