00:00Yup, it's officially happening. OnePlus is officially leaving the US and EU markets, which is incredibly sad news.

00:06That said though, regardless of how you feel, the OnePlus 15 is actually extra special now because

00:12this is likely their last truly dedicated flagship to hit the States.

00:16And since they committed to honoring the remaining software updates and warranties for it,

00:20I want to tell you why I have no problem recommending you check this phone out while you still can.

00:25For one thing, the specs speak for themselves. All this for 900 bucks.

00:28Yeah, that's still not exactly cheap, but it's still wildly competitive and there's a heck of a lot to like

00:33here now.

00:33Of course, this phone isn't perfect by any means and those specs certainly didn't stop the internet from ripping into

00:38this phone when it launched

00:39for reasons such as lowering display resolution and its downgraded camera hardware.

00:44But after actually using the phone, the main takeaway is how great the day-to-day user experience has really

00:49been.

00:50Everything from mundane tasks to gaming and heavy multitasking feels like an absolute grease.

00:55Speed and fluidity are something OnePlus phones have always had going for themselves and this phone is no exception.

01:01It feels like they reached a nice sweet spot for the overall feel of the OS with buttery smooth animations,

01:06lightning fast data transfers, quick launching apps, and near instant fingerprint scans.

01:11And that 165hz refresh rate and 3200hz touch sampling rate have been awesome when I play games including tough ones

01:20like Call of Duty Mobile.

01:21And even with long gaming sessions, I haven't experienced any serious overheating too or any performance glitches.

01:27This is seriously one of, if not the quickest and most responsive phones that I've ever used and it's all

01:32enhanced by how the phone feels in the hand.

01:34This Sandstorm variant in particular feels awesome and even though the back panel is technically plastic,

01:40the coating it has along with the coating on the side rails makes for a great combination that still feels

01:45premium and very unique.

01:47Oh and having that peace of mind near water with having those crazy IP ratings goes a long way too,

01:52knowing that this is one of the more rugged devices out there in that regard.

01:55So with the hardware after these eight months, it's held up really well.

01:59As for the battery life, I'll just say this, the battery is unhinged, in a good way.

02:04It still holds up extremely well and it continues to be a legit two day battery for me.

02:08Of course extreme heavier use will have me charging by the time I hit the hay,

02:11but there have been many nights where I just didn't even need to plug in my phone because I knew

02:16that not only would I have enough to just get me through a decent portion of the next day,

02:20but if I didn't need to charge it, mere minutes on the charger would be enough to just keep me

02:24going for a quick while beyond that,

02:26thanks to the 80 watt charging speeds.

02:28And then there's the software.

02:30Over the years, Oppo and OnePlus have been molding OxygenOS into what is essentially a modified version of ColorOS.

02:36And honestly, I don't mind that at all and I actually like the current state of OxygenOS,

02:41the blend of clean animations, there's no bloatware, it has nice smooth visuals and a nice library of actually useful

02:48features,

02:49including live alerts, the super convenient sidebar, dynamic folders and app icons, motion cues for motion sickness,

02:57and mind space, which has Gemini integration by the way, just makes for a very enjoyable experience overall.

03:03I've already made multiple videos going through all the features OxygenOS has to offer, including the latest Android 16 update.

03:09And while it's not my absolute favorite Android skin out there, that would most likely be one UI,

03:14what OxygenOS does have is in no way anything to sneeze at.

03:17Plus, recent updates have polished up almost everything, including all the smaller UI elements.

03:22It's improved optimization and added nice quality of life features like being able to connect two sets of Bluetooth headphones

03:28simultaneously.

03:29It's really handy.

03:30If you've been following the channel for a while, you know that I've been rocking the Red Tiger F7NA dash

03:34cam,

03:35which is the sponsor of this video, in my car for a couple of months now, and it's been incredible.

03:39It's been capturing all the crazy stuff that I see on the road in 4K on the front using Sony's

03:44IMX 678 sensor,

03:46which is one of the most advanced 4K sensors on the market today.

03:49And then on the back, I got a 1080p camera that also helps out without missing a beat.

03:53I mean, with either of these cameras, I can actually read license plates and road signs from a huge distance,

03:59much better than most other dash cams on the market.

04:02And even at night, both Red Tiger cameras still do a phenomenal job of capturing everything in great detail,

04:07with HDR helping balance out bright headlights from traffic without making everything else too dark.

04:13And then you can save everything on your phone quickly through the Red Tiger app,

04:16where it connects over a super fast 5.8 gigahertz Wi-Fi 6 connection.

04:20Even crazier, in California, it's been getting ridiculously hot, hitting over 100 degrees Fahrenheit,

04:26and it still survived the heat without a problem.

