00:00DAP's Ram Karpal Singh has told Kedah Menteri Besar Sanusi Noor to accept the federal court's
00:05ruling on gambling licences instead of seeking ways around it. In a statement,
00:10the Bukit Galugor MP argued that Sanusi should focus on stopping Muslims from gambling through
00:16stronger enforcement. Ram Karpal maintained that the legal position on licensed gambling was now
00:21clear and there was no reason for the past leader to pursue alternatives around the ruling.
00:26He added that Sanusi should work within the court's decision rather than look for ways to circumvent it.
00:32Ram Karpal also warned that a blanket gambling ban could push demand towards illegal syndicates and
00:38online platforms. He maintained that licensed gambling was legally permitted and had long
00:44existed in Malaysia while stressing that non-Muslim interests must also be considered. On August 12,
00:50the federal court rejected Kedah's bid to overturn a ruling barring the state government from
00:56refusing to renew licences for pool betting and lottery operators. Amardeep Gill, FMT.
