00:33and more of a reliance on uh pure pure baseball guys who know baseball letting them think on their
00:42own has been a factor getting that party animal out of the clubhouse to fort myers
00:49um i mean would you throw the durbinator in there the way he's been hitting the baseball
00:55yeah throw the durbinator him sedan what what some would argue i guess alex core removing alex
01:02and his crew from the equation the arrival of bennett who was dominant her first his first like
01:07five or six starts can you explain to me that though like the alex cora turnaround i obviously
01:14wasn't here when that all happened what were the reports that like it was his message just being
01:19lost because i don't know how you can go from spring training where all you hear about is is players
01:24singing his praises to then his message being lost like could it really be that chad tracy
01:29has such a big effect on these players and i'm not saying he doesn't i'm just asking the question
01:34when it comes to tracy's turnaround yes do you want to give a lot of credit to chad tracy yeah

01:40just to me i don't understand the the drop off when it comes to alex cora who all we were

01:46so many years was that he was a players manager all these players loved him all these players
01:50wanted to play for him guys were coming to boston just to play for alex cora how that could just
01:56change in such a short period of time it still does not you weren't you weren't here for it but
02:03basically wiggy got him fired yeah wiggy wiggy came at him with uh uh i mean a lot like a

02:11down the uh right down the middle bulldog and i was i guess it's called in the world of journalism
02:16but i think the thing with alex cora is this is his his guys um were the trevor stories of

02:26the roman anthony's of the world guys that really weren't contributing then you had the new guys
02:31like durbin contreras uh sonny gray ranger suarez where maybe these guys might have viewed maybe
02:43his message differently from those other guys i just think maybe his message or and i and we had
02:49said this somebody had said this one time that he looked checked out at one point in the dugout at

02:55game and i think maybe that was part of him not being able to get certain guys to buy into

03:02they're trying to do and maybe they his message felt fell on deaf ears the only thing that could
03:07make sense to me was the alex bregman situation and if that rubbed a lot of players the wrong way
03:12the way in which that alex bregman was welcomed in by alex cora and alex cora and he had this
03:16relationship and did he i mean it sounded like that certainly the young guys that and i'm always
03:21accused of being a bregman stan but you know i it it's it seemed like they loved having him around
03:29yeah it just if if you want to talk about who were alex cora's guys and you bring up guys

03:35trevor story you also have to bring up a guy like alex bregman who was brought in yeah but that

03:39last year though we're talking about a new squad this year like we were talking when we got down
03:44to but at the beginning of spring training we were still talking about alex bregman right but in that
03:47situation i think the question was also didn't have the issues with the young guys again i'm
03:52going to sound like i'm on his payroll and i'm not but you didn't have the issues with the young
03:57guys off the field when alex bregman was around yeah it i would of course and going back to spring
04:04training to a man everybody said they don't envision the red socks without alex cora that they all
04:11credited cora last year for why they got to the playoffs and roman anthony was more despondent than
04:16anyone that bregman wasn't here he talked about how he missed him remember the world baseball
04:20classic bregman and he were teammates again and everybody was talking about how much they missed
04:24him here and why didn't they get that done because bregman because roman anthony credited bregman with
04:30his performance at the wbc so i don't think i think the team stunk for many reasons they just didn't
04:37open the season well there was pressure there was a lot of guys that were not really playing up to
04:42their capabilities and that's what happens things unravel great managers don't always remain
04:48forever he Winston Churchill lost the next election after world war ii i mean things don't leaders don't
04:54stay on forever for whatever reason also made a point to make a few comments before this season about
05:00how he didn't want to be a manager forever like this wasn't a a long-term thing for him the
05:04rest of
05:05his career and so so maybe he was checked out yeah and so and and and i and i get
05:11that the players
05:12like curtis just said it a lot of those players they weren't even playing to like a major league
05:18average major league player level so a lot of those guys were well underperforming and that obviously was
05:25played a factor into them getting off to that such a horrible start and then the horrible start guys not
05:31playing to the level that they should be playing at maybe certain guys are checking out messages going
05:36in one air and out the other and brezbart says all right maybe what we have to do is get
05:41a new voice
05:41in here that is just different and that's what they're able to do and then guys started performing
05:48to a better level and you had the pitching all year long and that ultimately what what happened and i
05:54think
05:55the vibe of these guys it didn't seem like at the first half of the season it just seemed like
06:01these
06:02guys were just a bunch of dudes that really didn't want to be here and then when you got tracy
06:08and you
06:08started to get on a little bit of a roll you won a couple of games well with tracy you
06:13were the same
06:13as cora for a month or yeah and then i think what ends up happening then they kind of figure
06:17out who
06:17they were like you said they go away from driveline went away from driveline like i i think the issue
06:22i'm sure the issue at times between alex cora and and craig breslow was the over reliance on the
06:33analytics and that you can just look at the fact that they allowed chad tracy to allow players
06:39to bunt the baseball craig you know they were they controlled every single aspect of what they were
06:46doing and they were unable to manufacture runs in that situation and i believe that it happens
06:53where breslow and cora's relationship was strained to a point that breslow refused to listen to cora's
07:00ideas even when they were the right ones good morning and then you have chad tracy here and
07:06breslow we all agree when they were making that pivot and dr hill was with sam kennedy that breslow's
07:11job was on the line right yeah okay so when your job's on your line on the line you you
07:15tend to be
07:16more open to other things that may save it yeah and he did many of the things that cora was
07:20begging
07:21him to do and it's great it's worked out tracy's the guy going forward but don't you think cora's
07:26somewhere on a beach right now or you know hanging out with his family sitting back saying
07:30if they had done this when i was there i'd probably still have my job
