How does Stefon Diggs fit with the Commanders? Logan Paulsen joins Grant & Danny to break down the ripple effects of Washington's blockbuster signing. Paulsen explains why Diggs can be a valuable mentor for Antonio Williams, what the addition means for Terry McLaurin's role, and why it raises the stakes for receivers like Treylon Burks who still have to prove they belong. He also discusses who could be the odd man out in a crowded wide receiver room and what Diggs brings to Washington both on and off the field.

00:00The Commanders, right before we went on the air, in fact the news broke at about 1.58 today,
00:06Stephon Diggs being signed by the Commanders.
00:09It's a one-year deal, will be worth upwards of $12 million on the one-year deal, pending a physical.
00:17And he should be here at the facility by tomorrow.
00:20Get that physical done.
00:22Danny, they're going to be operating with a closed facility tomorrow.
00:25The media's not out here.
00:26So the first time anyone will see Diggs in a uniform on the practice field will be Friday morning.
00:31They'll have pads on again on Saturday morning.
00:33That's exciting.
00:34It just is.
00:35There's a guy.
00:36I mean, people I think kind of sleep on this.
00:38He's approaching top 25 all-time in yards, top 30 all-time in receiving touchdowns.
00:44He is on his way to being a Hall of Fame player.
00:47I know that sounds kind of crazy, but you look at some of the numbers he's compiled.
00:51He's in some very elite company, and he's here with still plenty in the tank.
00:54Let's go to the Rude Guest Hotline.
00:57Rude, the most reliable heating and air conditioning products in the DMV.
01:00And welcome on to the show my buddy, Logan Paulson.
01:03Danny's buddy, a former 10-year veteran tight end in the NFL.
01:09And my co-host on Take Command.
01:11Logan, huge breaking news.
01:13We've been talking a lot about the receiver room and Stephon Diggs.
01:16Are you surprised that Washington signed him today?
01:19What do you make of this move?
01:21No, I'm not surprised.
01:22I think, you know, it kind of goes back to that old adage, like, you could have probably
01:25gotten by with what was in the room.
01:28But any time you can add a good football player like Stephon Diggs, I think it just makes the
01:31roles a little bit better.
01:32It kind of bumps people down the depth chart a little bit.
01:35You're not relying on guys who haven't necessarily done it.
01:39Like, you know, Terlin Burks, I think, he's had a great camp.
01:41But he had 10 catches last year, right?
01:42He's been hurt a bunch of times, right?
01:44So, like, I don't want to be reliant on him to be super productive or do something that
01:48he might not be comfortable doing kind of in his first year healthy in a while, right?
01:51I want to give that responsibility to a guy like Stephon Diggs, who did it at a high level
01:56last year, very, very productive, and just has such a great feel for those moments, those
02:01big moments, and that level of production and that level of importance for an offense.
02:05What is his skill set now compared to maybe what it would have been a few years ago when
02:09he was going for, you know, 1,400, 1,500 yards?
02:13Yeah, I mean, you know, I think he went for almost 1,200 yards last year.
02:16So, like, what I say is that I think he's more of like an off-ball player.
02:19Now, like, early in his career, I kind of characterized him as like a true X on ball,
02:24like win versus man, win with great vertical speed.
02:27Now, I think he's probably still very, very talented.
02:30I think he still has some vertical juice to his game.
02:32But really, like, I think you see, after going through all of his receptions, all of his
02:35targets last year, like, you see a guy who's very comfortable in the slot and has tremendous
02:40feel.
02:40Like, he has a really good feel for the football.
02:43Again, probably has lost a step, but catches the football at a very, very high level.
02:47Great competitive toughness, quite honestly.
02:49Like, there's some big shots that he takes, like, snatching the football out of the air,
02:53hands catcher, runs through the ball at a high level, has a great feel for kind of that kind
02:58of double stick, Euro step at the top of his route, and knows how to create space, you know?
03:03And I think when you look at clips, especially later in the year with Drake May, like, he would
03:07just stare him down.
03:08He was like, I trust Diggs to win.
