00:02Hello I'm Rosie, Hello's Creative Brand Ambassador and I am in the middle of a
00:07career reset. At the start of this year I marked a change to my 15-year career
00:13editing Hello for a more balanced lifestyle that will enable me to be as
00:17successful at home as at work and to prioritise the values that have become
00:22really important to me at this stage of my life. My reset point was brought on
00:27following a period of exhaustion. It was a shock to my system but crucially it
00:32allowed me some time to do a lot of deep thinking around the concept of resetting
00:37for success and what I wanted the next chapter of my life to be about. I knew
00:42for sure that I couldn't go on like this. At 47 I'm pretty sure my reset was also
00:48tied into my experience of the perimenopause coupled with the ever-changing
00:52demands of family life on top of the intensity of a full-time job
00:57many of us are juggling so much and it's just not working as well as it did but
01:02I didn't want to be another statistic of a perimenopausal midlife woman who drops
01:07out of the workforce potentially at the top of her career. I discovered that I
01:12didn't need to radically change my life but that a positive career reset was
01:17possible and now I want to share some of this insight with you. Three things that
01:23my career reset has taught me are number one we all have choices. Yes we have to
01:30make our life decisions rooted in reality. Most of us have mortgages and bills to pay
01:35and dependents to support but there is still the possibility of changing your
01:40life to improve your happiness. You just have to be determined enough to do all
01:44the planning to make that change possible. Number two journaling is powerful. During
01:51my most challenging times I write down my thoughts. I do this on a note on my
01:56iPhone entitled my future and it's here that I jot down how I'm feeling and have
02:01worked through what success looks like for me now. It really helps me to solidify my
02:07thoughts and is a great reference point if I'm having an anxious day as I can turn to
02:12it to remind myself of my goals. Number three the lowest points almost always lead
02:19to a period of growth. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to make meaningful
02:24change in your life. Recognizing that can be almost impossible when you're right in
02:29the middle of it but if you seek the right help and have a positive mindset I am
02:34pretty sure that one day you will realize that that low happened so that you
02:39might grow into the person that you were always meant to be. And when you are
02:44that low remember the only way is up.
