00:00The expectations or thinking of the organization,
00:04they should still be saying, all right,
00:07we're going to try to get past the divisional round
00:11and get to an AFC championship game in a Super Bowl.
00:15That should still be the mindset.
00:16And to me, the move to try to fix this,
00:21whether that is you believe in somebody within really or there's a trade
00:26possibility, there's a free agent out there.
00:28And I know Clint said he's looked up there,
00:30and I wonder if Clint kept opening that refrigerator looking for something to
00:34eat and seeing the same damn thing like I did and not coming away with
00:38anything when he looks at the available free agents right there.
00:42Or maybe there is somebody that is sexy to him.
00:44I don't know.
00:45But whatever they're going to do,
00:48they should still operate in the fashion of this move needs to be something
00:53that puts us at least in the same ballpark of where we were,
00:58because our goals and our expectations can't change.
01:01Where do you think they should go to try to fill this void, Clint?
01:05Well, I think they've got a lot of options, unfortunately.
01:09They've got options that they wish they wouldn't have to entertain.
01:12But I think there are options.
01:14You've got, I would say, lower level.
01:17And when I say it, I don't mean no disrespect,
01:18but just where you are in the career.
01:20I believe, wasn't Juju Smith-Schuster just cut?
01:23I think he is a guy that's had some experience in this offense
01:26where you've got a veteran reliable piece that could come in
01:30and learn the offense in a couple of weeks and be a player.
01:33You've got guys like Josh Reynolds that have been career backups.
01:38But then you've got Cooks who hadn't played in a while
01:40but obviously has been in this offense and has been productive.
01:44But I'm going to tell you, Ron,
01:46I didn't think until I looked a little deeper into it,
01:49but I'm on the DeAndre Hopkins train.
01:51Really?
01:52I'm on the DeAndre.
01:53Assuming he's in shape.
01:54Like, I know he's been pretty outspoken about still wanting to play
01:58but has flirted with some coaching stuff, I think, at Georgia Tech right now.
02:02But, yeah, you look at his last three seasons in the league.
02:06He's been healthy for 16 or 17 weeks, all three seasons.
02:10You look at last year he averaged 15 yards a catch,
02:14playing in an offense in an organization that the wheels
02:16completely came off in Baltimore.
02:18Before that, he put up over 600 yards, which I would –
02:22I mean, I'd push that button right now.
02:24If we could get DeAndre Hopkins to give you 600 to 700 yards this year
02:27and be healthy for 17 weeks, I'd push the button.
02:30Did I mention he's got experience in this offense with Bill O'Brien,
02:32at least the terminology?
02:34So, yeah, I just –
02:36I think there's a lot of things that make sense with DeAndre Hopkins right now.
02:40You've got some young guys that are injured that if they come back,
02:43they give you that youth, they give you that explosiveness,
02:45they give you some different skill sets.
02:48And then, you know, I think Hop gives you a stopgap, if you will.
02:54And let's be honest, there's not many out there that are available at this point
02:58that are ready, healthy, ready to play,
03:00and know what the hell's going on in this offense.
03:03Text line coming through with you.
03:05I've seen DeAndre Hopkins call up Hop.
03:09Hopkins would be great.
03:10Someone just texted in as you were saying that, Clint.
03:13I've seen it on other avenues as well.
03:17Tyler, your thoughts, DeAndre Hopkins.
03:20No.
03:21It's a no for me, dog.
03:23And I would love to see Hopkins come in if they were to do that
03:27and see him excel in some way as a veteran receiver
03:29that can help these young guys out and contribute something.
03:32Fine, whatever.
03:33But the guy's career, his NFL career is done,
03:37and we can't be looking at nostalgia and looking for good feelings
03:40just because these feelings with Higgins right now hurt so damn bad.
03:44This is what I ask myself.
03:47Because I've watched Hopkins the last couple of years,
03:53and I think he's a borderline Hall of Fame receiver.
03:57Were the Ravens his last stop?
03:59I believe so.
04:00Okay.
04:00Borderline Hall of Fame receiver.
04:03And it just, like, it's just, it's just, I mean,
04:09he seems to need a lot of help to help him get open at this point.
04:14The hands are still there.
04:16But, you know, having Henry and Lamar out there
04:21was probably helpful at times for him to be able to get himself open.
04:25I don't know, I watch him, and I'm wondering,
04:29and I know this sounds crazy when you just hear the names,
04:32but, like, if some of the in-house guys like a Jarrett Wayne
04:37played for the next eight weeks
04:41and got experience and got better and got more chemistry with CJ,
04:46I mean, would he be a better option by that point?
