00:17Why is lockdown the most dangerous pay-per-view of the year? That's real simple. Steel cage.
00:23The possibility for injury during this pay-per-view is just crazy intense.
00:28I've been in a lot of steel cage matches, but the steel cage that they use for lockdown is just,
00:36I mean, it's unforgiving.
00:39It doesn't tickle. It hurts, and it hurts a lot.
00:43You've enclosed desperate men inside a steel structure, and it doesn't matter what piece of the cage that you may
00:50physically hit, it hurts.
00:52Over the next 30 minutes, we will take a special look at two of the matches that will headline TNA
00:58Wrestling's most violent pay-per-view of the year,
01:00and look back at some of the memories that will be forever etched in the annals of time.

01:06Brutal.

01:08Terrifying.

01:18Some of TNA Wrestling's most insane moments have taken place inside the steel cage.
01:24Let's take a look back and relive some of these memories that still have fans talking today.

01:38I was actually right at the floor, and I was looking right up at him, and all I was thinking,

01:47It was a brilliant move and one that will go down in history for TNA.
01:52Couldn't believe the chance that this wrestler took and what he could have done to his body.
02:00That was the most dangerous move I've ever seen.
02:03I think the first thought that went through my mind is, thank God that kid's not dead.
02:09He took one hell of a risk doing that move.
02:14After calling thousands of matches through the years, Elix Skipper walking the top of the cage,
02:20the craziest thing I think I've ever seen in professional wrestling.

03:05For the most part, you had two athletes who were the best in the world, who are the best
03:11in the world, and the best at what they do, and that's go in there and grapple.
03:14And, uh, Kurt, for all his accolades, that night, for all his wanted championships and his long-story career,
03:23he came up against an undeniable fact, that I was TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
03:37That passion for doing what some people will call crazy, to me, it's just a calculated risk.
03:44Um, I know that every time I do something dangerous or potentially life-threatening,
03:50that I'm gonna come out of it unscathed.
03:52And, I mean, if I ever, for a second, doubted that, I wouldn't go through with it.
03:58Jeff Hardy hits all the way to the top of the steel cage!
04:03Jeff, don't do it! You're freaking out of your mind! Don't do it, Jeff!
04:08Jeff, don't do it!
04:11Oh, my God!
04:16One, two, three!
04:19Oh, gosh, uh, I remember it like it was yesterday.
04:24Jeff Hardy doing a swanton, and, you know, when you do a move like that, you just pray to God
04:30that nobody gets seriously injured.
04:32And I was thinking, in that match, when he was coming off there, and I couldn't move, I was so
04:37tired and banged up, and I saw him coming,
04:39and I thought, this guy's gonna split me in half, and I just prayed to God, please, don't let me
04:44get injured.
04:45And Jeff nailed it, and it was just an amazing moment.
04:48I was very proud of that match, not because I lost or I won, but because Jeff and I went
04:54out there and we locked the house.
04:56These extreme matches are my comfort zone, and whether you're dealing with ladders, chairs, tables, or cages, I mean, that
05:04is my claim to fame,
05:05and for the rest of my life, I will be tagged as that.
05:11Life is a risk.
05:12I've never been afraid of anything in my life.
05:15I've always done what it takes to get the job done, and I've had many cage matches over my career.
05:21I've always found a way to persevere, and if that meant putting my own physical well-being on the line,
05:26so be it.
05:27These athletes dance on the edge.
05:29Sometimes the moment gets you.
05:31You know, you're sitting there all day looking at that cage, and you're thinking of things that you can do,
05:36and sometimes you're thinking of things you don't want to do.
05:40They put it all on the line.
05:41At this point in my career, what do I have to lose?
05:45They create anxiety.
05:47It's a competition for me just to top myself, and that's always hard.
05:50You know, there's a limitation on moves that you can do, but there's always innovation, and that's always around,
05:56and you just got to study your surroundings and challenge yourself, and that does.
06:01It stresses me out sometimes, but I will continue to challenge myself each year.
06:06They stop hearts.
06:07I think just the attitude and the way that the guys and girls in our locker room, you know, treat
06:14this business
06:15and treat the pay-per-views, and every night we go out there, we try to steal the show.
06:20They dare so they can achieve.
06:22On Sunday, March 10th, TNA Wrestling will put San Antonio, Texas on lockdown.
06:28I'm so excited to take lockdown to San Antonio, Texas for the first time ever, and I know that that
06:36crowd's going to be hot.
06:37It's going to be a great night.
06:38Wow, I could tell you being in San Antonio, I've been there many times, and it's just such an incredible
06:46wrestling town, a lot of history there.
06:48And for TNA to finally go there and have a pay-per-view like lockdown, the fans are going to
06:54be on fire.
06:55I'm from Texas, and Texas has a rich tradition and a rich history in wrestling for the biggest and the
07:03best.
07:05And I think it's a perfect place for lockdown to take place.
07:08It's a perfect place for TNA to submit its name in wrestling history by taking their biggest event into the
07:15biggest state in the Union,
07:17the greatest state that there is, the state of Texas.
07:20And the history is so rich, and it's an opportunity for TNA to place their flag right there where they
07:26belong.
07:26First of all, the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas, is one of the greatest places to ever wrestle in.
07:34I mean, some of my best memories are in the Alamo Dome.
07:38And the crowd there, there isn't anyone who has anything on them as far as crowd reaction and involvement, and
07:48they love wrestling out there.
07:50Wait a minute. Go, go.
07:53Oh, no.
07:53No.
07:55Party.
07:56Hits all the way to the top of the steel cage.

