00:20university students face serious difficulties once again.
00:25during the subject selection process for the corresponding semester of 2026.
00:30Since July 13, the date the selection process began,
00:35Thousands of students have been unable to successfully complete their registration.
00:40This situation has created a climate of uncertainty and concern in the student community.
00:46Even those who have managed to access the system have found, in many cases,
00:51with only one or two subjects available, making it impossible to complete their academic workload,
00:57to progress normally in their study plans and, consequently, complete their degrees within the expected time.
01:05The problem has worsened since August 3rd.
01:09with the start of the proposed extension for the inclusion of subjects.
01:13However, far from presenting an effective solution,
01:18This process has developed without sufficient opening of new groups or new selections,
01:24leaving thousands of students in the same situation
01:26and deepening the concern into unease and indignation of the student community.
01:32The most worrying thing is that university authorities are fully aware of this reality.
01:39In a meeting held between the Dominican Student Federation and Rector Jorge Azán,
01:46with the participation also of the national president of the FE and most of the presidents of the centers
01:51university students,
01:53They were clearly and directly exposed to the difficulties that students face.
01:58during the subject selection process.
02:00However, to date, sufficiently effective measures have been taken to overcome this crisis.
02:07That is a widespread situation throughout the university.
02:12You know that we started with a process that was already underway,
02:17So what we've been doing is looking for alternatives to resolve it with an extension.
02:26What we have been told by the Vice-Rector's Office for Academic Affairs is that an extension will be granted for the
02:32registration
02:33and they will be channeled through schools and through the various of the different
02:43areas
02:43in which we have that problem to give an immediate answer.
02:48You know that the venue does not have a plan.
02:53We don't handle the planning.
02:55They are managed from the schools and from the Vice-Rectorate for Teaching
03:01and therefore we have to accept everything they can do
03:07and then we can use that information to provide it to our students.