03:11And I think, like, that's a skill set that's very hard to find.
03:14So even though, like, maybe not quite the same horsepower that he had earlier in his
03:18career, I think there's still a guy who's playing winning football and can help this
03:22offense.
03:23You mentioned staring him down and waiting for him to win.
03:25I like him on third down in that way a lot.
03:28Some of those choice routes, right, where he can kind of break things off one way or the
03:32other or kind of throttle it down.
03:34How much do they use him in that way in New England?
03:36And then also, slot versus outside in this Blau offense?
03:40Like, how do you view him being a fit there?
03:44Yeah, so I was expecting a ton of choices, but they actually just ran a ton of straight
03:48out routes with him.
03:49Really?
03:49A bunch of out routes, kind of slants, kind of working the seam.
03:52Yeah, like, kind of big, kind of looping, what I would call like a sail route.
03:56And he just showed a great feel for that.
03:58Again, you see some of the movement qualities that make you think you'd be really good in
04:01the choice situation, which, again, is going to be a feature of this David Blau offense.
04:05So I think that savvy, that kind of short area quickness is still going to be an important
04:09part of this thing.
04:10But, you know, you mentioned outside-inside.
04:13Like, when you look at the targets last year, like, he is playing on the perimeter, but
04:16I think he's just drawing better matchups on the inside.
04:19Like, you know, we talked about this on Take a Man Show, Grant.
04:21Like, this idea that, like, you know, you can put him at X, right?
04:25But he's going to draw tough matchups, tough coverage looks.
04:28Like, then all of a sudden, you bump him into the slot, and he's drawing kind of the nickel
04:31defender, a hook player.
04:33And he has enough feel and savvy to beat that guy nine out of ten times.
04:36And, again, like, there's plays in New England where he's lined up as a true X on-ball player,
04:40and he can still win there.
04:42But why not maximize his production?
04:44And so I think he fits really well.
04:46I think him and Terry are going to complement each other.
04:48I do think this kind of bumps Terry back to, like, that true X role in the offense, which
04:53he's shown he can win at, you know, for the last ten years in the NFL.
04:56So I think that's kind of what you're looking at.
04:58But I think you've got a guy really smart, really savvy, good feel is the word I'm going to
05:03use here.
05:04And, Grant, like, just the way he snatches the football out of the air, I think it's
05:07something that can't be overstated.
05:09Like, I think he had three drops last year, and two of them were on bad passes.
05:12Like, he is, the way he catches the football is very, very high level.
05:16And, you know, ultimately when you're a receiver, that's the most short part of the position.
05:19And Logan Paulson with us here on G&D.
05:21Do you make anything of his camp?
05:23And I think it was via Jeremy Fowler.
05:26Clearly, that's where kind of the info came from.
05:28But how much do you buy of, hey, he was coming off of his ACL, he was on a pitch
05:32count, he's
05:33that much further removed now, and maybe there's a little bit more juice in the tank than we
05:37think, maybe than we saw even last year?
05:40Yeah, I mean, it's a good question, one that probably only Diggs knows for sure, Stefan Diggs
05:44knows for sure.
05:45I will say, like, you know, just looking at his gait, and again, like, I don't know him,
05:49I have no GPS data, just kind of to the eye test.
05:52He doesn't look like he has the same vertical juice that he had, again, when he was in Buffalo,
05:56which was, like, what, four or five years ago now?
05:58But, again, he still has the ability, because of how well he catches the football, to win
06:02some of those 50-50 contested catch footballs down the field.
06:06So, again, like, probably not his main course du jour anymore, but I think there still is
06:12a skill set that allows him to be successful in those roles.
06:14And, again, I can't overemphasize, like, the hands, obviously, but the feel for the position,
06:19like, just at the top of some of this stuff, like, just that subtle push-up at the last
06:22moment to create a little bit of separation on a go-ball, right?
06:25We were in a contested catch situation.
06:27Like, he's got a lot of tricks in the bag, a lot of tools in the bag, and I think
06:31if
06:31the quarterback's willing to trust him, he's going to make you feel a lot better about
06:34this offense.
