A political battle is heating up in Washington as Senator Thom Tillis weighs in on Todd Blanche’s nomination and criticizes the growing political divide in the country.

Tillis said that “nobody is clean here” and warned that both sides of the political spectrum must acknowledge harmful behavior instead of continuing an escalating cycle of attacks. While expressing concerns over the current political climate, Tillis said he would support Mr. Blanche’s nomination while hoping to see a change in approach.

The comments come amid a broader debate over the future of the Department of Justice, government accountability, and the need for public trust in American institutions.

In this video, we break down Thom Tillis’ statement, his support for Todd Blanche, the nomination controversy, and the political reaction surrounding the DOJ.

00:00I'm going to support Mr. Blanche's nomination, but what I hope I see out of him is a bending of
00:05the curve of this absurdity.
00:07The 86-47, some bonehead in North Carolina thinks that that's a crime.
00:13Well, they better damn sure have information to back it up, because if all it is is a picture, that
00:17person should lose his job.
00:19Thank you, Mr. Chairman, and thank you, Senator Cornyn.
00:22I am by no means going to match up against Senator Cornyn, a lawyer and a former judge, except to
00:29say that I believe that we have addressed the concerns that I have.
00:33The first one, I called the payout pot for punks.
00:35I've never liked this 1776 fund.
00:38It made no sense to me, and I thought it was an insult to the police officers and the people
00:42that defended us on January the 6th.
00:44It's done.
00:45It's been rescinded, and I am satisfied.
00:49I also feel like Senator Cornyn addressed the other piece of it that has to do with the audit, to
00:55my satisfaction.
00:56You know, the thing that interests me, and I'm kind of curious about the speeches that come after here, is
01:03how everybody has this view of they are as pure as the driven snow, and it's the other side that
01:09has a problem.
01:10I think we both have a problem, folks.
01:12If you want to talk about weaponization, take a look at the Biden administration.
01:18Take a look at the Obama administration.
01:20Take a look at Crossfire Hurricane.
01:23Take a look at the codes that Lois Lerner used in the IRS to target businesses to try and unbank
01:29them.
01:30Take a look at the prospective pardons on the way out the door that President Biden did for family members,
01:36for staff members in Congress.
01:39The bottom line is nobody is clean here.
01:41And until we start recognizing this behavior as bad, we're just going to one-up it.
01:46Maybe it's a little bit more intense in this administration than the last one, and that a little bit more
01:52intense than the prior administration, and so on and so forth.
01:55But, folks, we've got to end this stuff.
01:58We do.
01:59I'm going to support Mr. Blanche's nomination.
02:01But what I hope I see out of him is a bending of the curve of this absurdity.
02:08The 86-47, some bonehead in North Carolina thinks that that's a crime.
02:14Well, they better damn sure have information to back it up, because if all it is is a picture, that
02:18person should lose his job, his or her job.
02:21Similarly, the people who went after Republicans in the Biden administration should probably be disbarred or disciplined.
02:29So, at the end of the day, don't act like you're standing on some sort of moral high ground if
02:34you start attacking this administration, because I can match you almost deed for deed.
02:39What I would like to see here is maybe people saying, instead of criticizing people on the other side of
02:47the aisle, why don't you go back and hold your own caucus and your conference to our standard?
02:52That's what I'm doing.
02:54That's what Senator Cornyn's doing, and that's what I think the American people want more of.
02:59And, Mr. Chair, thank you for your patience.
03:01I know from time to time, I don't like delaying markups, but I thought that this was a very important
03:08one, because we got to a good outcome.
03:10And I appreciate Mr. Blanche working in good faith, and I am prepared to vote yes today in his confirmation,
03:16or in moving his confirmation or nomination forward.
