00:00I didn't love the hire but I really didn't like the fact that you hired an offensive guy
00:05and then he hired Nathaniel Hackett to be the offensive coordinator that that didn't make a
00:10lot of sense to me I'm not the biggest Nathaniel Hackett fan but I thought wait a minute you're
00:15being hired for your quarterback your offensive mind and yet you bring in a guy who has not been
00:21that successful as an OC in the NFL how has the staff are you any issues with the staff for
00:27you
00:27with a guy who's unproven no because and here's why it's a brilliant point but you would imagine
00:33the most trusted confidant in the world of Mike LaFleur is his brother and Nathaniel Hackett used
00:40to be up in the booth talking to Matt LaFleur with the Packers and because of that I think that
00:47there's a connection there that it's hey you're the one calling the plays what Hackett proved he
00:52couldn't do in New York and proved he couldn't do in Denver you're not asking him to do that you're
00:58asking him to be the eyes and ears as an offensive coordinator and be a good offensive mind during the
01:05week and just be an extra set of eyes on Sundays but not actually calling the plays so you put
01:11me
01:11in the position that no one ever does where I actually defend a decision by the Cardinals and I
01:15think it's been five years since I've done that so that one doesn't bother me I actually like
01:22Mike LaFleur so far the way he handles his press conferences the things he says and what I'm
01:27seeing on offense I kind of like everything that he's doing and I think that they have the right
01:35people in place defensively so I actually liked what I saw from Nick Rollis the last couple years
01:41now I can't back that up statistically at all but I blame more of the drafts than I do the
01:48scheme
01:49all right speaking of the draft they took a running back very very high and they're gonna
01:54pay him a lot of money in Jeremiah Love out of Notre Dame you okay with the selecting of a
01:59running
01:59back that high I I think the biggest way you could insult me is to call me a hypocrite and
02:05yet I am the
02:06biggest hypocrite in the world on that pick you do not under any circumstances draft a running back
02:12with a top five pick unless it's Jeremiah Love I think that kid is that special and it's not just
02:19what I saw at Notre Dame it's what I learned I may or may not have somebody that used to
02:25be working in
02:26the Notre Dame somewhere I'll just say somewhere in the organization and he speaks glowingly about
02:33them then I read his parents are both retired military retired St. Louis cops yeah I don't think
02:40there's a lot of wusses that are St. Louis cops so when I see that discipline that he gets from
02:47a
02:47military parental background when I see the support he has from his family but I also see the grades
02:54and then I see the way he ran the football at Notre Dame and then I know the stories behind
03:00the scenes
03:01of how his teammates felt about him I see a complete package and he's not afraid to block and he
03:07can catch
03:08so yeah if it would have been anybody else I would have said no this team is terrible why would
03:15you
03:15get a running back before the draft before the offensive line why would you do that before this
03:20before that well here's this what if Mendoza is actually pretty good are you really going to be
03:28upset you drafted Gentee too early everybody said don't draft and I have I didn't love Gentee myself
03:35but it's still the point if you're anti-running back what if the Cardinals get their quarterback
03:40next year or what if they have him then you're going to be thrilled you've got Jeremiah Love
03:46okay so let's talk about what happened at the Hall of Fame game you're are you buying Carson Beck or
03:53do
03:53you think Carson Beck is the quarterback of the future he played pretty well in the in a scrimmage
04:00let's be frank as to who he was facing and a very vanilla defense from the Cardinals or something
04:04sorry from the Panthers Carolina's not going to play like that during the regular season and get
04:08burned over the top as consistently as they did in that football game but do you think Carson Beck has
04:13a shot you're gonna laugh at me because I'm your Cardinals insider I don't know and I don't care
04:19and here's why he was a third round pick I think that's perfect if they would have drafted him in
04:23the
04:23second round I would have had a problem with it I love him as a third round pick he has
04:28looked
04:29almost as good in practice if I was rating practices the Hall of Fame game was his best practice
04:35but there's a lot of the old if you remember the Sean McVay offense with Jared Goff not with Stafford
04:42lots of boots and waggles lots of just get the ball out quickly and simple reads that's a lot of
04:50what
04:50we're seeing with LeFleur right now in practice and it's funny Carson Beck has not been great in
04:58practice at some of the boots and waggles and all of a sudden he lit it up and did really
05:02well in
05:03Carolina so I think Jacoby Brissett's going to start the season and I do believe that you're going to
05:10see very early on enough of Carson Beck for the Cardinals to get one question answered are we in
05:17desperate need of a quarterback in the 27 draft or are we in moderate need of a quarterback or are
05:23we not
05:23in need of a quarterback and they're going to give him enough time to figure that out so do I
05:28think
05:29he's the guy no I don't know maybe but I don't think anybody has to know until January of 2027