06:35Logan Paulson breaking down the addition of Stephon Diggs, a one-year deal with the
06:41commanders.
06:42You know one of the only reasons I was kind of adamantly against Diggs as a fit, going
06:48back to the offseason, was when they drafted Antonio Williams, I wanted to give him every
06:54chance to flourish, and I view he and Diggs as somewhat redundant in how they operate.
06:59Give me a thought on what this does for Williams, spreading his wings a little bit, and then
07:05also, the flip side, the positive of that, all the guys we've seen, some of whom have
07:09had some really good camps so far, just moving down the depth chart.
07:12It's like getting an extra starting pitcher, and everyone moves down the depth chart.
07:16You become that much better.
07:18Yeah, that's a great question.
07:19So that's another reason that I was a little bit reluctant, because again, I think there
07:22is a lot of crossover, and as I was watching the film, going through the run cut-ups, going
07:26through the pass cut-ups, one of the things that came to the forefront of thought was
07:29like, this is what you hope Antonio Williams becomes at some point, right?
07:34A guy with this kind of route-running feel that catches the football this way.
07:38Again, I think Antonio Williams needs a little bit of time to grow, and I think that's one
07:43of the reasons why this signing happens, right, so you can get a guy in here, mentor the young
07:47pup, and again, I've talked to people up in New England, I've told you this before, Grant
07:50guys, that I have a lot of faith in, a lot of trust in, and they just said he was,
07:54Stephon
07:55Diggs was a great teammate, great mentor, really helped kind of the young guys blossom, so
07:59I think you're bringing in not only a guy who can help you win right now, but a guy that's
08:02going to help Antonio Williams kind of say, like, you know, like, hey, man, on this option
08:07route or this out route, like, think about this inside stem, think about this double
08:10stick at the top, maybe take one more revolution to create this space.
08:13And then, like, I think, like, having that kind of mentorship in the room is going to
08:17be really advantageous, so maybe this, like, initially kind of limits the amount of Antonio
08:21Williams in terms of his touches, but maybe later in the year, man, you're getting, like,
08:25three receiver sets, and they're all on the field together, and they're being dynamic
08:28playmakers that all can win in one-on-one situations, kind of with this, like, slinky
08:34basketball-type suddenness.
08:35And so, and then the other thing you brought up there, Grant, which I think is great, is,
08:38like, how it kind of moves everybody down, right?
08:40You know, like, when we're talking about the receiver room, the pass catcher room, it's
08:44like, okay, well, now, you know, Chig has to have 75 catches, Trillin Burks has to have
08:4745 catches, and they just haven't done that before.
08:50So now it kind of takes some of the onus and the responsibility off those guys to have these
08:54monster years and kind of says, hey, man, you can come along at your own pace.
08:58We have this other weapon here.
08:59And so when Sugar Conco is ready, when Trillin Burks is ready, and they've matured as the
09:04year's gone on, all of a sudden it's like, holy cow, like, we've got a bunch of pieces
09:07that are more mature, more comfortable in their roles, and now are ready for larger
09:11opportunities.
09:12And I think that's exactly what you're looking for with this type of signing.
09:16Logan, I'm going to use a poorly drawn basketball analogy here for a second to tie it back.
09:20So in years past, if somebody's a primary ball handler or point guard, you're like, oh, we
09:25can't possibly have another one of those guys because that's the point guard.
09:28Now, the game is pretty positionless.
09:30It's five guys outside the three-point line, and everybody kind of takes turns initiating
09:33the offense and whatever.
09:35You're starting to see some of that, I think, with football, too.
09:38And to me, when I hear there's a crossover and skill set maybe at this point between
09:42Diggs and Williams, my first reaction isn't panic.
09:45I go, good.
09:46I want some of that deception.
09:48I want some of that crossover where they're interchangeable, where one's outside one play and inside
09:52the next play, and they're lined up in a stack, and you don't know which way he's
09:55going and this, that, and the other.
09:56It reminds me of Chennaul and Stiles there as speedy linebackers.
