00:06I think that we should continue to do that because I think the fair administration of
00:13justice and us doing our jobs depend on that.
00:17What I have seen over the past 30 years working intimately with this department is that this
00:27department succeeds when people of different backgrounds, different politics, different
00:33life experiences put the mission of the department first.
00:37The best AUSAs, the best trial attorneys, the best support staff, the best agents I've known
00:46are perfectly comfortable arguing fiercely in the conference room or in your offices about
00:53the best strategy or the best path forward, but when they walk out of that room, when
00:59they walk out of that conference, when they write that brief, when they go into court, they
01:05execute the decided plan as one team, one mission, one goal.
01:10That's what this department has done for generations.
01:15And that's what we are going to continue to do every single day.
01:19I think disagreement is extraordinarily healthy.
01:23I think disagreement is the only way that we make the best decisions as a department.
01:30I think that we should continue to do that because I think the fair administration of justice
01:37and us doing our jobs depend on that.
01:40And I want to encourage everybody to do that.
01:43We are going to, as we always do, defend the Constitution of the United States vigorously in
01:49court.
01:50We will always respect the role of the judiciary.
01:54We will not engage in or stand for any sort of performative attacks that undermine the institutions
02:00that we are sworn to uphold.
02:02At the same time, we're not going to be intimidated.
02:06We're not going to be intimidated out of enforcing the law or doing our jobs or executing
02:11the goals and priorities that we have in this administration.
02:16Remember that we came in here a year and a half ago.
02:21And one of the things that we really wanted to do is make sure that we were doing all we
02:27can to restore law and order, to restore safety in this country.
02:32Our job is to deliver on that mandate every single day.
02:38And I don't say that to say that we need to start doing that.
02:42That's something that we've been doing.
02:43I'm saying that I'm joining you today on a cruise ship or a sailboat or what I call it is
02:52sailing
02:53in the right direction.
02:54And we're going to continue to do that.
