00:00:15starting early so that i can look at it on my phone and see if it's all sounds good uh
00:00:21if it
00:00:22is we're gonna start a little early because why not i'm just here to answer questions and hang
00:00:27out it'll be a good time um i do need to pull up on my screen uh this live stream
00:00:36and that's what i'm
00:00:38doing right now uh looks like it's working good good good all right i see everybody uh in the
00:00:51chat i'm gonna get going in just a second i'm just checking everything's making uh making sure
00:00:56everything's working looks like it's working to me
00:01:01let me make sure yeah it's working if the audio is low i apologize just turn it up
00:01:07we'll be golden all right hey everybody uh my name is alex freeberg better known as alex the
00:01:15analyst on youtube we're gonna be doing a little live stream um i'm gonna be doing these live
00:01:21streams i'm committing to doing them for the next several months maybe even to the end of the year
00:01:25if i'm feeling wild uh once a week on thursdays at 9 a.m um i am committing to doing
00:01:33this because i've
00:01:34heard everyone's feedback people keep messaging me saying we want more live streams i am not a live
00:01:40streamer that's not really my thing but i'm a man of the people if people ask for it i try
00:01:45to give
00:01:45it to them and i've had enough people reach out where i'm like okay i should probably just do it
00:01:50if not for them just for everybody um but i'm gonna start uh just real quick in the chat i
00:01:57see a
00:01:57bunch of people uh this is awesome let me see there's already over 115 people in here you guys
00:02:02are awesome thank you for joining you didn't have to join it's 9 a.m on a thursday for me
00:02:08i don't know
00:02:09what time it is where you are um but sometimes people will be like i stayed up till 2 a
00:02:14.m to watch
00:02:14this and i'm like you didn't have to do that i'll record it but they you know people have questions
00:02:19um but cyber looks like cyber security that's his name cool name uh thanks for being in here
00:02:27had to come up with a uh wait he said didn't get to witness the come up story of alex
00:02:32but i'm here
00:02:33now baby that's right that's right i was not always a big youtuber uh for the most of my journey
00:02:39i was a
00:02:39very small youtuber um i call my i say youtuber i'm not really even a youtuber i'm just uh uh
00:02:46a
00:02:47normal guy who works on or videos on youtube um i so how these work if you haven't been to
00:02:54any of
00:02:54my live streams i've done a ton of them in the past um over the past five or six years
00:02:58on youtube
00:02:59i have done a ton of live streams and usually here's how they work really well
00:03:03is i just read the chat and if i ask if i answer your question great don't spam in there
00:03:09i spam gets annoying i usually have a moderator in here um matthew but i think matthew is in
00:03:15charleston right now with his uh family and so he may not uh be here for that and that's totally
00:03:21okay
00:03:21that might be too high and that's totally okay um but if you start spamming questions and stuff
00:03:28like that i may have to uh mute you and that's not fun yeah that got too high on my
00:03:33on my thing
00:03:33that got too high um so we're gonna get started i'm just gonna say hi to some people then we're
00:03:38gonna get going and then you guys can ask any questions you want it doesn't mean i'm gonna
00:03:42answer them um sometimes your question may be similar to someone else's question i just answered
00:03:47and i'm not gonna answer it um but i'm literally just looking at the chat right now so thank you
00:03:52guys
00:03:52for joining i appreciate it uh let's see we got wisdom from nigeria we got patnala from india taha
00:04:02from iraq got a lot of people in here uh from south africa zambia nigeria chicago all right we had
00:04:09a
00:04:09lot of people from everywhere else but then we got someone from chicago that's what's up uh my sister
00:04:14actually lives near chicago um kenya ghana greece this is awesome somalia a lot of uh international
00:04:23people this is this is awesome hungary thank you guys for joining um uh real quick before we dive into
00:04:31anything uh let me just make sure my camera is uh picking up on my face there it goes because
00:04:40i was
00:04:40worried for a little bit it just does that i can't control that all right guys here's how it's
00:04:46gonna go i'm just gonna answer questions any questions i don't care what it's about uh unless i just
00:04:52don't want to answer it so here we go um do we need machine learning for analysis this is from
00:04:57small
00:04:58world uh in general no and back when i worked on the data science team we used a lot of
00:05:02machine
00:05:02learning mostly in r um that's just what my team used so we use a lot of machine learning with
00:05:07an r
00:05:08computer and uh for the most part no most analysis of data is typically done with historical data or
00:05:17current data machine learning is typically used to forecast or predict or uh even populate data
00:05:24that's used for a lot of different things but typically isn't done for a ton of analysis if you're
00:05:29analyzing historical previous data so no it's not used a ton some companies do merge multiple roles
00:05:37together where it's a data scientist and a data analyst uh into one role and they'll call it a
00:05:42data analyst so they can pay them less and then they'll use machine learning but most traditional
00:05:46data analysts will not use uh machine learning um you helped me oh i saw someone they just said you
00:05:54helped me land my first role in uh data i didn't oh here it is taha na na fall i'm
00:06:01sorry if i
00:06:02butchered that name but i'm so happy to hear that congratulations that's amazing i love hearing
00:06:06people's stories so if you want to post your story kind of like your background people like hearing
00:06:11about that and reading about it so um we'd love to hear it uh mr ramiz is ai use good
00:06:17or bad as a
00:06:18data analyst in future i think everyone's going to be using some type of ai in the future as of
00:06:24right
00:06:24now not every company utilizes it um most big tech almost every big tech company or even fortune 500
00:06:30company are using some version or form most startups are using it most small and medium
00:06:35sized companies haven't really started using it a lot yet they're still in excel and sequel and it's
00:06:39pretty simple that's most jobs uh so ai in my opinion though is going to be something that grows and
00:06:47and
00:06:47more people utilize and it's going to be embedded in new softwares that new companies get and um it's
00:06:52going to be a big value add to a lot of companies so yes i think you should you you
00:06:58know use ai
00:06:59but uh in my experience it's best to know the basics first and then start using ai because when
00:07:07you start using ai you start putting everything together and you don't know what's happening at
00:07:11all things start to break and then you spend more time getting it to work than you would have just
00:07:16learning it in the first place um so yes definitely learn how to use ai use chatgbt gemini claude
00:07:22try them out uh use tools that have them have them integrated um like vs code or github copilot or
00:07:30stuff like that try it out it's very good um this is pratik at 009 hi alex i am starting
00:07:37my data
00:07:38analytics series from your youtube channel but after completing that videos as a fresher one second i got
00:07:42a burp how gross i apologize uh i want to talk a lot it i just i i don't know
00:07:49it just happens i'm
00:07:50sorry um will i or will i not get a job opportunity after that as a data analyst i can't
00:07:55guarantee you
00:07:56anything um taking my i have a free boot camp if you guys are totally new to the channel i
00:08:01have a free
00:08:02boot camp that covers a ton of stuff excel sequel python um i need to add r to it azure
00:08:09aws
00:08:10tableau power bi all for free and it's an amazing resource i wish that was around when i was
00:08:17starting out but um i can't guarantee you a job it's the effort that you put in so to learn
00:08:23the
00:08:24skills but then you have to really learn how to market yourself create a great resume that's in
00:08:27the boot camp as well right but um it also depends on where you live and what access to you
00:08:34know
00:08:34recruiters and and where you're trying to work and there's a lot of different factors so now i can't
00:08:38guarantee it but you're going to be a lot better off with knowing all those skills and trying to