10:00I want guys that are good at football and good after the catch.
10:04I feel like they've got two of those guys now.
10:06That's less of a problem to me and more of a, all right, David Blau, get to work in
10:09the lab.
10:10Your thoughts there?
10:11Well, I think that's a good way of looking at it.
10:13Again, like, I like the basketball analogy, too, because you've kind of got five major pass
10:18catchers, right, that you're going to get in a rotation, maybe six, if you want to kind
10:21of spread that out a little bit.
10:22And then you've got two guys who are kind of like your stud alphas, right?
10:26And I think that, you know, you've got Terry, you've got Diggs.
10:29And like you said, like, redundant skill sets aren't that worrisome.
10:32Now just the role for that redundant skill set is more specific to that skill set.
10:37So instead of telling Williams how to learn how to play Z, maybe some F, some X, like
10:42to get on the field, it's like, okay, now we can use them in this specific package, in
10:46this specific situation, because we have this other talent to kind of offload some of that
10:50responsibility, this other kind of star, as the word I'm going to use, to kind of offload
10:54some of that responsibility from these other guys on the roster and let them kind of fall
10:58in the more natural playmaking role.
11:01So like with Williams, I think this is good because it says, hey, man, now we can be more
11:04specific about what we're asking you to do.
11:06With Burks, we can be more specific as opposed to saying, hey, man, we need you guys to play
11:10a lot of minutes on Sunday, win a lot of reps, kind of be very productive players.
11:15Like this, again, I think is the right kind of thing.
11:18And the skill set, the redundancy doesn't really bother me.
11:20It's just, I think it's more like, it more is the allocation of roles after this signing
11:25that I think is the important element to kind of focus on.
11:27Logan, I'm not going to pretend like they signed Justin Jefferson, but it's like closer
11:31to that than signing, you know, a dude who was on the defenders this year.
11:35What do you think this does for Terry McLaurin?
11:38He has never had a wide receiver two coming off a thousand yards who was someone you had
11:44to worry about on third down, really.
11:47Yeah, it's interesting because like, I think, you know, it'll be interesting to see how they
11:51kind of allocate a role because I kind of thought Terry was going to fall into this role.
11:54And then, you know, like Traylon Burks, Deami Brown was going to be kind of your sacrificial
11:59X. And so what sacrificial is maybe a little bit of a harsh word, but someone to kind of
12:02clear coverage out, create space, draw poor matchups, kind of indicate or kind of force
12:08a certain kind of coverage role.
12:09And now I think Terry is going to occupy that role.
12:11And I think Stefan Diggs might get some more of this underneath stuff because he's shown
12:15a high propensity for it, obviously, last year in New England.
12:17So it'll be interesting, I think, to kind of see how you maximize a guy who has predominantly
12:23played X over the last couple of years and how you kind of say, oh, like, where do we
12:29maximize this X player and where do we maximize this off-ball Z player?
12:32Because that seems to be their natural roles.
12:34But again, we'll see what happens when they get into camp because maybe you can get Deami
12:37to fit some of that stuff in terms of sacrificial X and get Terry and, you know,
12:43step out on the field together, kind of in those off-ball roles, running some of that
12:47underneath, running some of those underneath route concepts.
12:51Logan, in terms of target distribution, you kind of touched on this.
12:54I'm actually fascinated by it.
12:55I could see a world where Diggs gets more targets than Terry, even though David Blau famously
13:00said, like, we're going 10 a game for Terry or maybe that many more.
13:03But just because of the nature of the routes, if Diggs is working underneath more, it's,
13:07you know, those first down pitch and catches, you know, maybe for not that much just to
13:10keep you on time in terms of down and distance.
13:12And still Terry ends up with more yardage and some of the bigger plays, et cetera.
13:17How do you see the distribution going?
13:19Yeah, I think it's something, at least as of right now, you know, they made this signing,
13:22what, like an hour ago, two hours ago.
13:24So I'm still kind of working through it, but that's kind of the way I see it.