04:28I even tested it to the extreme where I parked the car outside while I went on a few errands,

04:32came back a few hours later, and it was still recording perfectly without any issues.

04:36The touchscreen was still very responsive, everything powered on like normal,

04:40and honestly, it just gave me a lot more confidence knowing that I don't have to worry about it

04:44during those insanely hot summer days.

04:46A big reason for that is that unlike a lot of cheaper dash cams that rely on lithium batteries,

04:51this one uses a super capacitor instead, which is much more stable in extreme temperatures,

04:56and just helps avoid the battery swelling problems that can happen over time.

05:00And on top of that, the camera also supports parking monitoring,

05:02so it's built to just keep working even when your car is sitting outside in the heat for hours.

05:07So if you've been looking for a dash cam that not only provides sharp footage,

05:10but can also handle the brutal heat inside a parked car,

05:17Now back to the OnePlus 15, let's talk about all the shortcomings that this phone has.

05:21I mean, first off, the display, sure it's a lower resolution, 1.5K to be exact,

05:26and that's lower than even the OnePlus 13, but it didn't really bother me that much.

05:31It was still really nice to look at, I didn't really notice the lower resolution,

05:35and it got very bright and colorful.

05:37Obviously, the advantage to that too is that we get a higher refresh rate of 165Hz,

05:41which is absolutely insanely great for gaming, and I did appreciate that.

05:45And then there's the speakers. I do still wish that they had more low-end,

05:48but they're still pretty well-tuned. It's just a nitpick.

05:51The device also has weaker haptics than most other devices that I've used,

05:55but I've gotten used to them, and that's because it has a smaller haptic motor than even the OnePlus 13.

06:00The plus key also exists, and for whatever reason, it still hasn't gotten the full customization I feel it needs.

06:05But for now, since I genuinely missed the alert slider, I still keep mine set to sound and vibration.

06:11Therefore, the software has its positives for sure,

06:13but I'd say its biggest negatives involve long-term support.

06:16It doesn't match the seven years of OS updates that Samsung and Google boast,

06:20and updates don't arrive as frequently either.

06:23And yes, the camera hardware is simply not up to snuff for a device of this caliber,

06:26and is a legitimate on-paper downgrade.

06:28There are definitely areas in which they fall short, especially at night.

06:32They're not the most consistent, and this camera system's ability to handle

06:35different scenarios and environments leaves a lot to be desired.

06:38But still, I mean, they're more than fine for the average Joe.

06:41They hold their own and come with plenty of noteworthy features,

06:43like being able to record in log format and in slow-mo at 4K 120fps.

06:49There's not a reason to get this phone, but in my opinion,

06:51there's certainly not a reason to avoid it either,

06:53unless your top priority is camera performance.

06:56And in that case, you've got plenty of other options to choose from.

06:59All things considered, the OnePlus 15 is without a doubt a top-tier phone,

07:03even after all these months.

07:04Its downsides are undeniable, sure,

07:07but when you actually use the phone, its upsides become even more difficult to deny.

07:11Battery life, performance, and everyday user experience are the main selling points,

07:15and this phone absolutely crushes all of those categories.

07:18If you're thinking about picking up a OnePlus 15 today,

07:21needless to say, that's a very different purchase than it was eight months ago,

07:24because yes, once again, OnePlus has announced that it's pulling out of the US market.

07:29But honestly, I still have no problem recommending this phone,

07:31especially because OnePlus is committed to honoring all of its software update promises

07:35for the OnePlus 15 throughout its supported lifespan,

07:38and your warranty will still be honored too.

07:40The only caveat is that repairs will likely be handled through OPPO service centers

07:43or authorized third-party partners instead of dedicated OnePlus facilities.

07:48So if you've been worried that buying this phone means that you're on your own,

07:51that's simply not the case.

07:53Oxygen OS will actually eventually morph into full-on color OS for these phones

07:57through a voluntary update coming up.

07:59Keep in mind that again, Oxygen OS is basically color OS.

08:02It'll still have all the same features, looks, and feel just under a different logo and branding.

08:07I've been covering OnePlus devices for a very long time now,

08:09so I totally get that the writing was on the wall for a while,

08:12but it still stinks nonetheless.

08:14It was always nice having another viable option outside the three-headed monster of Apple, Samsung,

08:19and Google, especially one that came packed with some of the highest-end specs

08:23that a phone could come with at a reasonable price.

08:25So if you've always wanted to experience what made OnePlus different in the States,

08:29this might be your last opportunity to own one

08:31while it's still backed with full software support and warranty coverage.