00:08:43get a job than not knowing those skills and trying to get a job i can guarantee that um our
00:08:48foos
00:08:49zaman hi alex views about the job market as i'm not getting any interview calls that's a very uh
00:08:57that's a very long answer but i have done a whole video on that so you can go watch it
00:09:02i
00:09:02don't know the link to it off the top of my head but you can go look it up i
00:09:06have one here's my
00:09:07general thoughts on the job market job market sucks uh it has for probably the past year and a half
00:09:14and um the biggest reason is not ai it's not uh you know it's not the international market or
00:09:25anything it's really uh money it comes down to money and what's happening right now is we're in
00:09:32historically average but in recent history high interest rates and a lot of companies
00:09:37are trying to maximize profits and they're letting people go because people are their biggest source
00:09:44of cost and so when interest rates are really high and they can't take on debt easily makes it really
00:09:49hard for people to hire other people and i'm not there's not a political channel at all but something
00:09:54that trump is trying to do president trump in the united states at least is that he's trying to lower
00:09:59interest rates like a lot of other countries in the world and lower interest rates would lead
00:10:04to more hiring that's just a fact if you go back in historical data i made a whole video on
00:10:09this
00:10:10actually but you can go back and when interest rates are low companies hire a lot of people that's
00:10:14what happened in you know throughout the past 15 years when interest rates are were pretty low
00:10:19people just hired a lot of people and it was easy to get debt and so that's kind of what
00:10:23i think is
00:10:23fueling and not i mean i i say i think but i researched this and looked into a lot of
00:10:28the
00:10:29data behind it and that is a big piece of it um i think that ai just gets thrown around
00:10:34in the news a
00:10:35lot um it definitely has a part of it right it's a small piece but that's mostly like super large
00:10:40tech companies it's not going to be at your mom and pop shop it's not gonna be in small and
00:10:44medium
00:10:44size companies um maybe for certain jobs but not data analysis not not really in the data world is
00:10:50not happening so uh that's that's really the reason my biggest advice is just to try to get make
00:10:56connections go to meetups go to uh and i've had many people reach out saying hey i went to a
00:11:01creator
00:11:02meetup or not creator meetup a data meetup in chicago that was an example of someone who actually
00:11:07did uh chicago new york wherever and they met someone who was like hey i really like you know your
00:11:12vibe your personality we have an opening and they end up getting a job so things like that or reaching
00:11:16out to recruiters i highly recommend um pns ask what all i need to learn to be a proper data
00:11:24analyst
00:11:25now others say we need need machine learning hadoop etc well i definitely don't recommend hadoop
00:11:30hadoop's like uh kind of an older technology it's not it's not gone there are companies that still use
00:11:38it of course but i definitely wouldn't be a learning hadoop uh nor would i specialize in machine
00:11:42learning unless you're really interested in it when i first started uh learning data analysis i'm
00:11:46going to take a sip of water in a second when i started learning data analysis i didn't know what
00:11:51to learn so i learned machine learning and i hardly ever touched it or looked at it or really used
00:11:57it
00:11:57that much in my career um but i would be learning excel sql and a bi tool to start right
00:12:03you need those
00:12:04those are the fundamentals companies use all sorts of tools they use all sorts of um small tools that
00:12:12you've never heard of and you'll never use it any other company all the way up to big tools like
00:12:16azure and aws that you know and you've used in excel um and so what i mean by that is
00:12:22you want to
00:12:22kind of generalize some of your learning at the beginning you want to just learn the tools that
00:12:27everybody uses like on my the boot camp but i would also recommend that you specialize in some
00:12:33type of domain if possible not everybody can do that but if you can specialize in something like
00:12:37health care or finance or whatever you're like really interested in if you have a deep understanding
00:12:43and knowledge of that your domain experience is very valuable and so that's what i would also learn
00:12:50uh carmen's life hey carmen i'm guessing your name is carmen hello any advice for someone with
00:12:56health information management experience trying to get into health data analysts or health
00:13:00informatics role what would be the best sql or tableau course to take all right carmen um i came
00:13:05from a similar background uh i used to work in hospitals kind of similar i was in the therapy side
00:13:11so i was
00:13:11doing uh recreational therapy that's my degree is in um but i used that health care experience to get
00:13:18into a health care analytics company it was very small under 50 people so here's what i recommend
00:13:23um and there's i guess there is only one question i'm going to give you more information that you're
00:13:29asking for one in terms of courses and this is purely uh this is your i don't some people like
00:13:38this some
00:13:39people don't i have my own courses uh on sql and tableau and everything on analystbuilder.com
00:13:45go take those courses i'm only saying that because i think they're the best ones out there if i thought
00:13:50other people were making better courses um then i would be recommending that uh so i have a link in
00:13:56the description if you want to have a free month a whole month free if you're a new member or
00:14:00if
00:14:01you're a member you can get 35 off uh on my courses those are the best ones uh out there
00:14:06there's some
00:14:06other good ones on coursera and udemy and i've talked about those in other stuff but i'm going to
00:14:10give you more information when you have previous experience in health care which it sounds like you do
00:14:15i highly recommend targeting companies that are going to highlight your skills and what i mean by
00:14:22this is is when i was first starting out i was applying to anything like any job that had data
00:14:28in it uh and that i applied to thousands of jobs it's horrible then i started reaching out to
00:14:34companies that like i started working with recruiters biggest thing i ever did for my career
00:14:38but they were targeting companies for me and helping me target companies that were in health
00:14:43care and so then i got to use my experience and when i got in there i could talk about
00:14:47cbt codes and
00:14:48icd codes and you probably know about these things if you work in health information management you
00:14:53probably know about those like these these diagnoses codes and all these things those are the things
00:14:58where you're going to shine and your resume is really going to stand out and so there are companies
00:15:01like um not mckinsey oh gosh uh well my previous uh employer was uh america's bergen now consera
00:15:11there are ones like cardinal health these are big companies but these are examples then there's
00:15:17insurance companies blue hot blue cross blue shield um etna all these insurance companies they hire a lot
00:15:22of health care background people um i could go on for a long time i made a whole video on
00:15:27health care
00:15:27analytics a whole series on health care and uh analytics by the way what's your take on fabric
00:15:32um i've used fabric by the way this is from sgc freelance what is your take on fabric fabric is
00:15:40okay you have to take a step back fabric isn't for everybody uh it depends on the company depends on
00:15:46the size uh depends on a lot of different factors it is it makes if your company just needs a
00:15:55simple
00:15:55tool to kind of do several things all in one it can be a good tool um i have used
00:16:00fabric in a previous
00:16:01job i thought it was really good for what we needed was it a little expensive yes well my company
00:16:07didn't
00:16:07care about that um because we had a really large budget and so it isn't for everybody it isn't for
00:16:14your mom and pop shop you wouldn't need it it's overkill um but medium-sized companies or medium-sized
00:16:20teams within a company that wants to utilize fabric could be great so uh if you want to learn it
