00:00We didn't done their season, we just done the chances of winning the American League East.
00:04So I ask you, and I ask myself this question, on August 21st, 2026, the New York Yankees
00:11have now won four in a row, the Rays have struggled, and the Yankees have cut the deficit
00:16in the American League East to four games.
00:20Situation's the same when it comes to the tiebreaker, they have a four-game series later this year,
00:24if Tampa Bay wins any one of those four games, they would secure the tiebreaker, which would
00:29technically make the Yankees five games back, because they would have to surpass the Tampa
00:33Bay Rays.
00:34Are you Tiki Barber ready, based on the Yankees' recent success, maybe even the injury updates,
00:42are you ready to undone the Yankees winning the American League East?
00:46Yeah, I might have to pull a John Kerry and Mitt Romney here, be a flip-flopper a little
00:51bit.
00:51By the way, I love how you picked a Republican and a Democrat.
00:53Very bipartisan of you.
00:54Of course, you know me.
00:55Yeah.
00:56You know me well.
00:57Yeah.
00:58They're not done.
00:59You know why they're not done?
01:00Because they have four games against them.
01:03As long as they're within four.
01:05If they're inside of four, they're not done.
01:07So I can't keep dunning them, because when I dunned them, they were at eight back.
01:12Now they're four back, and they play four games against them.
01:16So even though they might have to weather the emotion of losing a tiebreaker, same thing
01:25as last year with the Blue Jays.
01:26Yeah.
01:27That's how they lost the division last year.
01:28They're not done yet.
01:30The reason I do not waver is that the Yankees have shown us through a sample size of about
01:3667 games that they are a slightly above 500 team without Aaron Judge.
01:41That's an enormous sample size.
01:43They have now played, at this moment, 67 games without Aaron Judge.
01:49And what are they?
01:5035 and 32.
01:51Of course.
01:52Which until recently was right at 500.
01:54They were actually a game under 500.
01:56The four-game winning streak has brought them three games above 500.
01:59Yeah.
01:59I don't really have much reason to believe, even with the return of Cody Bellinger potentially
02:04this weekend, that that's going to change that much coming up on this 10-game homestand
02:08against Toronto, Houston, and Boston.
02:10And even on their West Coast trip right after that.
02:12Like, I think that's who they are.
02:14And so do I think, if they continue to play that kind of baseball, which is the sample
02:18size of 67 games, not the more recent four-game winning streak, do I think that's enough to
02:24make up even just a tiny four games on Tampa Bay?
02:27My answer still remains no.
02:29So I give them credit, and they are in it.
02:31Like, they're in it.
02:32I'm not denying that they're in it.
02:33But if you ask me, my reasoning from a few weeks ago remains the same.