08:04The talking is over.

08:20It's considered one of the most dangerous matches in professional wrestling.
08:24Lethal Lockdown.
08:27Aces and 8s and Team TNA will battle inside a steel cage.
08:32Will Team TNA finally be able to put an end to the chaotic path of destruction laid down by this
08:39group of thugs?
08:40I truly believe that the Aces and 8s and their membership is truly the most feared group ever here in
08:48Impact Wrestling.
08:48And there have been some feared groups over the years, my friend, but no one feared to this level.
08:53I mean, walking around the back in the locker room and looking at everybody.
08:56I've never quite seen in the year that I've been here the edginess and the nervousness of people looking over
09:02their shoulders.
09:03No one knows when these Aces and 8s guys are going to attack next and show up.
09:07Without a doubt, they are feared.
09:11I hope, after lockdown, this will be the end of Aces and 8s.
09:15I, amongst other people, are getting very tired of them coming and interrupting so much of what we're trying to
09:25accomplish here.
09:26And if they just had the real guts to come out and say what they want and show who they
09:32were, I'd have a lot more respect for them.
09:34I don't.
09:36Will this be the end of Aces and 8s?
09:38I'll say not.
09:39I say, you know, they've obviously had this plan well-hatched, well-thought-out for quite some time.
09:46And I'm sure they've got a couple more Aces or 8s up their sleeve.
09:51Well, if myself and my partners in this match have anything to do with it, yes, it will be the
09:57last time you see Aces and 8s.
09:59You see, we're banding together, and I'm a special part of that group.
10:03I'm kind of the newcomer, the outsider.
10:05But I still have a goal in mind, and it's the goal of my other four partners.
10:10To take out Aces and 8s.
10:12To destroy them.
10:13To weave them out.
10:14And run them out of TNA.
10:16I do not believe that it will be the end of Aces and 8s.
10:25Maybe the end of the domination that they've had for so long.
10:31I mean, that's the goal.
10:33And if I go into it with any other kind of attitude or mindset, then I open the door for
10:40failure.
10:41And that can't happen.
10:42You know, I think with the roster we have, when they do the team TNA and then the team Aces
10:48and 8s, I think this could be the end of team Aces and 8s.
10:51Just because, I mean, you get a group of guys like we have in our locker room, you know, and
10:56very talented guys.
10:58It definitely could be the end of Aces and 8s.
11:01I think that they're despicable.
11:03I think they're egregious in their behavior.
11:06I think that they have violated everybody's basic civil human rights around Impact Wrestling.
11:11I think they're no good.
11:12And I think, I think, no, I know.
11:16I know they need to go.
11:18Aces and 8s, they're a bunch of hooligans.
11:21And they bring nothing, nothing plausible to Impact Wrestling.
11:26They must go.
11:28Its name is synonymous with violence, blood, and revenge.
11:34Lethal Lockdown is such a violent match for several reasons.
11:37And I used to always say this to my brother Chris Abyss.
11:41A Lethal Lockdown match, it's not a matter of if you're going to get hurt.
11:45It's a matter of when and how badly.
11:48This match is the most brutal match in all of professional wrestling.
11:53All members locked in a cage, steel reinforced cage, no rules, no way out, must be a winner, weapons involved.
12:04Need I say more?
12:05This thing is going to be a knock-down, drag-out fight.
12:10And at the very end, hopefully we'll be left standing.
12:15It's a violent match because everybody's locked inside of a cage and there's no, no way out.
12:21There's weapons involved.
12:25And man, you've got everything culminating all, you know, it's, it's, it's, it's all coming to a head.
12:33Anger, frustrations, revenge, vindication, you know, all the way down the line.
12:42There's jealousy, there's, there's every kind of, uh, chaos in that match.
12:51Lethal Lockdown's an unusual situation where, you know, first you're locking a large group of men into a cage.
13:01And then shortly thereafter, you drop in a cornucopia of weapons.
13:06And then it's pretty much, uh, all bets off, no holds barred, do what you have to do to win.
13:11It's a nice environment to be in.
13:13Lethal Lockdown, a brutal spectacle.
13:17Once the ominous structure grabs your attention, it's impossible to look away.
13:23You know, the future of Aces and Apes is all dependent on who can still walk when that match is
13:30over with.
13:32You know, we are going into that match for one reason and one reason only.
13:36And it's to destroy an organization.
13:39It's to take out each and every one of them systematically, one by one.
