00:02I stepped on the stage and I remember having these pages and I read it and I
00:06had this feeling it was just a feeling it like filled my heart and I and I
00:11thought there's nothing else I can do I can do this well and there's not gonna
00:16be anything else I can do all I know is I try to stay just true to who I am
00:26I'm
00:27from a small town in Oaxaca and I'm a family person I still live back back
00:34home you know but but then at the same time I like the premieres and I like the
00:38glamour and I like the makeup and the thing you know so I have a lot of a lot
00:43of aspects
00:47I think it's incredible when you work with great actors because there's very
00:53little to worry about you know like Mel for example those scenes that I have
00:59with Mel I remember when Mel would just come into set I didn't I didn't need to
01:03prepare anything you know he was just there with all his incredible
01:07electrifying talent and then Mark would be there completely fully believing what
01:13who he was as father Stu and it was heartbreaking and and he would just make
01:19me break down crying because he was so vulnerable so in that sense it was very
01:26easy to work with them because they're they're great actors you know it's like
01:30you're not you're not acting you're just with them you're just sharing
01:37I mean we couldn't find a trace of Carmen the only thing we knew is something
01:42father Stu himself said later on in his life he said I had this girlfriend who her
01:48name was Carmen she was Latina and it was through her that I met God she was so
01:53beautiful she was so kind she was so generous it was so hard for me to let go
01:58of the idea of marrying her and having a life with her and with her community
02:03and that's the only thing I knew and and I know my community I'm from Oaxaca so I
02:09know that Oaxaqueños are very generous they're very kind they're hard-working
02:14they're beautiful and I think it was that they also have all this like love in
02:20their eyes that from those two things that's how I created her
02:27in my experience learning from the greats method acting is simply having your body
02:34and your instruments so ready so facile so vulnerable so that any any emotion can
02:41arise and I feel like that's that's who I became through the years of the work
02:46that I that I did there
02:52after Father Stu I did many beautiful movies I have like five six projects that
02:58are coming out that I am all incredibly proud to be in I did a beautiful movie in
03:02Mexico with another female director Natalia Bristain I did an A24 show I did a
03:09movie in Bolivia I've just finished working with a the creator of my show is
03:15Sean Hatter from CODA then the very last job that I did so there's so many that
03:20are coming out that I'm extremely proud of and I think I got a little Father Stu
03:24blessing in that sense
03:26you
