00:10aaron has a honda pilot that he converted into a mobile dwelling and this thing takes
00:15him everywhere he's going to give us a full tour inside and out so join us
00:21hey patrick it's great to finally meet you this is the 2024 honda pilot uh it's a trail sport
00:27edition i've had 15 different rvs this is the most recent one i think i've uh had it for about
00:35two
00:35years like i said it's a 2024 it has 207 000 miles i take it everywhere i take it all
00:42the way down i
00:42take it all the way from the east coast all the way down into mexico mostly the reason i bought
00:47this thing is it's an all-wheel drive it gets me through everything you could possibly think of
00:51uh i'm a i'm a catastrophe insurance adjuster what that is is i get a call they say listen
00:58you need to be here there's a whole bunch of claims maybe there's a tornado there's a hailstorm
01:03a hurricane whatever it is this is what i bring in there's no hotels there's no nothing this is it
01:10whatever i bring with me that's it um maybe maybe a week or so after that things start to open
01:17up after
01:17that things get a little bit better but this is my home until that happens um welcome in so i
01:26guess
01:26first of all what we did is we completely gutted the vehicle when i say we i used to work
01:32at a van
01:32shop and uh i have some friends in the industry and i pretty much we used we a teamed it
01:40we we uh we
01:41got a a storage unit we sat there for about a week and a half in the storage unit and
01:47we just
01:47a teamed this vehicle and that's what i mean is like we we just we had lunch delivered we had
01:52breakfast delivered and we built this thing and that's the way to do it in my opinion is just
01:57concentrate focus on whatever you're building and and and don't go to the next project that's the
02:03problem with these things is you go to the next project and they never get done this real basic
02:08stuff i like to have everything blacked out um i have these things that all around on all six or
02:15seven windows they come from weather tech they're just real basic you can get them on amazon.com
02:20um you could build them yourself if you if you're on a budget i suggest building them self go to
02:26go to
02:26the nearest uh uh auto parts store you can get yourself a truck uh one of the ones in the
02:33truck
02:33come in here and just and just start putting this stuff on this one actually right here is built
02:38because i because i lost it in the wind and this thing right here is custom it's a custom rack

02:44it's by no go great guy i was going to build one myself and put it on here but you
02:49know what at
02:49i think it was like fifteen sixteen hundred dollars there's no reason at all to try to build something
02:54yourself when when you could just buy it it's just it take it'll take me two weeks to do stuff