13:45And we will.
13:47These guys have come in and turned this place upside down.
13:50And not by their wrestling, but by their viciousness and cruelty and their behavior overall.
13:56I do not think there's a place at all for Aces and Apes and the shenanigans that they have pulled
14:02in Impact Wrestling.
14:04This whole Aces and Apes thing has really snowballed into something huge.
14:07And, you know, they're a powerful, powerful group.
14:13And if the team DNA can stop, the more power to them.
14:16But I don't see Aces and Apes stopping their momentum for a long time.
14:23You know, my thoughts on Aces and Apes are pretty simple.
14:28It's what I think about any band of cowards that come together
14:32in an attempt to be something more than what they could never be themselves.
14:37And it's that no matter how many tactics they employ, no matter how big they're numbers,
14:44they can't stand against men like us.
14:46And they won't that night.
14:48Team TNA, Aces and Apes, all I can say is it better be no contest.
14:54But Team TNA takes them down fast and easy.
14:58Wow.
14:59The battle between Team TNA and Aces and Apes is going to be profound because it's at a boiling point.
15:08It's like a pimple that's ready to pop.
15:10It's like the volcano ready to explode.
15:12And it's all going to explode at lockdown.
15:16And there's got to be a winner.
15:17There's got to be somebody that stands tall at the end of the night and says,
15:21you know what, we're victorious.
15:22And there's either going to be the end of the Aces and Apes or a new beginning,
15:27and a new beginning for TNA or a new beginning for Aces and Apes and a pretty bleak future for
15:32TNA.
15:33Aces and Apes, Team TNA.
15:37Eight men will battle.
15:39Once the steel roof lowers, there is only one word that can describe this match.
15:46Violent.
15:47But when it comes to lethal lockdown this year, I think I have to go with that ruthless team known
15:54as Aces and Apes.
15:55And for really one reason, Team TNA's side has Joseph Park.
16:01He's got the size, he's got the power, he's got the lack of experience also.
16:07And I would expect Aces and Apes to exploit that lack of experience and Aces and Apes win the lethal
16:13lockdown.
16:14On March 10th, a year of chaos, a year of bloodshed, a year of destruction will be settled inside lethal
16:25lockdown.
16:26Will this be the end of Aces and Apes?
16:29Prepare yourself for the carnage.
16:32The harbinger of hell awaits.
16:39The champion, put him away!
16:41Yes!
16:42I mean, I broke my belt several times during the match and out of nowhere my leg was gone.
16:46When Aces and Apes destroys everything around here and you're left laying, what are you going to do when your
16:53world title is gone?
16:55Oh God!
16:56Man, I got hit really hard.
16:59The injury is pretty much healed.
17:01You know, the doctor says, next week I'll be good to go.
17:04So now, I give you your number one contender to go against Jeff Hardy.
17:11Lockdown, Bully Ray.
17:13He is the only man for the job.
17:16Bully Ray being the number one contender, he's real tough.
17:20And we're talking about a steel cage match.
17:23And, uh, it doesn't get much better.
17:25Bully wants to be the world champion so bad.
17:27And I want to remain the world champion so bad.
17:30So it's going to possibly have the best cage match of all time.
17:35Next week, we, the creatures, will re-emerge.
17:38On January 13th at Genesis, Jeff Hardy successfully defended his TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
17:47Oh, Jeff might be in trouble here.
17:50Oh!
17:50Genesis, you know, it's the beginning of everything when it comes to the new year.
17:54And I'm off to a really good start to 2013.
17:57As long as I can remain a TNA World Champion.
17:59Man, the sky is truly the limit.
18:01On January 24th, Hardy defended his title yet again.
18:06Champion!
18:07Put him away!
18:08Yes!
18:09I heard the crown.
18:10I mean, I broke my belt several times during the match.
18:13And I got hit with something hard.
18:15Really hard.
18:17It's a bruise.
18:18Probably ended up with a black eye.
18:19What looks like major ligaments seem like they're all right.
18:22Could just be a bad sprain.
18:23Not too swollen yet.
18:25You're in a lot of pain, like on this side right there.
18:27It's mainly towards the back.
18:29It's not even too bad up here.
18:31All right, can you bend it back a little bit?
18:32It feels bad.
18:33And hopefully tomorrow it don't look as bad.
18:36But I just have to stay positive.
18:38He is a fighting champion.
18:40Willing to put everything on the line every time that he steps into the ring.
18:45Lockdown this year, what's most important for me is just going to be for other fans to experience this lodge.
