00:00Bersatu has effectively removed itself from Perikatan National after announcing plans to form a new political coalition, says past President
00:09Tanshri Abdul Hadi Awang.
00:11Abdul Hadi said Perikatan National's constitution clearly states that any party joining another coalition automatically ceases to be a member
00:21of the alliance.
00:21He said Bersatu had already declared its intention to establish a new coalition, meaning it had effectively left Perikatan without
00:31the need for any formal announcement.
00:34The remarks came after Bersatu President Tanshri Muhyiddin Yassin announced on July 17th that a new political coalition would be
00:42formed following the Negeri Sembilan state election.
00:46Muhyiddin said Bersatu would not stand alone after the August 1st polls, and revealed that discussions were underway to build
00:54what he described as a
00:56formidable alliance within a year in preparation for the next general election.
01:01He also disclosed that Urimai Chairman Professor P. Ramasamy had expressed his readiness to discuss the framework for the proposed
01:09cooperation.
01:11Asked whether Perikatan National would issue an official statement confirming Bersatu's exit, Abdul Hadi said it was unnecessary, stressing that
01:21under the coalition's constitution, a party's membership ends automatically once it joins another alliance.