13:26I think I see Terry as this guy that's going to be a little bit more kind of a traditional
13:31vertical route tree, kind of a little bit more one-on-one basketball on the perimeter,
13:35kind of if we like the matchup, let's set a rip.
13:37And then Stephon Diggs is the guy that you're kind of saying, okay, he's the inside guy.
13:41He's the number three receiver in certain concepts.
13:43He's got a matchup on a linebacker.
13:44Let's exploit that.
13:45Oh, okay, we're going to use him in motion.
13:46He's going to run that choice or that option, like Grant was talking about.
13:49Like that's kind of what it feels like to me.
13:51Like he might be more of a – Stephon Diggs might be more of a driver of the offense
13:56while, you know, Terry McCord is more like the knockout punch artist.
14:00And, again, that role seems very natural for both of them
14:03because that's what Stephon Diggs did last year,
14:05and that's what Terry's done specifically the last two years here in Washington.
14:09Logan Paulson breaking down Stephon Diggs on a one-year deal to the commanders.
14:14You mentioned De'Ami Brown in one of your answers, and it's funny.
14:17I think we've gone from going, who the heck's going to be wide receiver two
14:20to how do they get all these guys on the roster pretty quickly?
14:23But I'm just going to workshop this, and then I want your reaction to this.
14:26But I think clearly McLaurin, Diggs, and Williams are like put it in Sharpie locks.
14:31Those are three guys.
14:33Then, based on Jalen Lane being a punt returner coming off two major tutties last year,
14:37I think he's a lock to be your punt returner.
14:39You'd say he's four.
14:40McCaffrey was the best kick returner in the league,
14:42so I'm just going to put him in pen and say he's five,
14:45and then just workshopping this out loud.
14:48I think Traylon Burks is so big and gives them so much that they don't really have otherwise.
14:53There's no one redundant to him on this roster.
14:55Plus, you could disagree if you want to, but I've loved his camp.
14:58I think he's been awesome in that wide receiver two role.
15:01So I kind of view him as like he's going to be in, that's your sixth guy.
15:04I think they keep seven maybe because you have two return men in this mix.
15:08But even if you keep seven, which is not a lock, now you're talking about the Ami, Van Jefferson,
15:13a bunch of dudes competing out here.
15:15It's a pretty stiff competition.
15:17So there's now an odd man out probably from this group.
15:21Yeah, I guess there is.
15:23And I think with the way I kind of think about it is like with Nick Ballora retiring,
15:28obviously there's like a special team spot faked.
15:30So like that Jalen Lane role is going to like, I think that Jalen Lane position kind of offsets
15:36that roster spot or that roster vacancy.
15:38But I do think you bring up a great point.
15:40I think it is a little bit more competitive.
15:41And I think the roles are going to be much more interesting.
15:44Like I kind of think like, even though Van Jefferson had a really good day a couple days ago,
15:48like I think about the youth and the explosiveness of the Ami and how that would accent
15:52Stephon Diggs, Terry McLaurin, right?
15:54You mentioned the size of Burks, how that accents this room in a really nice way.
15:57And so I kind of think, yeah, I think you keep six.
16:00I think it's the six that you, that a lot of fans are probably thinking.
16:03And I, and for whatever reason, I think, you know, Van Jefferson, again, has been a stud
16:06in camp is maybe on the outside looking in just because he doesn't have anything, you
16:10know, he's just so consistently steady.
16:13He's a good route runner.
16:14He's got consistent hands, but De'Ami kind of has the, you know, the, the pocket aces here
16:18in terms of being able to hit the home run play.
16:21Burks is kind of this athletic freak in the red zone who can win one-on-one.
16:24So maybe again, because he's, he's like, you know, he's very good at a lot of things,
16:29but not excellent at anything.
16:31Van Jefferson's the guy that kind of is on the outside looking in.
16:33In terms of personality, I mean, this is such a hard thing because we're not sitting down
16:38interviewing him, et cetera.
16:39But this is a guy that, you know, has, I don't know how to say this right away, Logan,
16:42but has kind of run afoul of each of the last couple of stops before doing these kind
16:46of one-year serial new team situations, talking about Diggs, where he, you know, for whatever
16:51reason, wasn't happy in Buffalo, wasn't happy in Minnesota before then.