00:16:25learn
00:16:25it if not it's not a huge you're not gonna you're not gonna lose it yes cyber security he said
00:16:31matthew
00:16:32are you here reporting for duty we'll see if matthew comes if he doesn't i'm not upset by it i
00:16:36really am
00:16:36not um let's keep going i'm just answering questions where to start on data governance journey uh i've worked
00:16:45with people who work as like the data governance person i don't know where to start it on your
00:16:49journey um that's not really my expertise i know what they do and i've worked with them but i don't
00:16:55know how to start that journey if i'm being honest um let's see oh see it skipped down i hate
00:17:02when it
00:17:02youtube comments does this and i do not like it uh it skips down so i just skipped like a
00:17:07bunch i'm going
00:17:07back up don't you worry um let's see uh-oh somebody's spamming in here let me uh
00:17:18gotta gotta ban them it's unfortunate i don't want to do that i don't like doing it
00:17:25um i'm filtering through questions really quick any career advice for economics students uh i really
00:17:33honestly honestly looking back i wish i would have majored in economics uh like my present day self
00:17:39i love economics i absolutely love it so if i was going back and i was an economics student um
00:17:44learning about data is like crucial uh in when you're taking economics classes you're going to
00:17:50learn a lot about data and you're going to learn a lot about statistics and these are all fantastic
00:17:54things so learn those fundamental statistical concepts and then learn the tools or you'll learn
00:18:00the tools as you go along um but you know you don't have to learn all the tools right away
00:18:05economics is a lot of statistics and and um i think those basics are pretty important so my advice would
00:18:13be learn a lot of the basics statistics learn some of the tools um you'll probably learn maybe r
00:18:20sequel some other you know smaller unique tool i've never heard of uh but then you know find
00:18:28companies that really like economics that are really good at economics economics is good for like
00:18:32uh uh anything in the stock market a lot of companies need economists a lot of big companies
00:18:38i don't know i i really like that major i wish i would have done something like that
00:18:42uh but then i would have my health care experience right which kind of helped me a lot
00:18:48um spider motors hi sir can you please tell me your power bi in three hours video is enough for
00:18:53the job
00:18:53uh if your team uses power bi or you're trying to get a job with somebody using power bi that
00:19:00is
00:19:00definitely enough to get started i have a full power bi course which goes a lot more in depth uh
00:19:05into like the data modeling and a lot more advanced stuff which probably would be even better but if
00:19:11you're just getting started you don't need it for a job right now that's perfect that's all you need
00:19:14um let's see
00:19:22lots of questions i'm just filtering through there's so many how do you master sequel as a
00:19:26beginner this is mangesi mbata how do you master sequel as a beginner i still don't think i've mastered
00:19:32sequel um i've been using sequel for eight years i've used it at i think a really high level um
00:19:40and i don't think i've mastered it yet i don't think anyone there's very few people i would say
00:19:45has mastered sequel i've worked a lot of really smart amazing data engineers and database developers
00:19:50and they would say they haven't mastered either it's really it's tough um but to get really good at it
00:19:56you can do it in a lot of different ways but one of the easiest ways and completely free ways
00:20:02is just you download something like mysql server mysql and then get in some data that's that's
00:20:08really tough to work with and then try to figure things out try to query the data try to create
00:20:15um queries and store procedures that that clean the data create triggers that when new data is added
00:20:20something happens or or you know it cleans the data and uploads it to another table these are some
00:20:25of the more advanced things that will get you to feeling more mastered um when i started learning
00:20:30that kind of stuff i was like dang sequel is like unlimited you can do anything with it you can
00:20:35do
00:20:35so many things with it but it does have a very high skill cap so i don't think you can
00:20:39really
00:20:40master it but that's what i would do um of course you i have like sequel tutorials and stuff and
00:20:45projects you can follow that'll help get you started i do recommend that um let's see mr ramiz this is
00:20:53another he's asking great questions uh should i start in freelancing because of not getting a job
00:20:59um and also use my mind and with ai now i don't know what that last part means but a
00:21:04lot of people
00:21:05ask that uh if i can't get a job what should i be doing um when i couldn't get a
00:21:11job and i couldn't
00:21:11for a long time i was just offering my services to people to get any experience i could i was
00:21:18reaching
00:21:18out to non-profits um and i finally i actually found one online that had a website because i was
00:21:23i was
00:21:24trying to just help them out because i liked their non-profit but then i saw on their on their
00:21:28website
00:21:28they had some really horribly displayed data and i was like oh i should reach out to them and see
00:21:32if
00:21:33they'd let me fix that or help them visualize that better to show people what the impact that they're
00:21:37having and so i did that for free put that on my resume and i think that was really helpful
00:21:41and so
00:21:42you can do things like that freelancing is tough because if you don't know anybody you have no
00:21:47experience and you're trying to get freelancing work you basically have to do it at a very low cost to
00:21:52attract any any person to do it otherwise they want someone who's more experienced so freelancing
00:21:57is tough but if you already have some experience freelancing is a lot easier what uh you definitely
00:22:02can use things like fiverr or um what's the upwork to i think those are like the ones i'm thinking
00:22:08of
00:22:09to get some initial work that's very possible and then you can put that on your resume 100 percent
00:22:14um you could have your mom post a job on fiverr and then you could do that job and you'll
00:22:21have
00:22:22some experience um i'm not saying you should do it i'm just saying you can do it guys all right
00:22:28but um let's go next hurry shop k i don't know if i say that right but i apologize what
00:22:35do you think
00:22:36about sas studio is it a good tool um i i don't mind sas sas when you start getting really
00:22:44complex
00:22:45can be a very tough tool to use but a lot of companies use sas a lot of companies a
00:22:51previous
00:22:51company that i worked for use s um was it my favorite tool in the world no but it's not
00:22:57a bad
00:22:58tool is it something i would go out of my way to actually learn probably not um but sas in
00:23:05and of
00:23:05itself is not a bad tool it's a little just not it's not as advanced as other companies out there
00:23:13but they're they're still innovating they're still doing stuff um melvin cruz asked a similar
00:23:20question i'm just gonna say just highlight because this i think it says it better i've been doing
00:23:24portfolio projects no luck with landing an interview what should i do volunteer or freelance position
00:23:29before i look for an entry-level role yeah do those things one of the biggest things if you're not
00:23:33getting any interviews is you really need to look at your resume though because if your resume is not
00:23:39good and that happens to a lot of people when they're beginning a lot of people um if you don't
00:23:45have a good resume you're going to get filtered out of the systems immediately it's just going to be
00:23:49like meh your resume sucks and they toss it aside and it never gets to a recruiter it never gets
00:23:55to
00:23:55a hiring manager ever so you're just not getting seen and that is a really i don't know i feel
00:24:00like
00:24:00this is too low maybe it's not um you're just not getting seen and that's a very tough thing now
00:24:05um i have videos that have downloadable resources those are kind of older i have a new uh resume
00:24:12template that i recommend you use it's on analispell.com you go to resources you can free it's
00:24:19completely free just go and you download it that template is designed and already kind of created you
