A growing Republican backlash is erupting after President Donald Trump announced a temporary move to lower U.S. ground beef prices by allowing up to 300,000 metric tons of imported beef into the country without an out-of-quota tariff over the next 90 days. Rep. Thomas Massie and former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene have sharply criticized the policy, warning that cheaper foreign beef could undercut American cattle ranchers and producers already facing high costs. With U.S. cattle herds at historically low levels and ground beef prices hitting record highs, Trump says the move will provide relief for working families while giving the American beef industry time to rebuild.

00:00The latest thing the government is going to tell you you have to accept, here it is.
00:05You're going to eat foreign ground beef and you're going to like it.
00:09And they're telling you that it's going to lower beef prices.
00:13You talk about America last, that's about as America last as you can get.
00:17When the President of the United States is undercutting our own ranchers, our own beef farmers,
00:25Americans who are trying to raise their cattle under the smallest herds since 1951,
00:32trying to raise their cattle under a New World screw worm threat.
00:35And now they're having to compete against foreign countries who have been guaranteed by the President
00:42that it's 25% less than the market price. This is outrageous.
00:47Republicans were elected in 2024 for one reason, and it was for Make America Great Again.
00:53And the key word in that four word statement is America.
00:57That means Americans. And that includes American ranchers.
01:01That includes the food that we eat. Remember Maha, Make America Healthy Again?
01:06Well let me tell you something, people like me that very much believe in that message
01:10and support our farmers and ranchers, we want to eat beef that's grown right here at home.
01:16We want our farmers and ranchers to be able to sustain themselves and their herds and feed their families.
01:22And we very much care, care about the fact that food that is being imported in our country, we care
01:29about where it's from.
01:30We want to know the conditions it was raised in, what it was fed, what chemicals, what type of antibiotics,
01:37and how it was processed.
01:38I literally cannot get over the fact that people sit here and defend this stuff.
01:45You know, if you care about our country, then you care about our farmers, and you care about our ranchers,
01:50and you very much want them to be successful.
01:53But government intervention like this subsidizing foreign beef imports is one of the most repulsive things that I've seen out
02:00of this administration.
02:01And I cannot believe it.
02:03Trump announced earlier that he's going to allow the importation of 300,000 tons of foreign beef.
02:14country of origin, still unknown.
02:17We don't know.
02:18But I can assume it's probably Argentina, the country with the most Zionist president ever, as he has self-proclaimed.
02:26Guys, this is a slap in the face to all of our own ranchers and farmers.
02:31You know, Thomas Massey just had a bill that would have allowed the farmers and ranchers to sell directly to
02:36the consumer in the communities that they produce this food.
02:40And just cut out the middlemen entirely.
02:42That there would bring down prices and make accessibility to good high-quality beef much easier.
02:49I mean, going for foreign beef, I mean, we don't even know exactly where it's coming from.
02:54What kind of regulations?
02:55I mean, what kind of standards are they held to?
02:57I mean, we have some of the best beef in the world growing right here in America.
03:00But they make it so goddamn hard for the consumer to get to these mom-and-pop ranches, these legacy
03:08ranches who've been doing it for generations.
03:11And all we're really left with is to go with the big corporate farms, right?
03:16There's like three or four of them who own basically almost all the slaughterhouses.
03:21So all the meat in the supermarket comes from just a few select people.
03:26And it's usually full of hormones and all kinds of shit.
03:29Not healthy.
03:31So I don't know what you're thinking, Mr. President, but you just pissed a lot of people off.
03:36A lot of our ranchers and farmers, I don't think you'll find any of them that would agree with what
03:41you just did.
03:42It seems to benefit a certain select group of people.
03:46But we're not even going to go there, right?
03:49So, yeah.
03:50What the hell, Trump?
03:51I'm Chris Gibbs here in Ohio, where we've got the trifecta of stupid.
03:56But first, I want you to meet my cows.
03:58They're pasture-fed, making the best use possible of non-cropland with no chemical applications.
04:04And they're working hard every day to do everything right to feed you, a nation, and beyond.
04:10And what do we get for it here in Ohio?
04:12We get Vivek Ramaswamy, who believes my livelihood is immoral.
04:16Because he believes these animals were put on the earth to be worshipped and not used to sustain us.
04:23And by the way, they make terrible house pets.
04:26And beyond that, we've got John Euston, who never saw a retaliatory reciprocal tariff he didn't like.
04:31And now, their daddy, Trump, is going to import beef from other countries like Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, and Uruguay
04:38to make sure I'm not making too much money.
04:42Somebody help me make sense of it.