16:54There is some potential volatility there.
16:56And that's kind of the downside.
16:58Did you ever play with a player like that?
17:00Number one.
17:00And number two, what's the best way to make sure that he's happy and taken care of while
17:04still maybe not sacrificing productivity for others?
17:07Yeah.
17:08I mean, it's a, it's the kind of the age old question and, you know, I was really concerned
17:12about that.
17:13But then again, I talked to some guys that I have worked with closely and played with and
17:17some of the guys that I very implicitly trust.
17:20And they said, like, he was an angel in the locker room where they, with them, right?
17:24With the, with the team right now, obviously there's some off-field stuff that probably
17:28doesn't make ownership super happy and all that kind of thing.
17:30But in terms of how he was in the locker room, they said he was an angel, which that
17:35was a direct quote.
17:35Now, I don't know if I would go that far.
17:37I'm still a little bit.
17:38I want to see what this looks like here, but because of the people who told me that I'm,
17:41I'm kind of believing that he's going to come in and be a model citizen, at least
17:44initially.
17:45And so, you know, obviously I've played with guys like, you know, Deshaun Jackson, who's
17:50got a little bit of a diva to him, Pierre Garçon, who is a diva or aggressively outward,
17:56but is an excellent teammate.
17:57So I think it just depends on the guy and how they kind of individually handle their diva
18:03nature, so to speak.
18:04And so from what I've heard, I think he's going to be great.
18:07And I'm really excited to see him come in here and make the team a whole lot better,
18:11help Jaden Daniels, help his offense, and help David Blau kind of install his offensive
18:16vision, because I think his skill set, just Stephon Diggs, is going to be excellent for
18:20this group.
18:20Yeah, the pros, as it pertains to Blau getting a weapon, far outweigh the cons, in my opinion.
18:26That goes without saying.
18:27But as a first-time play caller and coordinator, and I mean, you called plays at the high school
18:33level, and you've had to put offenses together.
18:35The more mouths to feed, it's a great thing.
18:39It can also be tricky, and you've got to have the right mouths to feed.
18:42McLaurin has long been the antithesis of a diva.
18:44You just talked about the fact that Diggs' reputation has changed some, but what's your
18:50take on that part of it with Blau and trying to keep a wide receiver?
18:54One, you pay about $30 million happy.
18:56Now Stephon Diggs comes in here, and I don't think he's going to be thrilled with a one-catch
19:0011-yard game.
19:02How does he go about that?
19:03Because they added Chig.
19:05They're trying to get the ball to Bill.
19:06They've got pieces.
19:09Yeah, I definitely think it is a problem, but it is a good problem to have.
19:13If you're a coach, this is the issue you want to have.
19:15You want to be sitting up late at night going, man, how do we make sure we get everybody happy
19:20here?
19:20Because if everybody's happy and we have enough playmakers, that's really the thing that's
19:24going to drive this offense.
19:25It's not so much me with my pen and my paper.
19:27It's like, if you've got dudes that are ballers and can win, that's going to help us no matter
19:31what.
19:32And I think that's, again, a good problem to have.
19:34But you've seen Blau do some of that already through training camp, kind of with the formations
19:41and different kind of trips alignments, like with allocating different, like, so the X
19:45is in the third spot, right?
19:46The F is in the two spot.
19:48Like, you're getting a really dynamic playmaker in a good coverage situation or a good matchup
19:53for the offense.
19:53Like, he's already shown signs that he can do that.
19:56Now, we've just got to kind of take that to the next level and say, how do we now maximize
20:01Stephon Diggs, Ryan McLaurin, Bill, like you talked about, Shig.
20:05Like, I think this is a good problem to have and one that he has shown, or at least started
20:09to show, a proclivity for handling already.
20:12Logan, how is he as a blocker?
20:14And is that maybe something that he isn't going to get enough credit for?
20:17Because he's, as you kind of put it, not a huge guy, but he's sneaky physical.
