00:00I think that the biggest challenge was just trying to figure out what the tone was, you know, because there's
00:08a lot of really serious moments in the movie, but it's also a thrill ride.
00:12And so you kind of need to know when to pull back. You need to know when to be a
00:17little bit bolder.
00:18And that's where Michael Showalter, our director, was just the best partner, because we would do the scenes.
00:23And then every once in a while, he would just have a crazy idea and just have you make a
00:27choice that you could not believe.
00:29You couldn't even imagine it working out.
00:33And, like, I remember there was this one where, you know, Verity's doing something awful.
00:37She's ignoring her children's cries so she can get more sleep.
00:41And I was – and Michael just came to me.
00:43He's like, okay, we're just going to do it one more time.
00:45Can you just get into bed, like, and be the happiest person who's ever gotten into bed?
00:48And I was like, okay.
00:49And I just, for some reason, thought, like, what if I, like, waltz my way into bed?
00:53Like, it's so weird.
00:55And he yelled cut, and we both burst out laughing, and we're like, well, that'll never be in the movie.
01:00And we were wrong.
01:01It's in the movie, and it's just that next level, like, creepy and wrong.
01:05So I think just, like, it wasn't a challenge to trust Michael, but just, like, allowing yourself the freedom to
01:10play.
01:14Everybody was here to play.
01:15Yeah.
01:16Like, it wasn't – I didn't feel like there was an ego on set, you know?
01:21And it feels like – you don't always get that with people when you're working in this sort of intimate
01:26way.
01:27And I just felt like everybody was there to kind of do the same thing and have fun doing it.
01:32And I think, you know, I think it came from the top.
01:36You guys are producing it.
01:37Michael's director.
01:38You guys, like, had it all figured out before we got there.
01:40Great crew, too.
01:41Everybody just had a nice time.
01:42Yeah.
01:43Yeah.
01:46We all have different theories, I think.
01:49Josh – Josh has crazy theories.
01:53But I – as me, I'm aware that Loan is a crazy person.
01:58Yeah.
01:59As Verity and myself, I'm aware that Loan's a crazy person.
02:07I think I love characters that are a little bit more complex psychologically.
02:12I find it so much fun to kind of map that out.
02:17And then – but in this instance, because you're going to see at the end this other perspective, I had
02:24to be on Jeremy's side throughout the whole thing.
02:27And I had to come up with reasons why – there were a couple of things in there that I
02:30was like, Michael, does he really have to say this?
02:32Does he really – could he not say something else there?
02:34And it has to be that way because it's in the book.
02:38But I – yeah.
02:42You just kind of – for me, I had to incorporate that, but I didn't – I don't know.
02:45I think that it's – what's great about all three of these characters is that they all have alternate kind
02:52of intentions at different times to what I guess most audience members would think is the right way to be,
02:59which is good.
03:00And you can all go debate about who's right at the end.
03:06I think this movie touches into, like, so many fears.
03:10Like, the idea that you think you know someone and, like, the mask gets pulled off or you find out
03:16they were lying to you and, like, somebody you gave your heart to.
03:19And they're just not who they said they were.
03:22It's not even who you thought they were.
03:23It's not who they said they were.
03:25That's a horrifying thing to live through.
03:28And so I think the movie just made me grateful that I don't have that and hope that I don't
03:35have that, you know?
03:37Adam, look out.
03:39Yeah.
03:40I think it's a real thing that people can suddenly become somebody else and you don't recognize them anymore.
03:48And it's that, like, I know people.
03:51I've lived that reality and I know people that have experienced that.
03:55In this case, it's, like, you know, life-threatening.
03:59But I do think it's a constant fear when you're vulnerable with somebody or you give your heart to someone
04:05in whatever capacity that they could just break it or drop it or on a dime turn into somebody else.
04:13I think a lot of the problems in this film could have been solved by a little bit more open
04:16communication.

04:18A conversation would have been nice.
