00:00Samsung just dropped the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup and there are actually a lot more changes here than

00:04I was expecting, just way more.

00:07So I just want to run through the top 12 changes that really stood out to me the most.

00:11First up, there's this new editing tool called My Fan Cam that I'm honestly really obsessed with.

00:16Like, let's say you're recording a concert or a sporting event or really anything with a bunch of people in

00:21the frame.

00:22You can simply tap on one person and Galaxy AI will automatically crop in and just track them throughout the

00:27entire video.

00:28It's pretty great.

00:29It even lets you change the aspect ratio too, so you can easily turn a landscape video into a vertical

00:34TikTok or Instagram Reel.

00:36I mean, as someone who just makes content constantly, I'm pretty hyped for this one.

00:40My second favorite improvement has to be the upgraded Now nudge.

00:43It used to only pop up in the keyboard, but now it shows up all over the place.

00:47Like, there are these new little AI suggestion bubbles called Ambient Nudge that appear right when you actually need them.

00:53Plus, you even get nudges in the notification as well.

00:56So, for example, if a friend texts you asking if you're free next Thursday, Ambient Nudge can pop up this

01:01bubble to let you pull up your calendar in Split View to just automatically create an event.

01:06Or if you're talking about meeting up somewhere, it'll suggest opening Google Maps right there in Split View 2.

01:11I mean, these are the kind of AI features that don't seem exciting at first, but honestly, they're probably the

01:16ones that you just end up using every single day because they just save you a bunch of little steps.

01:21Third favorite upgrade has to be that Samsung just upgraded their task automation feature to work with over 40 apps.

01:27Basically, you can tell your phone to do something, and it'll actually go off and do it for you within

01:32several apps.

01:33Now, we've had this before in the Galaxy S26 where you can just tell Gemini to automatically order you an

01:38Uber anywhere, but it only worked with Uber.

01:40However, now with the Fold 8 series, you can do way more apps, and it can even understand what's on

01:45your screen.

01:46For example, let's say you come across a beautiful picture of London, and then you decide you want to visit

01:50it.

01:51You can just ask Gemini to book the trip and then find you a hotel.

01:54It'll recognize where the photo was taken, open apps like Expedia, search for hotels, fill everything out in the background,

02:02and then notify you once it's ready to review and approve.

02:05It's honestly pretty wild to watch, and even cooler on the Flip 8, you can even kick off these automations

02:11right from the flex window so you don't even need to open up the phone in the first place.

02:15It's incredible.

02:16And speaking of the Flip, Samsung made a huge update to its flex window.

02:19They expanded the software so it actually feels like you're using the full phone without ever flipping it open.

02:24You can even swipe down for notifications and quick settings.

02:28You can swipe up to open up your app drawer, open up apps too, switch between your recent apps, and

02:34even use all the Galaxy AI features to do stuff that you'd actually find to be useful.

02:38It's like having a mini phone right on the front of the screen.

02:41And then there's the new shape of the Fold 8 itself.

02:44I mean, come on, the big elephant in the room.

02:46Samsung just gave it a fresh 10 by 16 aspect ratio on the outside, and then a 4 by 3

02:52aspect ratio on the inside.

02:54All just to make it better for just watching content.

02:57And I mean, look, after I used it, I can definitely see the difference.

03:00Plus, it was definitely easier to use with one hand.

03:03Now, to be fair, when I opened up YouTube and made a video full screen, I could still see the

03:09black bars on the top and bottom.

03:10So I still found myself just zooming in to fill in the space.

03:14But the good news is those black bars are a lot smaller than before, which means you don't have to

03:19zoom in nearly as much as you would with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

03:23So you're cropping less of the video, and overall, it just makes watching YouTube feel a lot better on the

03:28Fold than previous generations.

03:31Then from there, Samsung is finally making the switch to silicon carbon batteries, and it's foldable.

03:35I mean, finally.

03:36That's a pretty big deal, because this has made the phones even slimmer and even lighter for some of them,

03:42while fitting in larger batteries.

03:44The Galaxy Z Fold 8, for example, now packs a 4,800 milliamp hour battery, and then the Z Fold

03:508 Ultra has 5,000 milliamp hours.

03:53That's way more than the Z Fold 7.

03:55The Z Flip 8, on the other hand, is the only foldable that still has the same capacity at 4

04:00,300 milliamp hours.