20:22Yeah, so that was one where I, like, you're going through the run game cut-ups and you,
20:25again, I have a, I have a, maybe a, what is that word?
20:29Like, a pre, a pre-diagnosis of what I think he is as a person and as a player, like
20:34this
20:34beaver receiver.
20:35And you start watching, you're like, man, that's like a pretty tough block.
20:38Like, he's throwing himself in there.
20:39Like, he's digging his safety out.
20:41Like, it's not like he's, you know, a fullback.
20:43Not like he's like Mike Alsop, but like, the stuff that they asked him to do, I was like,
20:47all right, like, this is important to you.
20:48And I was kind of, like, trying to put a context, like, taking away the number, taking away
20:52the name.
20:52Like, what would I think about the player?
20:54And I was like, this is a winning football player who I would want in my organization,
20:58not knowing who he was, right?
21:00And because of how he blocks, because of how he catches the football, because of some of
21:04the stuff he does after the catch.
21:05Like, there is a, like, this is a, don't get it twisted, man.
21:08This guy's playing good ball.
21:09And I know there's a lot of baggage associated with the name and associated with the personality.
21:13But, like, if you're just watching the All-22, when you're going through his season last
21:17year, like, he had an excellent, he had an excellent season.
21:20You know, I don't know if he's a top 15 player still, but, like, he is a very, very, very
21:25useful
21:25football player.
21:26And I think that's the thing.
21:28It's like, I thought he blocked well.
21:29I thought he did some, like, did some nice clear-out stuff, which, again, Grant talked about
21:33getting guys touches.
21:34Like, he was a, at moments, very selfless football player, which I was not expecting.
21:38And obviously, winning helps with that.
21:40But I expect him to win a lot of games here with the Washington Commanders.
21:42So, hopefully, he comes in and brings a lot of that same stuff that he had in New England.
21:46Logan Paulson, breaking news.
21:48Stephon Diggs, a one-year deal with the Commanders.
21:51On the rest of the receiver room, you've been out at every practice like I have.
21:56Go through those guys and who's impressed you, if you're willing to rank them or what have
22:00you.
22:00But, like, who stood out to you?
22:04Yeah, I mean, it's, I mean, obviously, like, this is a tough deal because it kind of depends
22:08on the day.
22:08And, you know, as you go through training camp, there are ebbs and flows.
22:11And so, obviously, out of the gate, Shalen Burks is the guy that impresses the most, right,
22:15because he's winning all these huge, kind of above-the-rim plays in the red zone.
22:19I think Luke's has had a really sneaky, positive camp in how he's taught the football, how he's
22:24running around, how he's blocked.
22:25Like, I think there is a useful kind of role for him there.
22:29The utilization of Chig is something that I've liked.
22:31And, again, we haven't necessarily seen it show up in production.
22:33But just in terms of, like, where he's lining up, the types of routes he's running, I think
22:36that's going to be very helpful for the offense.
22:39De'Ami had that one big day a couple days ago where he's making plays down the field.
22:42So, if I was going to rank the pass catchers, I'd probably, obviously, go Terry.
22:46I'd go Chig.
22:47I'd go Traylon Burks.
22:49I think I'd probably go Luke.
22:52I think Luke's had a very solid camp.
22:53And then probably De'Ami, Jalen Lane, some type of order like that.
22:57So, that's kind of just high-level what I'm thinking at the moment.
23:03But this feels, and I think, you know, you'll be interested in what you have to say about
23:07this, Grant.
23:07Like, this year feels so much different than it did last year and even different than it
23:12did two years ago.
23:13I just think they've got such great depth.
23:14And I think they had great depth before the signing.
23:16But now you've got a guy who's going to step in that role and be the alpha dog in conjunction
23:21with Terry in that room.
23:22Logan, awesome as always, buddy.
23:24Really appreciate it.
23:24And I'm going to bug you offline.
23:25I'm going to have you review our 8U flag football offense and look for, you know, some holes
23:31and chances for upgrade, man.
23:32Appreciate you.
23:34Yeah, thanks, guys.
23:35Appreciate you.