00:24:25just have to fill in your information but that is designed to get through those automatic systems so
00:24:29the ats systems it's meant to get through those um and so uh people have very good luck with that
00:24:35and i recommend downloading uh that template um okay the j rajagan rangan some people recommend
00:24:45tableau i personally prefer power bi's user interface which i find more intuitive which one
00:24:50would you suggest and which is more in demand in the job market um a few questions there and i
00:24:58i
00:24:58always say the same thing i personally like power bi better as well i do power bi to me though
00:25:06for a very beginner can be a little bit more tough um and so i do recommend people starting out
00:25:12in
00:25:12tableau because i think the user interface and the drag and drop features and the way to create
00:25:18uh uh visualizations just everything is actually easier but i don't like tableau as much i like power bi
00:25:27better and i've used both in jobs i used to oh give me a sec is my thing still working
00:25:33give me one second i'm gonna make sure my uh camera is still on really quick
00:25:45all right all right the thing just stopped and i always get worried that it's going to um
00:25:52that it is gonna uh turn off but it doesn't it just it tricks me up every time give me
00:25:57a second
00:25:57i'm gonna drink some water um so that's my personal opinion i think usually tableau tableau first thing
00:26:04move on to power bi i just think power bi tends to get people too confused too quickly that's my
00:26:10opinion
00:26:12um and then which is more in demand uh i haven't looked at the data on that in a while
00:26:19if i remember
00:26:20from even like last year as power bi um and tableau not as much it's because power bi is cheaper
00:26:27per
00:26:28user tableau usually needs larger licenses and so power bi because microsoft can do it power bi has
00:26:34gotten kind of a foothold in the market quite a bit so i think it's power bi but go look
00:26:40into that
00:26:41don't don't just trust my last year's remembrance or remembering i don't know what i'm saying let's
00:26:48keep going
00:26:53some interesting questions uh i'm looking for uh excuse me i'm looking for questions i haven't
00:27:02answered yet because some of these i've already done multiple times uh i use adekari does vba required
00:27:09to learn for analysts uh vba is not required uh i do show people how to use it i think
00:27:17in my excel
00:27:18course or not my excel series on youtube maybe no i think i only go to macros but i i
00:27:27know i do in my
00:27:28full excel course uh but no it's not required vba in fact vba is is definitely more of an advanced
00:27:37thing it's like a programming language inside of excel so no you don't need to learn it um but it's
00:27:44you know it's useful to know it's it's kind of more advanced
00:27:49ahmad tarak said hey alex hey how's it going
00:27:55all right um let's see
00:28:01i'm gonna just start muting some people some people are asking the same questions over and over
00:28:07uh okay cyber security said i've been finding it hard to find content around the ask phase of data
00:28:13analysis how do we figure out the right question to ask how do we utilize our critical thinking brain
00:28:18um this is the piece that is probably the most difficult when you're first starting out as a data
00:28:25analyst because you get in there and all most of what you've learned is through like courses and
00:28:32through uh online tutorials or personal questions but when you get into a business into a company
00:28:40how do you ask the right questions um this a lot of this one just comes with experience but also
00:28:46you
00:28:46have to really think about things from a business perspective that's the toughest part that is the
00:28:52thing that most people trip up with when they're starting out as a data analyst i know i did i
00:28:57am not
00:28:57talking about other people i'm not like oh other people this is what they get tripped up on no this
00:29:02is me i got tripped up on this um oh my my camera isn't um
00:29:10focus on my face there you go it gets confused with the uh i don't know why i did the
00:29:16big eyes it
00:29:17gets confused with the uh the thing being here um but i myself when i first started had a really
00:29:23tough time with this i would just someone would tell me what to do and i would just do it
00:29:27i was like a worker bee i get told oh see i'm looking at myself making my big eyes i
00:29:32don't know
00:29:32why i did that but they said hey go do this and i would go and do it i wouldn't
00:29:36ask any questions
00:29:37but as you get more experience you start to you know have to use that that thinking brain that
00:29:41critical brain be like wait why am i building this why do we need this because the client actually
00:29:46need was talking about this in that last meeting and now we're building something different
00:29:49or we're building something that's similar but it's not actually going to help them with the
00:29:53problem that they're having and so a lot of this comes with experience asking a ton of questions
00:29:58clarifying questions um and that's kind of how that works um you can do this pretty easily
00:30:07with things that you know really well for example uh you know when you're logging your
00:30:14food that you're eating and the calories that you're eating you can log that
00:30:17and then you can start asking see why is my camera doing this
00:30:27i don't know why it's doing that maybe it's because i need to go like this
00:30:32i should be a little more like this i think it'll the audio is i don't know if the audio
00:30:36is the same
00:30:37see this is a problem it's just not focusing on my face well thanks canon thanks for nothing
00:30:44i'm just kidding um but you know what questions to ask about those things you can be like oh what
00:30:51food was i eating and then maybe you're tracking let's say you're tracking how you were feeling
00:30:55uh your your mood when you were eating certain things so you can logically go back and be like
00:31:01let's take a look at what food i was eating on the days that i wasn't feeling well or maybe
00:31:05the day
00:31:05before and that's a logical thing to do but you if you don't know anything about your data you would
00:31:13just be like oh this is interesting information what do you want me to do with this but you know
00:31:18the
00:31:18problem you know what you're looking for and so you only kind of experience that in a real job
00:31:23when you start talking to clients talking to other people understanding the data that takes time it
00:31:28does um alicia diston said which domain do you think offers more opportunity for a data analyst
00:31:35healthcare or finance oh i don't know the numbers on this at all um i'm gonna be honest i don't
00:31:42i worked
00:31:42in healthcare myself there's so many data jobs but i know so many people work in finance as well
00:31:47i would guess that healthcare has more but i don't know the numbers on that you gotta look
00:31:52into that that's a that's an internet question not a alex question i'm sorry but um that's just me
00:32:00um okay ahmed tarak i think i answered one of your questions earlier your friendly egyptian
00:32:05pharmacist i would like to ask you what advice for startup courses or training to become a health
00:32:09analyst um i haven't found a a lot of great healthcare analytics resources online which is
00:32:17why i made a whole series on youtube for health care analytics um it may be too rudimentary or
00:32:23simple for you because if you work as a pharmacist you're gonna know a lot of things within the
00:32:28healthcare world i was kind of starting as like a basic one i might do an intermediate or even in
00:32:32a
00:32:32nah i don't know if a good crazy advanced there no one would watch that um there are very few
00:32:36people
00:32:36would watch it but i might do an intermediate one or kind of a more advanced one um but that's
00:32:41where
00:32:41i would start uh in terms of courses i always recommend analystbuilder.com that's my platform i
00:32:47have tons of courses on there by the way this this is just a personal plug if you haven't tried
00:32:53out
00:32:53analystbuilder.com which is my platform for learning data analysis you can try it out for free down below
00:33:00if you've never tried it out use code one month free it's in the description below and you get a
00:33:04free
00:33:04month just try it out you can go take like three or four courses if you if you take them
00:33:09really fast
00:33:09that's three or four courses for free go do it try it out if you don't like it don't use
