00:00Widespread soaking rain with heavy falls in some locations impacted much of South Australia,
00:05Victoria and inland parts of New South Wales yesterday and overnight. And then that threat
00:11is moving into New South Wales and eastern Victoria today. But let's have a look at what
00:15happened yesterday and overnight. You can see widespread rainfall extending from South Australia
00:19all the way through Victoria and much of inland New South Wales as well with rainfall also moving
00:25down into Tasmania. Now into the 24 hours to nine o'clock this morning we saw widespread falls of
00:3150 to 70 millimetres in the Adelaide Hills. Adelaide itself around 30 and up to 70 or 75 millimetres in
00:38the hills. Further eastwards through Victoria most areas saw 10 to 20 millimetres across the state,
00:44higher falls in the northeastern part of the state with falls of up to 50 millimetres there and 30
00:48millimetres up around the Grampians. While into New South Wales generally 10 to 20 millimetres through
00:54inland areas I should say 5 to 15 for western areas. While up in our Alpine areas once again we
01:00saw
01:00around Threadboat getting around 60 millimetres and all of that is into 24 hours to nine o'clock this
01:05morning. Now all this widespread rainfall on already saturated soils and catchments has led to numerous
01:11rivers experiencing minor flooding. Now we have a number of minor flood warnings current to parts of New
01:17South Wales, much of northern Victoria and even into parts of South Australia as well. In South Australia
01:23we have the Torrens River and the Onkaparinga River experiencing minor flooding there. In Victoria
01:29we have the Avoca, parts of the Murray, also the King and Kiwa River experiencing minor flooding. And in
01:36New South Wales we have the Chimit River also experiencing minor flooding there. And further rainfall
01:41today and tonight could see a renewed river level rises on our already flooded rivers, creeks and streams,
01:47particularly across northern Victoria and inland parts of New South Wales. So if you live on or near
01:53rivers and creeks and streams across northern Victoria or southeastern parts of New South Wales,
01:58make sure you stay up to date latest forecasts and warnings and any issues with your local
02:02emergency services there. But the other threat today is going to be severe thunderstorms. So looking at all
02:08that in more detail, today's thunderstorm forecast map shows a large area of thunderstorms expected
02:14across much of inland Queensland, all of inland New South Wales and just getting up into northern parts
02:19of Victoria. Now in the yellow highlighted area we could see severe thunderstorms possible, while in the
02:25red highlighted area we could see severe thunderstorms likely. Now this means we could have thunderstorms
02:30producing heavy rain, damaging winds and if storms get organised enough we could even see some large
02:35hail through these red highlighted areas. So not everyone will get the storm today, but if you are
02:40expecting or do experience a thunderstorm today, we could see heavy rain, damaging winds and possibly
02:46large hail in these red and yellow highlighted areas. But let's look at all of this in more detail.
02:52So this morning the low is moving through the Mildura area with wrapping rain on the backside with a very
02:56large band of rain and storm activity ahead of that low as it moves through eastern parts of New South
03:02Wales
03:02and also into northern parts of Victoria as well and some welcome rainfall through inland parts of
03:08Queensland where we know it has been fairly dry. Now this is six o'clock tonight, then as we move
03:12into
03:13the evening and overnight hours that band of rain and storms will continue moving eastwards into eastern
03:18parts of New South Wales and southeastern inland Queensland as well, you know with some light to moderate
03:24falls there. But notice conditions quickly easing through much of Victoria, Tasmania, inland New South Wales and
03:31South Australia as well as high pressure moves in. And by the time we get to Wednesday afternoon,
03:36you'll note the rain has cleared pretty much all of eastern and southeastern Australia. But how much
03:40rainfall are we looking at? Well firstly before that we look at some of the we can see widespread falls
03:46around 10 to 20 millimetres, particularly through our inland areas of New South Wales and southern inland
03:51Queensland with heavier falls possible, particularly through northern and northeastern parts of Victoria.
03:56And that's where we have that already ongoing flood threat. Well notice only light falls expected with
04:01showers continuing today through parts of South Australia and also only lighter falls through parts of
04:06Tasmania as well. But some welcome rainfall through parts of the Darling Downs, northwest slopes and plains and
04:12northeastern New South Wales where it has been so dry over the last few months. Now all this rain and
04:18storms
04:18will have a few impacts. Firstly further riverine flooding as I showed you earlier, so make sure you stay up
04:23to date,
04:23latest forecasts and warnings and any advice from your local emergency services. Some of the thunderstorms
04:28today could lead to flash flooding through inland parts of New South Wales and northern parts of
04:33Victoria. And for many this is going to be our first outbreak of spring-like thunderstorm activity,
04:38something we're going to see a lot more of as we move into September, October and November.
04:42So with all the rain and storms around much of southeastern Australia today and tomorrow,
04:47and a bit of flooding ongoing through parts of Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales,
