00:00For two weeks, we asked one question, is this place ready for one more unforgettable night?
00:05That wasn't just about Maple Leaf Pro, it was about Maple Leaf Gardens.
00:09Why was Adam Copeland the right person to answer the call at the end of the show?
00:13I mean, I think it's a simple one.
00:15When you think of Canadian wrestling in the past 25 years, is there a name that's bigger
00:21than Adam Copeland?
00:23I mean, as Edge in the WWE and now as Cope and Adam Copeland in AEW, he's been at the
00:27forefront of the industry for over two decades and he's an individual who, I mean, his story
00:34has been told and we'll tell it over the coming weeks, but he grew up in Toronto dreaming of
00:38being a pro wrestler, of taking public transit down to Maple Leaf Gardens, scraping up all
00:45of his money to buy a cheap seat to the show to go there and be able to watch wrestling
00:49in Maple Leaf Gardens.
00:50So, when Adam heard about our return to Maple Leaf Gardens, he was over the moon.
00:57Adam and I go back to, geez, we were roommates 30 years ago in our first territory in Moncton,
01:03New Brunswick and we were friends before that, that bonded us, you know, tighter and we've
01:08stayed in touch over the years.
01:10And I mean, for this, I mean, for Adam Copeland, it's huge because he gets to go wrestle and
01:15fulfill a childhood dream that he thought he was never going to get an opportunity to do.
01:19For Maple Leaf Pro, it's an honor, it's a privilege and it's, you know, in a business where we
01:26like to hype things up.
01:27I don't think this needs any hyping.
01:29One of the biggest stars in wrestling, one of the biggest Canadian athletes of the last
01:35couple of generations is coming to Maple Leaf Pro for Northern Rising.
01:40And I don't think it gets any bigger than that.
01:46Maple Leaf Gardens is one of the most iconic buildings in Canadian sports and wrestling history.
01:51What does it mean to have someone like Adam Copeland walk into that building under the
01:55Maple Leaf Pro banner?
01:58I mean, Maple Leaf Pro was created to be a place for Canadian wrestlers to get an opportunity,
02:06to have a platform, to have a home, to have a place where you could train, where you could
02:10be developed, you could be showcased, and then ultimately you could move on to the highest
02:15levels of this industry.
02:17Adam Copeland is one of the few that overcame all those odds without a system like this.
02:21And I've chatted with Adam, and Adam understands that in addition to the importance and the
02:27special nature of getting to wrestle in Maple Leaf Gardens, one of the things that he really
02:31loves about this is the fact that he gets to make a difference.
02:34Because while he got the opportunity to go do everything he dreamed of, he knows others
02:39that got left behind.
02:41And having a mega, mega, mega star like Adam Copeland, you know, the biggest of the biggest,
02:46coming here to Maple Leaf Pro, a Canadian legend, a wrestling legend, is huge and can't be understated.
02:54So I think that this shows that not even, it's not just all the up and coming amazing talent
03:01that's interested in Maple Leaf Pro, but people all over Canada and all over the wrestling industry
03:05are standing up and taking notice.
03:09You saw Bret Hart on a recent episode of MLP Mayhem.
03:13Now you've got Adam Copeland coming to be a part to wrestle at Maple Leaf Gardens.
03:19I just don't think it gets any bigger than that.
03:24Adam Copeland's arrival instantly elevates Northern Rising.
03:27But beyond the star power, what message does this send about Maple Leaf Pro's vision and
03:32what you're building together?
03:36You know, I think when you look at it, our vision is about building a home base for Canadians.
03:43It's about building a Canadian company that now can be seen coast to coast on TSN, can
03:50now be seen around the world as well with my AEW.
03:52And it's about giving opportunity.
03:54And I think the fact that somebody who isn't just a megastar from the Attitude Era, you know,
04:02is a mega megastar right now.
04:07Like you're talking about somebody who is just part of a massive pay-per-view in Montreal.