00:33:14it um but if
00:33:15you are you can get them if you want to pay or if you want uh to you're already a
00:33:19member you get 35
00:33:20off in the code below that's just a personal plug um let me keep going
00:33:29let me keep going
00:33:33uh jinyi chen love the star next to your name that means he is a member of the channel which
00:33:40means he
00:33:40supports me financially thank you i appreciate it he said hi alex i followed your video to build my
00:33:45portfolio and after applying to just a few positions i already got an interview thank you so much oh i
00:33:49didn't
00:33:49read that beforehand congratulations that is amazing to hear that is like i can put everything
00:33:56in front of you but i can't make you do the work i can't lead a horse to water right
00:34:01and make him
00:34:02drink you're you put in the work you did it and i'm proud of you that is amazing that those
00:34:08are like
00:34:08the stories that i love to hear now if you don't get the first job the first interview you have
00:34:12that's
00:34:12okay right you um i failed i think my first like seven eight nine ten interviews before i landed my
00:34:20first job um when i say fail i just mean i wasn't a good fit or i didn't know enough
00:34:26and they were
00:34:26looking for someone more senior and that happens but keep interviewing keep doing what you're doing
00:34:31because it's working so keep going i love it um elham ya how to get domain experience since i can't
00:34:39get
00:34:39a job this is like the classic how do i get it if i don't get it but i need
00:34:46it to get it you know
00:34:48what i mean how do you get domain experience one is you talk to people so reach out to people
00:34:55in a
00:34:55field you're interested in ask for data ask for projects ask for anything you can do to learn that
00:35:02i don't know what field you want to go in but if someone came to me and actually not if
00:35:06someone
00:35:06i've had tons of people come to me in healthcare being like i want to get into healthcare analytics
00:35:10like you did where do i start well one i created a series exactly for that literally shows you the
00:35:17data where to download the data a small little how to describing the data i've done that but if i
00:35:24don't
00:35:24work in finance or tech or you know all these other companies that you may want to get into
00:35:29reach out to someone a lot of times people not all all the time but a lot of times people
00:35:34are
00:35:34willing to talk about it hey tell me about your experience in finance i'm really interested in it
00:35:40um then you get them talking and you ask a follow-up question you say you know what kind of
00:35:45data would
00:35:45you have wanted to learn at the beginning of your career that you know you didn't and that maybe i
00:35:51could look into and they'll say oh you need to look into this kind of data i had no idea
00:35:55how
00:35:56amazing and how popular it is but no one talks about it ask those questions that's what i would
00:36:01do that is what i would do elham if that's how you say your name shashank or shashank databricks
00:36:09is it important to learn for freshers um give me one sec when i get talking um my voice just
00:36:20goes
00:36:21is databricks important to learn not for beginners in my opinion um now do i teach it yes and i've
00:36:31taught a lot of people databricks but do you need it no i don't think i've done a databricks series
00:36:36on
00:36:36youtube yet i think it's in my azure and aws course on analyst builder if you're if you were
00:36:43wondering because i don't think i have it on youtube i'm gonna make one though i i think i'm
00:36:47gonna make one or maybe i did put it on youtube i can't remember some things just blur together
00:36:52i've been doing this for too long oh excuse me but no it's not not required for beginners uh i
00:37:00wouldn't even necessarily recommend it because not enough especially smaller companies medium-sized
00:37:05companies are even going to use databricks um that's just my opinion though
00:37:11now let me see
00:37:17this is an interesting one and i don't know the answer myron sheldon is sustainability
00:37:21and or environmental sector considered a domain i'm not sure i i know there are environmental companies
00:37:30like there's a ton of them i don't know if there's specifically if that's considered a
00:37:36domain or not i don't know but there are jobs in sustainability and environmental impact within
00:37:42lots of companies um so maybe a subset oh boy my camera's doing this thing again uh
00:37:50that may be a subset of data yeah my mom just texted me hey mom my mom just texted me
00:37:58your camera keeps
00:37:59going blurry i i'm having technical difficulties mom it's true yeah my autofocus is wonky
00:38:08you know my mom usually watches my live stream i think it's funny uh because it's just i i don't
00:38:18know i just think it's funny um anyways thanks for watching mom i appreciate it uh it does keep going
00:38:24wonky um all right but i i those are definitely jobs and i've i have seen those jobs within like
00:38:32companies i've worked for but i've never interacted with them i don't really know exactly what they do
00:38:38um let's see jem aranis this is kind of more advanced question hi alex i'm a third year bs
00:38:43statistics uh that's a bachelor's statistics since i have experience in anova regression etc how should
00:38:49i proceed as a data scientist courses or start on as a data analyst what do you think um yeah
00:38:54anova
00:38:55and regression are both really popular within uh i'm sorry my mom's texting me within machine learning
00:39:01and oh my mom said i love you i love you too bob uh thanks for watching thanks for making
00:39:07the stream
00:39:07she always makes into the stream somehow um but uh those are very popular i think that if you have
00:39:14an
00:39:15interest in being more of a data scientist then you know i would lean into that build projects learn
00:39:22more about those things you could definitely those are kind of the beginner blocks of learning uh
00:39:28becoming a data scientist very very uh popular and common you could also go into data analysis but
00:39:36you aren't going to be using a ton of anova you are going to be using regression or a linear
00:39:41regression
00:39:42or yeah it's getting blurry again i'm seeing oh see now i now i probably messed it up anyways um
00:39:53that i don't know i don't know i can't answer that for you those are just kind of things within
00:39:57data science that you could learn but um with a bachelor's in statistics you can go either way
00:40:02it just depends on what you are interested in what you like that's just my opinion
00:40:07taha nafal when i should be a content creator i currently feel i need to learn and gain more
00:40:13experience by the same time i have feeling to teach i am not gonna stop you from teaching i think
00:40:18that's how you learn in fact a lot of people who uh are youtubers now back in the day this
00:40:25is many
00:40:25years ago but two or three years ago they were beginners too and they started posting here's my
00:40:30journey to becoming a data analyst it doesn't necessarily have to be hey i don't know anything
00:40:35let me teach you it could be hey i'm learning this and i wanted to show you something cool that
00:40:39i learned
00:40:40and just post it um and so a lot of the i met several content creators within the data space
00:40:46who started after i did and said hey i watched your videos you talked about how you started out and
00:40:52didn't know much when you were first making content you're just kind of learning as you go
00:40:55and i started doing that now they have like 50 000 75 100 000 followers or subscribers i'm like
00:41:00that's amazing so don't be shy um try it out see what happens share it online uh send me a
00:41:07message
00:41:07on linkedin when you do and i'd love to take a look at it i'll go and comment on it
00:41:10um but just go
00:41:12for it just go for it uh let's see carmen's life omg thanks so much great info happy to help
00:41:19let's see
00:41:25oh it skipped down i was reading a question
00:41:30hopefully it wasn't your question rejoice george hi alex what should we be expecting in your upcoming
00:41:37github tutorial series all right so i made an announcement on linkedin and twitter and i think
00:41:44youtube as well excuse me one sec uh yeah okay there's several people asking about the github course
00:41:49it's a git and github course two separate tools often using conjunction together um that course on
