00:00Am I right when I say this, Lomas, that there's been like a facelift for the entire organization?
00:06Like, it's a different run organization compared to what it's been.
00:10It was when you were there, they won.
00:13But, again, it's been spotty winning, like, since the 60s.
00:18And all of a sudden, now, I see more consistency.
00:20Am I right when I say that, that there's been a facelift there with the Lions?
00:24Without a doubt.
00:25Without a doubt, Dan.
00:27And, like I said, back then when we were on the team, we won in spite of, you know, the
00:34higher ups, you know.
00:36But now, with Shillingham Ford taking over, all of them work in unices.
00:42The top first, you know, the players, the coaches, it's all lined up.
00:48And I can't say it was always that way for us when we were there.
00:53So, she's done such a great job of, just like you say, turning that whole organization around.
00:59And Dan Campbell has done such a great job of turning this community, this state around.
01:05Because everybody believes in him.
01:08Everybody believes in what he's trying to do.
01:11And you can see it.
01:12That grit that they talk about, you can see it throughout the city.
01:17How this city has just revitalized itself, too.
01:20How it's come along.
01:22I don't know when the last time you've been here, Dan.
01:25But it's completely different from when you were here before the city of Detroit.
01:30So, I think a lot of that is tied in with the Lions, the success the Lions have had, too,
01:36over the last few years.
01:38I call Dan Campbell the NFL's version of Hulk Hogan.
01:42He reminds me of, like, Hulk Hogan in the way that he runs the football team.
01:47It really does look like the players really enjoy playing for him.
01:51They do.
01:52I mean, he's a football guy, as you know.
01:55Played the game for eight, nine years.
01:57So, you know, as a player, you respect somebody that's leading you, that's actually been in that locker room.
02:04That's actually sat in those seats and done what you've done.
02:08You can respect them a lot more.
02:10And that's how Dan Campbell came in.
02:14The coaching staff that he surrounds himself with is just a lot of ex-players that played at a high
02:20level in this game.
02:22So, yes, we've embraced him.
02:25Like I say, this city is full of grit.
02:27And it's not just us, Dan.
02:29Man, it's permanated to the Pistons, the Tigers, the Red Wings.
02:35Anytime you hear those coaches and managers talk, they're using words grit and resilience.
02:42And all that, like I say, that started with Dan Campbell.
02:45So, I'm proud of him, man.
02:47Because it's almost like, you know, we played together.
02:50So, I feel like a proud father when I see him have success.
02:55I love that there.
02:57You know, I got to say this about Jared Goff.
02:59I thought he was going to be a stopgap quarterback for you guys when they ended up sending him up
03:04to Detroit.
03:06Lo and behold, he gets a $53 million contract extension.
03:09He's winning football games like nobody's business up there in Detroit.
03:14Have you been surprised with his success, Lo, as a starting quarterback there?
03:20You know, I've been surprised at the adjustment he has made.
03:25And the reason why I'm saying that, Dan, think about this.
03:29He grew up in California.
03:30He played high school, college, and pro ball in California.
03:36Then you get ostracized and sent out of California and sent to the Midwest, right?
03:43To an organization that has never won.
03:45Never won on the highest level.
03:48You know, and have had struggles.
03:52You send him there, and you want him to turn around not only the team, but you want him to
03:59turn around the organization, how the people in the community think about the Detroit Lions.
04:05And he's come in, and he's done it all.
04:09He's been a godsend for this team, this community, man.
04:15And Jared, I'm so proud of Jared and what he's done.
04:18And I think what he's going to do for us, I really think under Jared, we can realize our dreams
04:26and get to a Super Bowl because he's been there.
04:28He's been to a Super Bowl before.
04:31So he knows how to lead us to that.
04:33So I'm just so happy for the success he's had.
04:37I'm glad the Lions are taking care of him.
04:40He's one of ours.
04:41We wrap our arms around Jared Cross as a community, and he's ours.
04:47So I'm just so happy he's here, and I'm so happy he's having success here.