18:51And the fans can expect to again witness in Texas what TNA is all about.
19:00Jeff Hardy in a steel cage scares me very much.
19:03I know how he is.
19:04I know how he likes to take it to the extreme level of anything humanly possible.
19:14And I'm not sure where it comes from in hell.
19:17Jeff Hardy's not afraid because he's not that bright.
19:21This guy's spent his whole career taking risks, pulling off daredevil stunts that most men would look at and realize
19:27that aren't real healthy or safe for your future well-being.
19:31I don't think Jeff thinks like that.
19:32I think Jeff lives in the moment and he does whatever he has to do in that moment to be
19:36successful.
19:37And whether I like it or not, I don't expect this to be any different.
19:46Jeff Hardy's lack of fear comes from deep down inside of Jeff Hardy.
19:53Unfortunately, I don't think Jeff knows what it feels like to be afraid of anything because he attacks everything with
20:00a reckless abandon.
20:01And Jeff puts his body and he puts his life, frankly, in jeopardy every time he steps into the ring.
20:06Lock him inside of a cage, even more jeopardy.
20:09Once the crowd starts getting loud, that makes you do stuff that normally you wouldn't do.
20:16Honestly, when the time comes that I can't do these types of matches anymore, I mean, it's, you know, Jeff
20:25Hardy is not going to be around if he can't do these types of things because that's what makes me
20:32who I am.
20:32And basically, if I can't do those things, you know, I don't want to be a professional wrestler, my time
20:40will have came.
20:42I've been in the ring with Jeff Hardy.
20:45I've also been in the ring with Bully Ray.
20:46And, you know, Bully Ray has redefined himself, has really proved to the wrestling world that he is someone to
20:56take very seriously.
20:57And now this is his opportunity to become a world champion.
20:59And I don't think there's anybody on the roster right now, including Jeff Hardy, that may be able to stop
21:07him.
21:07Bully Ray, a man that has never raised the World Heavyweight Championship.
21:13I am really, really hoping that Lockdown 2013 is the day Bully Ray finally becomes the TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
21:27That's been my goal for a long time right now.
21:30For one reason or the other, I haven't been able to achieve that goal.
21:35But I'm going to go into that cage, and I'm going to look Jeff Hardy dead in his eyes.
21:40And trust me, me and Jeff have looked at each other before on some of the biggest stages of pro
21:48wrestling.
21:49I know what Jeff does.
21:51Jeff knows what I do.
21:53At Lockdown, Bully Ray is going to be very hungry.
21:56And when it comes to cage matches, he's extremely familiar.
22:00When it comes to extreme styles, he's extremely familiar.
22:04We have a lot of history.
22:07And he may be a little hungrier because he's never been the world champion.
22:11But I'll do whatever it takes once again to defend my title.
22:17Hey, I'm very realistic, and there's always a chance that I can lose.
22:22And sure, I would say Bully's probably going to be more hungry to become world champion.
22:28It's going to be one hell of a world heavyweight championship match.
22:35But I plan on winning.
22:39I think with the world title on the line, being in San Antonio, being at such a major pay-per
22:46-view like Lockdown, I don't think Bully Ray will slow down.
22:50I think Bully Ray is going to become a new world heavyweight champion.
22:52Yeah, I mean, honestly, how could you say no?
22:57How could anyone deny that at this point?
23:00I mean, Bully has proved himself over and over and over again.
23:05He's a formidable athlete.
23:08He's, you know, 300 pounds.
23:11He's got the best calves in the business for kind of a lot.
23:15It's going to be interesting to have two such strong, popular personalities in such a big event.
23:23I'm really looking forward to it.
23:25Bully Ray has waited a long time for this opportunity.
23:27And for him not to seize this and make the very most of it, the odds are usually in the
23:32champion's favor.
23:33In this one, this is a throw-em-up-and-pick-em.
23:37It's a great opportunity for Bully Ray, and I think he's going to use it to his utmost to do
23:42whatever he's got to do to attain victory.
23:44After Bully Ray joined TNA Wrestling in 2005, his career has seen its ups and downs.
23:50He is one of the most decorated tag team champions of all time, but is still in search of his
23:56first world title.
23:58You think about the near two dozen times that he's been a world tag team champion.
24:04This would really cement his legacy in professional wrestling in terms of his history, what he's accomplished, if he can