00:41:57analyst builder is going to be released probably next week that's on my editor i only have one editor
00:42:02who edits my analyst builder stuff because i want that to look really professional
00:42:05my youtube stuff i edit so you know it is what it is in that getting github course it'll be
00:42:11a lot
00:42:11of similar things that i'll put in youtube as well after the r series is done which has like
00:42:15maybe two more months then i'll start releasing my git and github series on youtube in those courses
00:42:24or sorry in those lessons what a lot of it will focus on is the basics of git so how
00:42:31to you know
00:42:32initialize a repository on your computer how to um you know push code into staging or i guess add
00:42:40code into staging uh and then uh commit code how to push it how to pull it from uh github
00:42:47um it's
00:42:51the the series on youtube is going to be a lot of the fundamentals of how to use everything
00:42:56the git and github course which will be released like next week is going to go a little bit more
00:43:00in
00:43:00depth um and there's you know more advanced things like what happens when you are trying to merge
00:43:06something and you you have some type of conflict how do you resolve that how do you even identify
00:43:10that um how to do pull requests and all these different things and so that's what a lot of the
00:43:15course is going to be on but um it's going to cover a lot of similar things on youtube excuse
00:43:21me
00:43:21but it won't be released until uh maybe september because i'm in our series right now so it's just
00:43:29a little bit behind um but it's going to be great i love git and github they're both awesome so
00:43:35highly
00:43:35recommend learning those uh you don't have to know it as a beginner but when you get into a job
00:43:41especially at larger companies they use version control software getting github are going to be used
00:43:45like most of the time let's see uh keshibam mishra suggest me the best way to practice sequel
00:43:56i talked about one way uh which is getting a database putting data into it and then messing
00:44:01around with it another really good way when you're first learning sequel is to use some type of sequel
00:44:07editor online which is what i what me and my team at analyst builder built go into the questions page
00:44:13um we have questions i know i talk about analyst builders just such a great resource um but we
00:44:19built it and you can practice sequel you there's free questions you don't even have to pay for it
00:44:23just go and practice um and you learn how to think about these solutions and these problems and these
00:44:30are things that you'll get asked in interviews and these are things that you'll use in your actual job
00:44:34so i recommend getting a database loading data in it try to answer questions try to clean data try to
00:44:40transform that data and then also practicing on platforms like that now there are other platforms
00:44:45that you can use uh but i think analyst builder is the best so i would just recommend it and
00:44:50it's for
00:44:50and you it's that part's free you don't even have to pay for that
00:44:59gem aranis again people are asking this i'm going to answer it someone says that you're
00:45:03you i have a free youtube data analyst series is the same with your paid data analyst builder is
00:45:09there a difference yes there is a difference um my stuff on uh so i have a free boot camp
00:45:17if anyone
00:45:17doesn't know completely free data analyst boot camp on youtube it's like 25 24 hours long it's really
00:45:23long has some amazing content i highly recommend taking that analyst builder goes more in depth has
00:45:29more advanced projects you have practice problems along the way and uh everything is a lot more polished
00:45:36more easy to follow a lot of my youtube content is older three four years ago um and so a
00:45:42lot has
00:45:43not changed but a lot is uh i've gotten better at teaching in those years and so analyst builders
00:45:49just everything's better on there but of course it's paid right um and so it is better but you don't
00:45:55have to do it uh that is just for people who want to go take the next step and be
00:46:00like okay i took the
00:46:01free stuff i've learned a lot but i want to kind of invest more and they're willing to invest a
00:46:06little
00:46:06money that's kind of the best platform for that next step is kind of what i would say so don't
00:46:11start
00:46:11with it if you don't want to um you know test it out see if data analyst is something you
00:46:16really like
00:46:17you can do that for free with the boot camp i recommend it
00:46:25mike obelisa hi alex how do you change from other data type to date in sql server the method seems
00:46:32to
00:46:32be different compared to my sql uh yeah every every flavor of sql has a different way especially with
00:46:40dates because dates are so tough to work with um every everything has a different flavor i don't
00:46:46remember off the top of my head uh i can't remember i could google it but you can google it
00:46:52why are you asking me i don't know at least off the top of my head i don't know i
00:46:57probably used to
00:46:59um but once i get in there i would just google it and be like oh how do i convert
00:47:02this date
00:47:03the or this maybe it's a time stamp or it's something else or it's a numeric that you should
00:47:08have converted into a date in the csv or excel before you imported it you got to figure out that
00:47:14process yourself i don't know what you're working with there but i google it um let's see github
00:47:21course github course yeah i already answered that um
00:47:29someone's asking about business analytics uh going through your data analyst youtube course was
00:47:35thinking of going into business analytics um come on come on camera let's see
00:47:43this camera man i gotta get a new one i gotta get a better one maybe maybe one of those
00:47:49mirrorless
00:47:49ones i got a i got a dslr which isn't the best for streaming it's just what i use that's
00:47:56just what
00:47:56i use so i don't know what it is um business analytics is still a very popular thing it's less
00:48:02technical it's more people focused it's still very uh people hire for it all the time what a business
00:48:09analyst is a little bit of the difference between a data analyst and business analyst a business
00:48:13analyst is going to focus more on working with the clients directly trans kind of translating hey
00:48:20here's what they're asking for and here's what we need and translating that to the team and that is
00:48:25definitely a skill to have that is more of a people uh focused job you're not gonna be doing as
00:48:32much um as much technical stuff you'll be using excel maybe some sequel you won't be shouldn't be
00:48:38creating visualizations uh it's not really a business analyst role um but yeah i uh i think business
00:48:47analyst is still a good job
00:48:52cyber security mama alex in the building that's right she's here she's listening so behave
00:48:59let's see um
00:49:07who just who did this you didn't have to hey someone donated durav j 2005 thank you i really do
00:49:16appreciate you don't have to do that i'll answer questions for free but since you did donate i will
00:49:20answer your question or let's look at it man i'm a college student can i find freelance work after
00:49:25learning data analysis i almost finished sequel um you guys know like the sequel series yes you can
00:49:31look into um i just hearted that by the way thank you um you can look into freelancing i talked
00:49:36about
00:49:37freelancing earlier if you weren't here for that that's okay i'll mention it again but freelancing
00:49:41is kind of tough because you have to find your own clients now if you go on places like fiverr
00:49:46or upwork
00:49:48you can put your portfolio out there and see if somebody messages you or you can put in bids for
00:49:53things as well um but usually you have to start with really low prices or even doing it for free
00:49:58perhaps um and that's okay but um it's tough to get it's tough to get people if you don't have
00:50:05any
00:50:05experience so um oh my camera my camera is doing all sorts of things today just ignore just ignore it
00:50:14um but i would recommend uh looking if you're in college usually colleges have some type of program
00:50:20to help you get internships or help you get introduced to jobs go to that career center
00:50:25utilize their resources because once you're out of college sometimes they won't use those resources
00:50:30anymore um so definitely do that the other thing is if you want to do freelancing create some projects
