00:00The Washington Nationals are kind of hanging around a little bit.
00:03I thought it was over once they got swept four games in a row and then lost seven.
00:07They made an interesting announcement, I thought, earlier this week, Tom.
00:11They decided that C.J. Abrams is going to move from shortstop to second base.
00:18And Abrams is arguably the best offensive shortstop in baseball.
00:22I don't even think that there's a lot of debate on that, honestly.
00:24So now he'll be the best second baseman offensively in baseball.
00:27He was not a great shortstop.
00:30The other thing is Washington, if I'm not mistaken, has a phenomenal prospect
00:36getting ready to come up to the big leagues as well at shortstop, who they want to play.
00:39They're saying it's for Nassim Nunez. I'm not really buying that.
00:43But, you know, look, Abrams has very little leg to stand on at this point.
00:46I know he's a great offensive player.
00:48But until you become a free agent, you've got to just do what the team wants you to do.
00:52He really hasn't – I haven't heard him say that he doesn't want to do this.
00:55So I assume it's happiness and rainbows for the time being there.
01:00You know, first and foremost, I would say credit to C.J. Abrams to being open to the move.
01:06And if this is just – if this is him having a mature moment and saying,
01:11the Nats have some prospect that they want to call up, I know I'm good here, I can hit,
01:16am I going to do what's best for the team to move to second base?
01:18If he's saying that to himself and he wants to do that and move to second base, all credit to
01:22him.
01:22He's doing what he can to help the team.
01:24There were trade rumors surrounding him where the Nats can move him.
01:27The Nats overperformed and they kind of fell off.
01:30There's a lot going on with the team.
01:31But if he's willing to take a step to the side almost and go to a different position that was
01:36not his
01:37in order to do what's best for the team, I think he deserves a lot of credit for that.
01:41Yeah, through salary arbitration, certainly he would stand to make more playing shortstop than second base.
01:47But that's just sort of where things are.