03:00right here's the bed system what we did was no holes drilled what that really means is we gutted this
03:06vehicle and our intentions were to use every hole on this vehicle that was made by the manufacturer do not
03:13put any other holes that's very tough to do when you're building out one of these things but we
03:17accomplished that on this build let me show you it first of all we take this pad right here that's
03:25the back seat to the uh desk area set it right here take this middle pad and move this system
03:35this this
03:36uh the the butt part of the seat up there take this take this
03:48and then place it back here and that and then i have right here i have uh depending on how
03:56how warm
03:56or how cold it is i have the bedding right there i was at first when i got this thing
04:01i did some sheets
04:02and different things like that um after the but then it just was a pain to get the sheets every
04:08morning and stuff like that so this is what it is this is my bedding this is the bed it's
04:13really super
04:14comfortable i mean you can't ask for any more comfortable um here's the cabinet this is a built-in
04:21cabinet like i said we used all the factory uh holes that were left from the seats little cubby hole
04:28right
04:29here here's my 110 this is all i need to charge all the stuff that i need maybe my computer
04:35uh drone
04:36batteries for when i'm using drone whatever it is another cubby hole um and one more cubby hole there
04:47for my pillow and then the cooking uh my cooking stuff what i'm going to do right now is i'm
04:53going to lay
04:54down on this bed to show you how big this bed is i'm six foot tall this thing easily covers
05:00the size
05:01of me maybe even two people it'd be a little cramped but not bad um that's how the bed works
05:10put the pillow away in the morning next up we have the refrigerator it's a 12 volt refrigerator
05:18it's a bodega cooler i believe i got it off of amazon maybe four or five six hundred bucks at
05:24the most
05:25thing's great does a really good job you can't even see it's in here with the way that we built
05:30this
05:30shelves let me show you the key to this whole build it's pretty much the desk i need something
05:36that i'm not sitting on the front seat trying to try to make a trying to write a claim this
05:41is it
05:42this desk goes all the way up front if i wanted to sit over there it also comes back here
05:47it's also
05:47very long so it depends on where and it stores very easy as you can see um it doesn't have
05:55any other
05:55type of weight back there
05:59it just fits my fits the uh vehicle just so well next up we have the uh eco flow i
06:07believe it's the
06:0816 or the 1800 eco flow it's the reason why i went with this and not a battery and not
06:15the um like
06:19one that i could put together is if something goes wrong with it i need to get on amazon and
06:24buy a new
06:24one and have it over here in a day or two there i've had every type of system there is
06:30you cannot
06:31beat these you really cannot beat these if something goes wrong i have a new one and there's literally
06:36three plugs on top of the eco flow i have the 800 watt eco flow dc to dc upgraded charger
06:45it goes it
06:46goes like pulls regular 12 volt that would take this thing a day all the way down to about two
06:52hours to
06:52get it full from one to one hundred percent you cannot go wrong with that one thing that i didn't
06:57do is i didn't do solar i drive so much that i don't that the solar is not necessary a
07:03lot of you
07:03guys on the channel they you you'll stay put for a week or two but you definitely need the solar
07:09if
07:10they it just depends these are all built out just depending on your lifestyle my lifestyle i'm driving
07:15somewhere next to next yeah this is great i love the fact that it's a no drill conversion but it's
07:24almost like a no build because when you're ready to trade this vehicle in when you get 400 000 miles
07:30on
07:31it you can plop everything out and if the new body style is the same yeah well you could just
07:36put it
07:36all back together yeah that's exactly what my my intentions were that if god forbid i just need to
07:43get a new car i could this thing is about we have this totally built in about five or six
07:48different
07:49units and we pull out the units and we put it into the new vehicle yeah this is this is
07:55pretty cool and
07:55that's all plywood with like carpeting on it that's exactly it the the van shop that i worked at this
08:02was we were just known for putting the gray carpet on the walls they do so well i really suggest
08:09people
08:09and whenever i see somebody do a van build i suggest that they go with the carpet the reason that
08:14it does
08:15is when you fold it over it makes its own trim you're not chasing trim pieces if you notice a
08:20lot of these
08:21people's build when they do wood you put a piece of wood there now you have to trim it up
08:25to make it
08:25look perfect when you go with carpet and you put it around and you staple it you can't go wrong
08:30you're
08:31not tracing chasing trim all day long and why the honda pilot why not a suburban or something like that
08:38i i've had so many vehicles and when i bought this i wanted something that's quality so i really felt
08:45like either toyota or honda and this was the longest vehicle that is all-wheel drive and and
08:53almost like sporty they do have the toyota grand highlander hybrid the other problem with the grand
08:59highlander hybrid is we were we weren't sure if we were going to have to need to go through the
09:05body
09:05and the hybrid uh the hybrid storage batteries are all on the bottom of the vehicle and i want to
09:11drill
09:12into one of those i came so close to buying it i had the deal going it was in chicago
09:17i was ready i
09:17had the flight ready to go and i decided you know what it's not worth it i i it and
09:23i ended up buying
09:24this one well aaron i really appreciate you taking the time to give us a tour i've done a few
09:31van and
09:32minivan tours before people enjoyed them yeah and it just so happens that there's been three storms back
09:37to back in new jersey so now you're here yeah doing your job and that's this vehicle got you here

10:02when i need to use it i just use one of these i got them off of amazon i like
10:07i said this thing's
10:08brand new i've never used it before it's just a cook pot that uses uh those one of those little
10:15green gas cylinders but it's a jet boil again i've never used it it's here if i have to use
10:22it i
10:23everything in this whole car is intentional and i'm in it just in case you never know what you need