00:50:36uh i joked earlier but you could do this uh you can have your mom create a project and then
00:50:44you do it
00:50:45and you have something on your fiverr account don't do that a lot cost money but you can do that
00:50:49if you
00:50:50want to it's up to you um all right i'm gonna keep going
00:50:56some interesting questions okay they i just answered this one someone said any advice for
00:51:03bachelor student seeking their first internship career center utilize the resources at your
00:51:08college that is probably your best you don't have you don't haven't done much networking most
00:51:12likely you probably don't know a lot of people in the world uh or in the business world who could
00:51:16get you those internships so i do recommend uh that you look into that that would be my number
00:51:23one step oh oh hike oh with jaca i butchered that name i like the name it's a cool name
00:51:35if i want
00:51:36to make a portfolio what should i put into my project to make it unique and interesting for
00:51:40companies that are looking for data analysts all right so this is a great question because
00:51:45oftentimes you're first starting out you don't know what to build and you've taken my youtube stuff
00:51:49and you've built my projects but a lot of people out there have those projects
00:51:53projects and that's true you're not wrong um what i would do is find something you're interested
00:52:00in find maybe it's like you're really interested in health care and i talk about health care because
00:52:05i was in health care for a long time oh boy it's my mom says it's focusing on my guitar
00:52:12you might be right your mom might be stinking right yeah it's focusing on my background oddly
00:52:18enough maybe i need to get closer i don't know sorry give me a second i'm going to answer that
00:52:24question but my mom might be my mom might be onto something i thought it was focusing on this but
00:52:30it
00:52:30wasn't it's focused on my background that just blew my mind um sorry i keep getting to mom stop texting
00:52:37me you're distracting me i got people to questions to answer um what i would say is find something you're
00:52:43interested in i was really interested in health care so i used to build projects around health care
00:52:48and then when people would see my portfolio or they'd see my resume because i put my projects on
00:52:53my resume is they would see that hey this guy has some experience or knowledge of health care
00:52:58which this other person didn't know they were just building projects on
00:53:02random stuff that didn't make any sense
00:53:07and so um once you find a niche that you really like hone in on that build projects around that
00:53:12ask people what kind of projects would be good in this area find people on linkedin i'm serious
00:53:18don't be shy ask you may have to may take you a while to find someone who's going to answer
00:53:23you but
00:53:23ask and do that i think that's a great idea
00:53:30let's see
00:53:42um as real first of his name sweet youtube name any recommendations for finding and or
00:53:49etl projects similar to azure ssis or apache yes build them i recommend
00:53:58it's not not i'm not i'm not you know what i'm not even gonna worry about it i would recommend
00:54:07that you build that project you don't wait right you don't need to wait for somebody to a guided
00:54:13project although you can do it think of something that you think would be interesting um you're looking
00:54:19at etl tools etl is um it's an entire thing right you can find tutorials on it but you can
00:54:26also
00:54:26think how what would i want to do what would a business do a business needs to get data from
00:54:31point a to point b i build ton i built ton of etl pipelines and done a lot of things
00:54:38in that area
00:54:38and what i learned is that you just need to get going so for example i'll just set you up
00:54:43a really
00:54:43simple etl process that you can go and try right now and this would be within you i've used ssis
00:54:51i've used aws i've used azure i've used a ton of other tools whatever you want to do but put
00:54:57data
00:54:57in a database say it's sql server put data in there and what you're going to do is you're going
00:55:04to it needs to be messy data you're going to put data in there you're going to extract that data
00:55:08or or or move that data into let's say uh i think you said azure or ssis you're going to
00:55:16put into
00:55:16another database but you're also going to transform it at the same time transforming and moving data to
00:55:22another place step number one easiest pipeline ever but you got to learn how to the basics then you take
00:55:28it up a notch then you're not just cleaning the data up a little bit now you're actually changing
00:55:33the data to where you're um you know maybe you're pivoting the data or you're putting it into a view
00:55:40that's then uh being picked up by a production uh some production systems you have to put it in a
00:55:45view
00:55:45right so you start adding on layers uh and that's how you build it you don't need uh you may
00:55:51need a
00:55:51tutorial but you don't need anything other than to go out and try it and to start building subham
00:55:57guy guyakwad you got a new subscriber smiley face you got a new friend uh because we are now friends
00:56:04for
00:56:04life you weren't expecting that were you that's true hit me up hit me up we'll go out for uh
00:56:15some
00:56:15coffee sometime all right let me look for more questions will ai replace data analytics uh i see
00:56:23this in a lot of places and i think it's a great question uh i've thought about it and looked
00:56:27into it
00:56:27a lot myself i think at some level there are going to be things within the data analyst
00:56:34world that is going to be automated um and there's no doubt about that ai is automating so many things
00:56:40um even basic code boilerplate code for many things is being replaced um just by ai being able to get
00:56:48it
00:56:49really fast but data analysts are not going away in fact i think and this is my personal opinion and
00:56:56kind of the opinion of uh other people i've talked to uh out in the world and let me i
00:57:04didn't think of
00:57:04how to say that clearly i know a lot of other directors startups other companies that um hire data
00:57:12analysts and a lot of what they are saying is is yeah we use ai but we have so much
00:57:18data and we it's so
00:57:21complex that we need someone to come in and we need someone to look at this and understand it better
00:57:26and use ai with these systems and so a lot of these companies that um you know are growing are
00:57:33small and
00:57:34medium-sized companies they need data analysts they're not going away they aren't they it's just a
00:57:40you ai can do a lot it just can't do everything at least not right now uh maybe in the
00:57:46future
00:57:47but no i don't think it's going to be automated a hundred percent um i think that there are small
00:57:52pieces of what data analysts do but remember data analysts have to do a lot of communication
00:57:57with in the team they need to do a lot of communication with the clients and the customers
00:58:01and the stakeholders um that part hasn't really changed and hasn't really been automated almost in
00:58:08any way so no in my opinion i don't think ai is going to take it away i think there's
00:58:14a very big
00:58:15opportunity i think the recent job issues is more economic related access to debt and high interest
00:58:22rates related and companies trying to maximize profit in these times i think that is a lot more
00:58:29what's going on with the the demand i don't think it's as much ai um let's see
00:58:39uh john snow got my first contracting gig today and i start next week any advice on how to manage
00:58:44that relationship they have possible for extension but aren't really aware what they want that's a
00:58:50great question i actually worked a contract to hire position when i was going into a fortune uh that
00:58:55fortune 500 company called mercer's bergen now cancera contracting is great um full-time is usually
00:59:01better for most people but but contracting is a fantastic place to start i just made i hate to say
00:59:08this uh i just made a tiktok about this i'm going to release that i think tomorrow um but i'll
00:59:16tell
00:59:16you the same thing i said when you're getting into a role you the first thing that you should be
00:59:20doing
00:59:21is one you have to get access to everything and companies are horrible at this their onboarding