24:12finally do it.
24:14Will it take winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship to make my career complete?
24:19As a pro wrestler, I always knew that I wanted to be one half of the most successful tag team
24:27that ever lived.
24:29And me and D-Von accomplished that.
24:32Now that I've branched off by myself, I have new goals.
24:36It's going to be a great night for me if I can win that World Heavyweight Championship.
24:40And it's going to add the cherry on top to an already great career.
24:45But it's not going to define my career because I have accomplished so much.
24:51Don't get me wrong.
24:52It's very, very important to me.
24:55And I've been chasing it for so freaking long now.
24:59I just have to win it.
25:02You know, my wedding to Brooke was supposed to be one of the greatest nights of my life.
25:10It turned into the biggest nightmare.
25:14I was hurt.
25:17The man who has trusted me, Sting, was hurt.
25:20I'm going to do everything I possibly can to make sure that that gang feels the wrath of Bully Ray.
25:31Everyone has come back.
25:34Aces and Ates has not yet put anyone away for good.
25:39There are certain people that you can beat down and they'll go away.
25:44Or they'll shut up.
25:46Bully Ray, in my opinion, is the kind of guy that the more you beat him down, he's going to
25:52come back with that much more vengeance.
25:54You know, he didn't get the name Bully just by being nice and by being a sissy.
25:59First of all, I don't have a soft side.
26:01Let's just get that straight.
26:03Because I'll get out of this chair right now and come punch you in the face and show you just
26:06how soft my soft side is.
26:09Every tough guy in the world likes to be nice to his chick.
26:15If there's one person in the world that you're going to be nicer to or quote-unquote show a soft
26:21side to, it's your girl, your wife, your girlfriend.
26:25But some guys, it's their daughters.
26:27But in no way does that make you soft.
26:30There's one thing that I know about Bully.
26:31He's one tough son of a sissy and the guy can take a beating.
26:36The beating that he took from aces and eights was something that I've rarely seen before.
26:41But if there is a guy that can come back from that, it's going to be Bully Ray.
26:47So don't ever make the mistake of calling me soft again.
26:51Because in one quick second, that camera and you will be turned upside down.
26:56How's that for soft?
26:58You punk-ass b****.
27:00Aces and eights have laid their hands pretty severely on both Bully and Jeff Hardy.
27:10So no one has an advantage there.
27:13They've both been affected physically by these guys.
27:17It'll be interesting to see if there's any lasting result from that for either of them.
27:24There's just something about guys like us that, you know, you're down and before you know it, you're back up
27:30and kicking ass again.
27:31So I'll never count Bully Ray out.
27:34All the years that I've known Bully Ray, I would say now more than ever, I don't see one weakness
27:42in the guy.
27:43He looks better than he's ever looked before.
27:45He's more confident than he's ever been and it's pretty intimidating.
27:50Me and Jeff probably know each other better than just about any other opponents, you know, on this roster.
27:58There's a lot of weakness in Jeff Hardy.
28:01Just like there's a lot of weakness in me sometimes.
28:03It's just a matter of you're only going to get that weakness for a split second.
28:09It's a question on who can capitalize on the other guy's weakness at any given moment.
28:15What am I willing to do to win the world title?
28:18I'm surprised you'd even ask me a question like that.
28:29If I can win that world heavyweight title and then take my last gasp of air,
28:34at least I know that my last second on this planet, I was the TNA world heavyweight champion.
28:41I'll do whatever it takes.
28:43I have to make sure that I have absolutely nothing on my mind except Jeff Hardy and the TNA world
28:54heavyweight title.

29:59For years, the men and women of TNA Wrestling have gathered on this unholy,
30:04night to settle personal vendettas and blood feuds.
30:08To me, it's the best place to settle this because it's you against him.
30:11It's mainly one-on-one, man-to-man.
30:14And, I mean, like I said, you just do whatever you have to do to win.
30:16Obviously, the steel cage is a place you want to settle personal views because there's nowhere to run, nowhere to
30:21hide.
30:21It's you, the guy, and a bunch of steel.
30:24And that's the last thing you want around you is steel.
30:28I'd rather have ropes and the floor than have a steel cage around me.
30:34So, it is a weapon in itself, and it can be very, very brutal.
30:38There's no escape.
