Reports of internal rift within the Congress party surfaced following remarks at the Congress Working Committee meeting. The party president expressed disappointment over certain leaders receiving significant media attention while failing to speak out against government issues and making comments or writing articles that do not align with the official party line. These observations followed remarks by a party leader regarding public protest issues and student campaigns, questioning why earlier efforts on student concerns failed to resonate with the public and whether established political parties need to listen more closely to new voices.

00:00There have been long rumours about a certain drift within the Congress Party.
00:04Congress President Malik Arjun Khadge, without taking names,
00:08mentioned about certain leaders who are getting a lot of media attention
00:11and have not been speaking out against government issues.
00:15It is anybody's guess who Malik Arjun Khadge is referring to.
00:19Khadge, sounding disappointed, though he did not name any leader,
00:23also pointed out, without identifying anyone,
00:25that some party members often make comments or write articles
00:28not reflecting party line.
00:30Khadge's comments at CWC meet came after Shashi Tharoor at an event, coincidentally,
00:35recently said many issues championed by Cockroach Janata Party
00:38during protests had already been raised by Rahul Gandhi
00:41through his Chhatroki Goonj campaign.
00:44But those concerns had failed to generate the same level of public response.
00:52The established parties will cease to be relevant
00:56unless they can listen to the new voices that they haven't heard so far.
01:01And I think, frankly, we should have started hearing them already with this.
01:05Interestingly enough, the issues taken up by the CJP and the Jantaravanta protesters
01:09had been taken up by us earlier.
01:11We had a Chhatroki Goonj thing,
01:13where Rahul Gandhi was addressing students about the paper leaks,
01:16about the things and so on.
01:17And that didn't resonate, sorry, Ritra,
01:19but that didn't resonate as much as this did.
01:21Correct.
01:21And that's why we need to ask ourselves,
01:23what did we fail to do?
01:25Did we fail to listen?
01:26Did we fail to tap into,
01:28you know, the old cliche of having a finger on the pulse of the people's knee
01:32was our finger missing from the pulse of JNZ?
01:34And that's something we really need to interrogate and solve.
01:37We'll see you next time.
