00:00On the 27th of December, 2025, police and emergency services were called to an address
00:05on Gore Street in Port Macquarie in relation to a woman who had sustained some serious injuries.
00:12She was transported to Port Macquarie Hospital, where she later died. Investigations commenced
00:17in relation to the circumstances surrounding her death, and Strife Force Hazen was established
00:22by Port Macquarie detectives to investigate that. This morning, a 47-year-old man was arrested
00:30aboard a houseboat in Port Macquarie, and he's been brought back to Port Macquarie Police
00:35Station, where he is going to be charged with murder, domestic violence, and also assault
00:42occasioning actual bodily harm. We believe at this time that he was residing on the houseboat.
00:47They were known to each other and believed to be in a relationship at the time. Suspicious
00:53deaths are very complex investigations, and there was an ongoing investigation which
00:59we have to rely on evidence, and whilst there were some preliminary findings in relation
01:04to the post-mortem, we only very recently received the actual final findings, and that information
01:09has been reviewed, and we've acted on that, which has led to the arrest today.
01:12So, I can say that the cause of death, which is determined in the final findings, was as
01:18a result of blunt force trauma injuries, which is believed to be as a result of an assault.
01:23We have been working closely with the family throughout the investigation, and we'll continue
01:28to engage with and support them. And obviously, it's a very sad time for them, and it's been
01:34a very difficult process. And we acknowledge the fact that it's a very traumatic time for them.
