00:01My relationship to the book before we started shooting the first movie to after we finished
00:09IT2, your desires change completely.
00:13Also your feedback from the reaction of the audiences.
00:17And I think that the idea of telling the story of Welcome to Derry started around the time
00:26we were finishing IT2, the conversations with Bill Skarsgård, we were very curious about
00:32how a movie with the origin of Pennywise would look like.
00:37It was mainly, basically about creating stories around these big events that are very cryptic
00:43in the book.
00:44These events are a product of the research of Mike Hanlon in the interlude chapters, and
00:52as I say, they are sparse, they are inconclusive and truncated.
00:57So we are basically building a full-fledged story around them, because they are so important
01:05in the bigger story that we are creating.
01:09That bigger story is the part that is not in the book.
01:12I think it's incredibly exciting and also something that we feel comfortable doing, because we
01:20know that we have Steve's blessing.
01:22We have great communication with him, and he is a big guy that sees what we do and trusts
01:32us, and trusts our processes, and then gets super excited by it.
01:39So it's an amazing partner, and as a result, we're never scared, I think, to go into new
01:49places where the book hasn't really gone because of the way Steve wrote the interludes, which
01:58is cryptic.
01:59Look, I treat every episode of this show like a movie, even though, you know, there's a continuity
02:06and a flow and a bigger story, but I don't know really what TV looks like.
02:15And so this is a movie told in eight parts, but each episode also feels like a movie.
02:22We were exposed to horror movies very early on, and everything horror, like we were very
02:29attracted to it, but also like my exposure, like very terrified, and I always, I was scared
02:36of ghosts.
02:37Supernatural horror was, you know, I was an insomniac kid where entire nights I was sleeping,
02:46and then cockroaches, which is both, both things were present in my house, yeah, growing
02:52up.
02:54Abandonment and control.
02:58Sorry.
02:59Abandonment and lack of control.
03:01Oh yeah, and that goes.
03:03Special thanks.
03:03Thanks.