00:59:25systems typically are terrible so you're going to need to get in and start talking to your teammates
00:59:30and be like hey what tools are you guys using they just gave me access to one two three and
00:59:34they're
00:59:34going to be like oh but do you have access to four five and six and you're like no i
00:59:37don't and they're
00:59:38like you need to get access you need to start requesting that because it's going to take 20 30
00:59:41days to get access to everything it's terrible i know um that's just the realities of life so get
00:59:47access to all the tools you need ask around what tools do people use then start asking other people
00:59:52start looking at projects hey who are your clients what kind of projects are you working on and then go
00:59:57and find that data and start asking questions within your first 30 days most people have low
01:00:03expectations they're not going to expect that most people can hit the ground running they're going
01:00:06to want you to learn really fast and then hit the ground running right or i mean it's not hit
01:00:12the
01:00:12ground running but you know they want you to learn really fast you can start taking on projects
01:00:15so do that as quickly as possible and you'll be very useful to them and they will like you for
01:00:20that
01:00:20so that's what i would recommend
01:00:25a lot of questions i've answered already listen if you answer if you ask a question and i'm skipping it
01:00:29which
01:00:29maybe you don't know but i may have answered that previously by the way we have about maybe five
01:00:34ten more minutes i'm gonna sign off for today i'm doing this every week i don't know if i uh
01:00:38you may
01:00:38not have been here at the very beginning but i'm gonna be doing this every single week uh for the
01:00:43next
01:00:43several months just to answer questions because people have been requesting that i do that can you
01:00:49share real data sets with us so that we can use uh use them yes i have done that uh
01:00:54you can either
01:00:55find my youtube videos where i have tons of data sets linked in those videos you can go on the
01:01:01resources page of analystbuilder.com where i have links to really great places to find data sets
01:01:07um that's what i would do that is exactly what i would do let's see i've got a few more
01:01:12questions let's
01:01:13see i've answered that one
01:01:21let's see let's see sorry i get this angry face but i'm just focused i don't know why
01:01:37uh i'm skipping down to the bottom because a lot of these questions uh have already been answered
01:01:42i've already answered will offshoring to cheaper countries affect the job prospects for u.s data
01:01:48analysts all right so this has been something that's always been relevant um let me focus real
01:01:57quick perfect um this is something that's always been around uh this is not new this has been around
01:02:03for 20 20 some years um but of course offshoring is always cheaper but here's what i will say
01:02:09when i was a manager we hired through a company called accenture this was a third uh this is a
01:02:16hiring uh company that would hire for us i always had issues with our third party hires um and they
01:02:24just weren't committed to they weren't full-time it was in my opinion after about a year i was like
01:02:31guys i just want to hire on someone full-time with you know within the country because our third
01:02:38buyer hires were not doing a good enough job every single company out there who hires third party from
01:02:44cheaper areas gets the same thing it is cheaper but it costs in the long run not always sometimes you
01:02:50get a really good employee um but that's the realities of business i i i've seen it i've lived
01:02:57it i've heard it a thousand times companies always try to do that but nine times out of ten it
01:03:04doesn't
01:03:04work and they end up hiring local because even though they're paying more money they're getting a much
01:03:07better return on their investment almost always so that's my uh opinion uh talk talky 616 thank you for
01:03:16the donation you didn't have to do that you didn't even ask a question where's the come on man you
01:03:21have my you made a donation i see it i was expecting a question um talky 616 i appreciate it
01:03:28thank you you
01:03:28didn't have to do that you really didn't um let's see yes there i don't i can't say the the
01:03:36name of
01:03:36this person but there are government data sets which are usually publicly accessible data.gov is like
01:03:41my go-to place for data sets i love data.gov uh data.gov has publicly available data sets in
01:03:47the
01:03:47united states at least for every state for every for uh federal as well as uh local government
01:03:55agencies and they give you the raw data because they're mandated to give that raw data and you can
01:04:01use it it's awesome and i've used those for a lot of projects on my youtube channel as well as
01:04:05projects on analyst builder because they're that good they're just great um xyz what you didn't
01:04:12have to donate i appreciate it but you didn't have to that's really kind of you thank you i appreciate
01:04:16it um let's uh let's do about three or four more questions i'm going to sign off for today
01:04:26and then we'll be good to go i'm going to do this next week i'm going to do it the
01:04:31week after
01:04:34bam uh calvin tam hey alex just want to say thanks for your video you are welcome thanks for
01:04:41joining i really appreciate it let's see um coda you just asked about freelancing go back in my video
01:04:50in this video and i talked about freelancing many times maybe three or four times so i'm not going to
01:04:55answer it again because some people are here the whole time um but go check it out because i talk
01:05:00about freelancing quite a bit um adonis great name bustomi hi alex i've been performing data
01:05:08cleaning standardization and analysis using sql is python truly essential for a data analyst if it is
01:05:13which python skills are the most important to focus on no uh you don't need python you don't it's not
01:05:20a
01:05:20need uh for most hires or companies it's not a need but it is pretty awesome to learn um i'll
01:05:28give
01:05:28an example i was working i got i i love this example but it's not nobody you may not be
01:05:36able
01:05:36to replicate it but it was really neat i was working as uh that contract to hire position
01:05:43and we had this this process that we were just doing over and over again and we couldn't automate
01:05:49it really in sql that well and so i was like hey boss i think i could automate this in
01:05:57python but we
01:05:58don't use python on our team would you be okay if i use that if i like get access to
01:06:03it and use it and
01:06:03try it out and she was like yeah go for it and i was like great i spent on company
01:06:09time and a little
01:06:09bit my own time maybe six seven hours and i automated the whole thing which took us many hours
01:06:15hours per week to do and i automated it and other teams started using it because they had similar
01:06:23processes and other teams started adapting it i started sharing it and a lot of people started
01:06:27using it they all loved it it wasn't crazy hard looking back it was like you know a little beyond
01:06:32the basics but it wasn't like anything insane and that's what python can do and so you can kind of
01:06:38use that to impress people um as well as get things done faster uh so you don't it's not a
01:06:43need
01:06:44python for most jobs is not a need but it can be very valuable once you get into a job
01:06:49so i do
01:06:49recommend learning it it's just not a need um all right two more questions then i'm out of here
01:07:01my back's starting to hurt my back's hurting i haven't leaned this is me leaning back it's just too
01:07:08far back so i kind of am leaning forward a little bit anyways you didn't you don't care about that
01:07:16um oh my lanta somebody just said no giveaway today i totally forgot about that all right uh
01:07:25it's giveaway time it is giveaway time all right i forgot about that i do this every live stream just
01:07:34to give back it's free of charge doesn't cost you a dime i just like giving things away as you
01:07:41i'm sure know um if you go on to analystbuilder.com and you go to uh uh let me just
01:07:50make sure i'm doing
01:07:51this right analystbuilder.com and you go to pricing go to and not everyone's going to win this i'm just
01:07:59going to warn you go to the courses i'm about to give away some free courses all you have to
01:08:04do is be
01:08:04the first one to type in the code into um into the thing and then buy it now it has
