Detectives investigating a sexual assault scandal engulfing the Sydney swans have been told players paid female adult entertainers to consume drugs off their bodies. Several adult entertainers are understood to have joined players at Melbourne’s Pullman hotel after being hired in the hours after the swans' win against Essendon on Sunday night. On Wednesday, the swans stood down five players vice-captain Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, James Jordan, Riley Bice and Nick Blakey for breaching club standards for drinking and bringing women to the hotel.

00:02Joke Police have been investigating a report of a sexual assault at the Pullman Hotel linked
00:09to five Sydney Swans players in the early hours of Monday morning. After Roundley beating
00:15Essendon on Sunday night, the Swans players went on the town and then returned to the
00:21Pullman Hotel where they were joined by female adult entertainers. Multiple law enforcement
00:27sources have told us they understand an arrangement was reached in a hotel room for players to pay
00:33extra to take drugs, believed to be cocaine, from the women's breasts and buttocks. Now
00:39it's not clear how many or which players allegedly participated. These reports of alleged drug
00:45use come as police investigate an allegation of sexual assault which the ABC understands
00:50centres on a player allegedly touching one of the women without her consent. Now a sex
00:56crimes detectives have taken over the investigation and the ABC understands a formal statement has
01:03been made to the police. And Danny, yesterday Sydney Club officials were asked whether the
01:09players were drug tested but said it was a matter for police. Is it known if they have been?
01:14Well that's right and we don't know whether they have been because when asked about it,
01:19Swans chief Matthew Pavlich said it was a matter for police. But multiple law enforcement sources
01:25have told us that police didn't have the powers to drug test the players in this investigation.
01:33They've dismissed that claim and they say that the players are not doing an activity where
01:41it's illegal to be under the influence. One source was very explicit on that point. They said to say
01:47it's part of the police investigation. It's definitely not. They're just protecting themselves.
01:51Of course this follows the players apologising for their behaviour as part of a separate investigation
01:58from the club which has ended in season ending bans for all five.