04:11You're talking about somebody who's at the very top of the industry.
04:15You're talking about somebody who I watched just months ago in Toronto there at Scotiabank Arena, you know, steal the
04:21show.
04:21You're talking about the best of the best in the industry, you know.
04:24It's always great.
04:26And I mean, look, like the fact that people when they retire or at the tail ends of their career
04:31go and do stuff.
04:32But the fact that Adam, who's still competing with the very best.
04:36And when you look at it, there's no question, you know, AEW has the best wrestling in the world.
04:42We're honored to be associated and partnered with them.
04:45And the fact that Adam, a guy who, in addition to everything he's doing in wrestling with AEW,
04:51if you look at his acting resume and what he's got on the go in Hollywood, this guy has as
04:56jammed a schedule as possible.
04:57So the fact that he's willing to block out the time to come here, to be a part of MLP,
05:03to be there October 3rd for Northern Rising at our spiritual home,
05:10the former Maple Leaf Gardens, I don't know how, I don't even know how to sum it up into words.
05:16I just don't think it could ever get bigger and more important.
05:18And what this does for Maple Leaf Pro, I think, is provide a legitimacy and a reach that would have
05:24took years without his involvement.
05:30We saw Brett Hurt tonight on MLP Mayhem.
05:33Tell me more. What was that about?
05:36Shoot, sorry.

05:43What a journey he's had.
05:45Will we be learning more about Mo on Mayhem in the coming weeks?
05:50Yeah, look, I think Mo's a great example that it's always been this way, but it's more so now than
06:00it's ever been before.
06:02Not all Canadians look alike and not all Canadians have the same history.
06:08As far as I'm concerned, and I think as far as most Canadians are concerned, Mo Jabari is as Canadian
06:13as it can be.
06:14You know, we saw a little bit of his story.
06:17And Mo, with his mother, they had a dream.
06:21They had a dream of a better life.
06:23That life, like so many, like you think about it, almost all of us that are in Canada now and
06:27call ourselves Canadians are here.
06:30Because somebody in our ancestry made a choice.
06:34There's a better life for us.
06:35That better life is Canada.
06:37And we get to see through Mo's eyes what it's like.
06:41Something that, I mean, I didn't get to experience.
06:43My father did, and I'm grateful that he did.
06:45But we get to experience and feel a little bit of what he went through.
06:49The struggles.
06:50And then, you know, for Mo, not to just come to Canada and be, oh wow, I'm safe.
06:56Oh wow, I've got a warm place to sleep.
07:00Wow, I've got a, you know, I've got food to eat.
07:02I mean, he's like, I don't want just the necessities.
07:05You know, I came here for a dream.
07:07And Mo Jabari is chasing the dream.
07:09And I mean, I don't know if anybody can dispute that he's probably got one of the greatest advisors in
07:14the world when you call Bret Hart dad.
07:19So, you know, they've got a very close bond.
07:22I've seen it.
07:22I've talked to Bret about it.
07:24And obviously I've talked to Mo about it.
07:25And I think it's great that, you know, Bret didn't take an interest in Mo because Mo was a wrestler.
07:33But Bret took an interest in Mo because of his story, because of the, you know, his and his mother's
07:39plight and their story of coming to Canada for a better life.
07:43So I think Mo's story is truly inspirational and I look forward to watching him develop as the weeks of
07:48mayhem go on.
07:49I've got to say, Scott, tonight felt more chaotic and unpredictable than the first two episodes.
07:54Is the competition inside Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling becoming harder to control as personalities and rivalries continue escalating?
08:04Yeah, I look at it this way.
08:06I mean, we're Canada, I'm a sports guy, so I'll use hockey.
08:09You watch those early hockey games in an NHL season and there's good hockey, you know, but as the season
08:16wears on, it becomes a race to make the playoffs.
08:19Those games get tougher, tempers flare and things get more aggressive.
