00:23and denounced that Tokyo is using the so-called China threat narrative as an argument to promote its military build

00:34Chinese Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Chen Xi said that the document contains false narratives
00:43and expressed the firm opposition of the Chinese authorities.
00:48The remarks came after Japan published its annual Defense of Japan 2026,
00:57the report in which it's described China's military activities as its greatest strategic challenge
01:05and questioned Beijing's actions in areas near Taiwan.
01:10Chen said that Japan has increased military spending,
01:15expanded its long-range strike capabilities and seeks to remove historical restrictions on its armed force.
01:24According to the spokesperson, these measures affect the regional stability.
01:31Regarding Taiwan, Chen reiterated that it's an issue linked to China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
01:40In 1971, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Resolution 2758,
01:50recognizing the People's Republic of China as the only legitimate representative of China and the organization.
01:59Relations between the two countries are also marked by the memory of the World War II,
02:05when the Japan occupied the Chinese territories and committed serious war crimes,
02:12causing more than 20 million victims.

02:21Chinese authorities urged Tokyo to reflect on its history of aggression and avoid moving toward further militarization.
