00:18Defense lawyer Kitzen Fung told reporters after the hearing that the teenager had expressed

00:25Fung also told the court that the defense would rely on psychiatric evidence to support
00:31a claim of unsoundness of mind under Section 84 of the Penal Code.
00:36Hospital Bahagia Ulukinta psychiatrist Dr Ian Lloyd Anthony testified about the teenager's
00:41mental state, including his treatment and clinical findings.
00:45Fung said the psychiatrist testified that the teenager had experienced mental illness and
00:50delusions for about five years, including symptoms of psychosis and schizophrenia.
00:55Fung added that untreated mental illness, particularly from childhood, could worsen.
01:01The psychiatrist is expected to continue testifying this afternoon, including possible cross-examination,
01:07before the defense concludes its case and makes its submissions.
01:11The teenager is charged with murdering a 16-year-old girl in a school toilet in Banda Utama between
01:189.20 a.m. and 9.35 a.m. on October 14, 2025.
01:23Although Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the death penalty, Section 97 of the Child Act
01:292001 bars the death penalty for offenders who were below 18 at the time the offense was committed.