08:23And then once you hit the playoffs, it's a whole different game.
08:27We're starting to settle into the season now.
08:29The first couple of weeks really were so amazing.
08:33We're here, you know, you kind of felt that energy that this is so great that this is happening.
08:37This is finally happening. There's almost all this excitement.
08:40Now people, I think, are starting to go October 3rd isn't that far away.
08:44And if you're a wrestler and you're in Maple Leaf Pro, if you have any goal other than finding the
08:50best spot on that card, the highest profile spot on that card on October 3rd, then I think that your
08:55priorities are skewed.
08:56So I think as we get in week after week here mayhem, I think it's going to get even more
09:02and more intense.
09:02And I think to your point, probably, probably more might get more and more chaotic and that's okay.
09:07We'll manage the chaos anytime there's conflict.
09:09We have a square out there in the middle of that crowd, you know, confined by ropes to put people
09:16in and let them solve their problems.
09:18So I like that things are starting to heat up.
09:21And I think one of the things that makes the mayhem series different than so much out and out else
09:25in professional wrestling, you have 12 weeks.
09:29That's it.
09:30You have 12 weeks every week that you don't get a match every week that you don't stand out every
09:36week that you don't do something special.
09:39Is a wasted week.
09:40And there's only 12 of them.
09:42You know, I came up in an industry, you know, a mentor of mine said, we got 52 weeks of
09:47this this year.
09:48If you don't get it right this week, you've got 51 more.
09:50You don't have that here.
09:52Any week that you don't do something in MLP on the mayhem series, you've lost one of 12 opportunities you
10:01have.
10:01And I think people are going to start to feel those ticking away quickly.
10:04Lethal Twist scored a major victory tonight over an incredibly accomplished trio.
10:10How much momentum can a win like that create for talent trying to establish themselves in MLP?
10:16Yeah.
10:17And I mean, Lethal Twist, what an unbelievable team.
10:22I mean, Jay Lethal is a legend of legends.
10:24I mean, I had the opportunity of signing Jay Lethal to his first wrestling contract many, many years ago.
10:30And we had an opportunity to talk about that earlier today.
10:34And the career he's went on to have multiple time world champion wrestled on the world.
10:39Like, here's a guy who one of the greatest wrestlers in the world.
10:42Here's a guy who's one of the greatest talkers in the business.
10:45Here's a guy who's as funny and entertaining and as versatile as anybody in the wrestling business.
10:51And then with Lee Johnson and Blake Christian, he's aligned himself with two of the very best.
10:58I first met Blake during the pandemic when we were shooting in a bubble in a closed set.
11:03He was super talented then.
11:06He likes to remind me that I missed the boat because I was literally a couple of days short of
11:13getting a contract and offer in front of him.
11:16And he ended up going somewhere else.
11:18We've maintained a friendship and a relationship, you know, where he reaches out to me to talk to me about
11:24stuff.
11:25I always reach out and check on him.
11:26I mean, he's cocky. Lee's cocky. Jay, you know, cocky and smarmy as hell.
11:33But they're super talented.
11:34And I've always thought that Swirl, Johnson and Christian are one of the best young tag teams in wrestling.
11:42And I think if you've been watching them in AEW and watching them now here in MLP, you better be
11:47taking notice.
11:48Don Callis said it on commentary how good they are.
11:50And they really are.
11:52They're, you know, they're unbelievable tag team.
11:55Their chemistry is amazing.
11:56And then we saw like when Blake got an opportunity to go out there and challenge for the Ring of
12:01Honor World Championship recently,
12:03we saw how good he is as a single.
12:04So these guys have bright futures ahead of themselves.
12:07And much like I talked about Mo having Bret Hart, I mean, look, Jay Lethal, you know, is a sharp
12:14tactical mind and a great mentor for these guys.
12:16And I see amazing things for this trio.
12:21Subculture and Danny Luna continue building momentum while the situation between Danny Luna and Giselle Shaw became physical tonight.