04:50Because, I mean, DeAndre looks like it's about time
04:53to go into coaching full-time.
04:56Like, he's getting close to that,
04:58and maybe this may be a possibility here,
05:01but, like, there, to me,
05:05I'd almost whether really look into a trade
05:07because I look at DeAndre Hopkins,
05:09and I don't, like, I don't think, like,
05:11all right, that's comparable, anywhere comparable to Higgins.
05:15And to me, that's where you're,
05:18I would think you're trying close to get to.
05:20I know the guys on In the Loop talked about maybe, you know,
05:23calling up New England and seeing if boot tee would be available
05:27and what that would cost.
05:30But, yeah, some of these, like, I look at these free agent guys,
05:33and Hopkins might be, you know, towards the top of the list.
05:36Because, you know, I don't know, it feels like Tyreek Hill
05:38is either going to the Chiefs or nowhere else.
05:42And then, you know, there's, we've heard Brandon Cooks.
05:45I'll hold my breath if Nick Casario's going to do that again.
05:49But, I don't know, man, it just,
05:53the Hopkins thing doesn't turn me on.
05:55I just haven't really been impressed from him the last couple of years.
06:01What options, other than trade, I mean,
06:03if we think that the New England Patriots or the Denver Broncos
06:06or an AFC contender is going to trade us a wide receiver
06:08when we clearly have the best, or one of the best defenses in football
06:12and we're there competition, I mean, what does turn you on?
06:15I mean, none of it turns me on.
06:17I don't like to think that we're in a position that we need DeAndre Hopkins.
06:22But, I mean, what out there, what player,
06:24nobody out there on the streets right now is going to make you feel like
06:27you got Higgins back.
06:28I mean, you just, you got to find somebody that you can plug and play,
06:31that can play multiple positions, that picks up the offense,
06:35that just gives the offense the ability to go execute.
06:40And when there's a guy that's, I mean, he's had,
06:43even when Hopkins was having Munch, and I'm not saying show
06:46that he hadn't had a step back, obviously there's a step back.
06:49But, I mean, even when he was in his prime, he wasn't creating separation.
06:53He always played with wide receiver, with defensive backs on his back
06:58or wrapped around his waist or having some kind of,
07:01he was never a separation creator.
07:04So, I mean, I agree.
07:06He is not who he once was.
07:08But when you look at who's on the streets right now, I mean,
07:12you've got to go with, talking about healthy guys on the streets right now,
07:17you've got to go with a veteran who's savvy, who can help you right now,
07:21that's got experience, or you've got to go with a career third
07:24or four-string wide receiver that may be able to still run a little bit.
07:28Now, if we're going to talk trades, then, I mean, who knows?
07:31I mean, we can open up that can of war.
07:33Hell, anybody's out there.
07:34I mean, there's a ton of guys out there, but they've got a problem right now,
07:38Ron.
07:39I mean, they've got three of their top four guys that are injured right now,
07:43and when are they coming back?
07:44Yeah, that's the other part.
07:46Like, to me, if Jalen Knoll is coming back, like, honest to God,
07:50and if you said we're taking trade off the table and the guys that are on the
07:54streets that are open, like, I mean, I think they've got a better chance
08:00of getting Jarrett Wayne to speed in eight, ten weeks than some of the guys
08:05that are listed out there.
08:06Oh, I don't disagree with that.
08:08You know what I mean?
08:08So I'd rather go that route.
08:12You've got to go that route.
08:13You're going that route.
08:14Yeah.
08:15I mean, right now, Jarrett Wayne is your two.
08:17You're a three behind Hutch.
08:18I'm sorry.
08:19I missed Hutch, man.
08:19Dang, man.
08:20I'm sorry.
08:21I'm sorry I jumped Hutch.
08:22I mean, he's your three behind Hutch.
08:23Yeah, and the hope is that Knoll is back with his hamstring and the finger,
08:27and he's in the fold, and then obviously we've talked about the tank
08:31situation, that, and then if you've got to add another veteran guy, yes,
08:35but I just, yeah, I mean, I just think he's probably got a shot better than
08:40any of those guys on the street to come anywhere close to where you were hoping
08:44that Higgins would be.
08:45So that's why I'm just not, there's just not a name.
08:49If this had happened, you know, you hate to say this,
08:51a couple of weeks ago and Diggs was still out there.
