00:00I'd say the biggest accomplishment yesterday was I felt like the past defense held its own against Joe Burrow and
00:09a group that Ben Johnson referred to as the best pair of wide receivers in the NFL and Jamar Chase
00:16and Tee Higgins.
00:17There were completions that were made, but you didn't see Jamar or Tee taking the top off the defense. You
00:28saw Jalen Johnson pretty sticky in man coverage, like there was a back shoulder fade down the sideline to Tee
00:37Higgins.
00:38It was completed. It was probably 17 yards or so, but Tyreek Stevenson had what I think they would refer
00:49to really good coverage.
00:50I mean, he was all over Higgins. You're dealing with a six foot four wide receiver and one of the
00:56most accurate passers in the league in Joe Burrow.
00:59So I evaluate that rep as I think Tyreek did what he was supposed to do. Would there be a
01:04coaching point to take it up another level?
01:07Absolutely. There always is, but he was all over him. So I felt like from that standpoint, when you mixed
01:14in some pressures where Burrow, there were some coverage sacks, like these weren't sacks that were necessarily generated because the
01:25Bears won their one-on-one on the line.
01:28Immediately, they were created because things were covered up downfield. So I thought that was a big positive that I'm
01:39sure Dennis Allen, Ben Jantz, and Ryan Poles, and others walked away feeling pretty satisfied about.
01:46Brad, if that practice were a game, did they win?
01:51Oh boy. You know, I only, because of the way the fields were designed and because I wanted to, you
01:59know, not miss anything, I only watched the Bears defense until the very end when they had the first units
02:07from both sides on the same field.
02:10I'd say they, you know, it was a close game because you heard that Caleb was hot in the seven
02:17-on-seven in the red zone, but there at the end, the Bears offense did nothing.
02:24They really didn't have a solution for Dexter Lawrence inside. That being said, they also didn't spend an entire week
02:32meeting and practicing and planning to not let Dexter Lawrence derail their game plan.
02:41But again, like, if you haven't had questions about this past defense and how the coverage was going to be
02:52married together with the pass rush, you haven't been paying attention.
02:56And that group, I thought, accounted pretty well for itself.