04:02But still, it's even lighter and thinner than the Flip 7.

04:05And it doesn't stop there, because Samsung also finally improved the charging speed across the Fold 8 and 8 Ultra.

04:11I mean, before on the Fold 7, we were dealing with 25 watts on a $2,000 device.

04:16That's pretty crazy.

04:18Now, it's been bumped up to 45 watts, which is a nice upgrade.

04:21And Samsung also increased the wireless charging speed to 20 watts across the lineup as well, which is great.

04:26Sure, it's not the fastest charging speed you'll find on a foldable, but it's definitely a step in the right

04:30direction.

04:31Now, the only thing is the charging speed on the Flip 8 is still the same as before.

06:10Now, another huge improvement on the folds is just how thin all these foldables have really gotten.

06:15I mean, Samsung says this is the thinnest foldable lineup ever, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra measuring just

06:204.1 millimeters when it's open,

06:23the Galaxy Z Fold 8 coming at 4.5 millimeters when open, and the Z Flip 8 shrinking down to

06:29just 6.1 millimeters.

06:30So, across the board, every one of them got thinner, thanks to the new silicon carbon battery, and holding them

06:36in person just felt incredible.

06:38I guess we'll just have to wait and see, though, with the JerryRigEverything video to really see how durable they

06:42really are.

06:44Unfortunately, though, since they're so thin, you still get that camera bump that causes the phone to wobble on the

06:49table, and it's still pretty bad.

06:51I also really like that, in a major way, Samsung improved the displays by adding anti-reflective coating to the

06:56large inner displays, including on the Fold 8 and 8 Ultra.

07:00That means you'll have way less glare when you're using the phone outside, and you can definitely see the difference

07:05when you compare it to the Z Fold 7.

07:07Now, the other screens, though, still don't have that anti-reflective coating, which is a bummer.

07:12But, hey, I mean, it's still a nice upgrade.

07:14Plus, all the screens on the Fold 8 and 8 Ultra get way brighter, too, hitting up to 3,000

07:19nits.

07:20So, again, that should definitely help when you're using it in direct sunlight.

07:23And while we're on the displays, the big inner screens also get a whole lot flatter, as well, with a

07:28noticeably smaller crease.

07:30Like, the whole phone for the 8 Ultra actually sits completely flat now when it's fully open, which it didn't

07:35do before.

07:36The crease is also much less noticeable.

07:38I still wouldn't say that it's quite at the same level as something like the Oppo 5906, where the crease

07:43is almost invisible, but it's definitely a big improvement.

07:46How Samsung achieved this is by adding two new titanium support sheets underneath the display, making the entire foldable experience

07:52stronger, flatter, and helping reduce the crease.

07:56As for the cameras, there weren't any huge upgrades here.

07:59Most of the hardware is still the same.

08:01However, I do appreciate that they did bring a significant upgrade to the Ultra Wide on the Fold 8 and

08:068 Ultra, bumping it all the way up to 50 megapixels.

08:10That should mean sharper Ultra Wide photos with more detail, especially for landscapes and nighttime shots.

08:15And again, the rest of the camera setup is mostly familiar that we've seen before.

08:19I mean, the 8 Ultra still gets the 200 megapixel main camera, along with a 10 megapixel 3x optical zoom

08:25telephoto, while the regular Fold 8, that's the smaller one, has a 50 megapixel main camera, but it skips the

08:32third dedicated telephoto lens.

08:34It still has the ultra wide, though.

08:35And then the flip just comes with two lenses as before, the same 50 megapixel main, and the second one

08:41is the 12 megapixel ultra wide setup that we had as before.

08:44So, there you go.

08:45Then there's this new software feature that seemed to be pretty interesting called Gemini Notebooks.

08:49It just lets you throw together things like photos, PDFs, voice recordings, and documents into one place, and Gemini will

08:56automatically organize everything for you.

08:58It can generate summaries, flashcards, infographics, quizzes, and even AI-generated podcasts based on your own files.

09:06If you're a student or someone that does a lot of research or big projects, I could see this being

09:10extremely useful.

09:12So, there you have it.

09:1312 of the best new features that I found in the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup.

09:16Now, these phones aren't going to be cheap by any means.

09:19The Fold 8 Ultra is starting at $2,100.

09:22The regular Fold 8 starts at $1,900.

09:26And then the Flip 8 is going to go for $1,200.

09:29So, some pretty big price tags.
