Leavitt Fires Back After Reporter Challenges Trump Racism Claim

Tensions flared inside the White House briefing room after Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reacted with visible disbelief to a question about President Donald Trump being “falsely called racist.” When Ed O’Keefe of CBS News pressed for examples, Leavitt fired back, “You’re kidding, right?”—prompting laughter in the room.

The exchange followed Trump’s tribute to civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, where he claimed he had been unfairly labeled racist by political opponents. Leavitt vowed to compile “a plethora of examples” of what she described as false accusations from Democrats and media figures.

The heated moment quickly sparked reactions across political and media circles, reigniting debate over Trump’s past rhetoric and the media’s coverage of it.
