00:00After coming home from Maine for a wedding weekend, we quickly realize that my daughter McKinley, who will soon be
00:07three years old, we do not have her papa.
00:11Her papa is her stuffed animal, sleeps with every single night.
00:16It is her other appendage.
00:20I mean, she is just obsessed.
00:21Yeah.
00:21And if you remember back to your childhood, you probably had something, a pillow, a blanket, a stuffed animal, whatever
00:26it might be, your safety net.
00:28Right. Well, we spent one night in Connecticut on our way back down and we realized we didn't have papa,
00:36that he was at the Airbnb or somewhere.
00:40Just not with you guys.
00:41Not with us.
00:42Yeah.
00:42Now, she was at a hotel, so she got distracted enough, fell asleep.
00:46We turned on a movie, which we never do, in order to make her fall asleep.
00:49And she did.
00:50We get home and, oh my gosh, she realizes.
00:53We have a backup friend.
00:58Immediately, she goes, well, that's not papa.
01:00Yeah.
01:01The smell, the wear of it.
01:03Yeah.
01:03He's this, that, and the other.
01:05He's too big.
01:05He's a little bit bigger than the other one.
01:07All this things.
01:08And she bursts into tears.
01:09Where is he?
01:10Where is he?
01:10Where is he?
01:10And we had to explain to her, hey, this is what happened and things happen and we're looking.
01:15But yeah, she was beside herself.
01:17Now, she did cuddle with the new doggie, but it wasn't the same.
01:23So, obviously, two hours from our Airbnb, we realized this.
01:27We call the hosts of the Airbnb.
01:30We message them and say, hey, listen, emergency, let us know.
01:34They said the cleaners went through the house.
01:36They instructed them to look for any stuffed animals.
01:38None.
01:39No.
01:40So, then, I'm like, okay.
01:42And my wife's like, I swear it's there.
01:43I swear it's there, Jeff.
01:45It never leaves from wherever she's sleeping.
01:47So, I give more specific directions.
01:49She was in this bed on this time and da-da-da-da-da.
01:51They said, okay, we're going to go over.
01:53So, the hosts go over.
01:54Nothing.
01:55That's when the maintenance worker and one of the hosts start going through our trash bags
02:01that we had thrown in the trash bin outside to be collected.
02:05Yeah.
02:05To make sure that maybe McKinley didn't put it in a bag and that bag got thrown out or whatever
02:09it might be.
02:10No luck.
02:12So, here we are.
02:14Three, four days later.
02:15With a really sad little girl.
02:17And, you know, I think we've gotten her for the most part past it, but she keeps calling
02:21this papa, other papa, and she's just like, is sad about it.
02:26Other papa.
02:27I love that.
02:27That's good.
02:28And that's when I get a message from the host saying that the cleaning lady brought all the sheets
02:35to the laundromat or wherever she does them, and papa was stuffed into the sheets, and he
02:41popped out of the dryer ready to come home.
02:44We found him.
02:46Oh my gosh, my heart is so full.
02:48That's when the Airbnb hosts go out of their way.
02:50They send us a picture, obviously.
02:52Just double checking, this is him.
02:54Yes, yes it is.
02:55Then, strapped into a seatbelt.
02:57Drive into the USPS.
02:59See him loaded up into a little box.
03:01Then a picture of the box all sealed with our address on the front.
03:05And then I say, oh my gosh, overnight it.
03:07I'll pay anything.
03:08Like, just let me know.
03:09And they say, no.
03:11We insist on taking care of this ourselves.
03:13Really?
03:13Thank you so much for being such good tenants.
03:17And I said, no, no, no.
03:18I insist.
03:19They said, absolutely not.
03:21And so I took about an hour last night to write them the world's greatest Airbnb host
03:25review you've ever seen.
03:26I was just going to say that.
03:27Ever.
03:28Jeff has some tears in his eyes right now.
03:31It's true.
03:31You know, you and Emily went above and beyond to, you know, make McKinley happy.
03:37And these hosts, I mean, we owe them everything.
03:39So big, big shout out.
03:41David and Jenny, thank you.
03:42Thank you, thank you for being so incredible.
03:45And welcome back home, Papa.
03:46Yes, yes.