12:28Has that rivalry crossed the line from competition to something personal?
12:34I mean, I think crossed the lines from another company, but I'll let you get away with it.
12:40I mean, this is wrestling.
12:42You cross the line on a daily basis.
12:46And Danny Luna and Giselle Shaw have a long history.
12:49These two know each other.
12:51They've been in the ring against each other before.
12:54And Danny Luna, I think, is one of the best young talents.
12:57Like Danny Luna, who, you know, again, as an athlete, I had an opportunity to sign, you know, years ago
13:04to a U.S. company, you know, to TNA Wrestling.
13:06And I think she's a great young athlete.
13:11She reminds me of another young athlete I signed when they were very young, Jordan Grace.
13:16I think she's a powerhouse.
13:18I think she's focused.
13:21She's dedicated.
13:23She knows where she wants to be, and she wants to be at the top.
13:26And Danny Luna's held gold before.
13:29You know, she's a multi-time, I believe, TNA Tag Team Champion.
13:32She's a multiple-time champion in Europe.
13:35And I think now that she's in MLP, and we're stoked to have her here, she's got her sights on
13:40the prize that any female in MLP should be looking at.
13:45And that's the MLP Canadian Women's Championship.
13:50So, I can't wait to see this one, you know, and how it progresses.
13:55You can kind of see where it's going.
13:56And, I mean, this clearly is something I think I've got to get back with the team.
14:00We've got to be looking, you know, Danny Luna has to be in serious contention for a championship wherever she
14:05goes.
14:06Her performance was impressive.
14:08And I think it's time to see, just to start looking to see, you know, when we can match these
14:16two up.
14:17Got to ask about Rohan Raja successfully defending the Champions Grail tonight,
14:22and Stu Grayson accepting the challenge for a title versus title match.
14:26How significant is that moment for Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling?
14:29Yeah, you know, we certainly got episode one of Mayhem, the very first episode, you know, off with a bang
14:37with that parking lot brawl.
14:39We, you know, we say anything can happen in pro wrestling, and we saw that in that first week.
14:45And then Rohan shows up week two, Stu, unfortunately, couldn't get cleared.
14:50He had to sit at home, watch Rohan run his mouth.
14:54I credit Stu Grayson with, I'm sure Stu wanted to jump on Rohan Raja and get him right as soon
15:03as he walked in the door today.
15:04But he did it, you know, for one reason.
15:08His longtime friend, his partner, Ivo Luno, had a signed match and got to go out there and fight Rohan.
15:16And I think Ivo Luno showed why he's such an underrated talent and such an important figure in Canadian wrestling
15:23right now.
15:23As a guy who holds a dual role with AEW, he's a wrestler, he's a guy who worked on their
15:27video game and everything else.
15:28I think that he's a huge contributor here in MLP and for Canadian wrestling.
15:32And I hope fans were truly impressed.
15:35I mean, Uno is definitely the perfect example of don't judge a book by its cover.
15:41Because if you underestimate Uno, you're going to end up on your back for a three count very, very quickly.
15:49To his credit, Rohan Raja didn't have that happen, decided to try to send a message to Stu.
15:55And I would say that the message was received.
15:59Now, after Stu came out and got a little bit of vengeance, you know, accepting that we were all gung
16:06ho for, you know, doing Rohan Raja versus Stu Grayson.
16:12Stu's little twist there about it being title for title is that throws me a little bit for a loop.
16:18And I think we've got to discuss that.
16:20We haven't talked about unifying titles and that type of situation, whether this would be a unification, whether it would
16:28make Stu or Rohan, whoever walks out of this match the winner, a dual champion.
16:34But I think we've got to go back and take a look at that.
16:37But I think it's clear after Mayhem this week that there's a collision course with Stu Grayson and Rohan Raja.
16:47And I'm going to have to go back. We're going to have to talk about it and put something together
16:50for that and see what we can make happen.
16:54Stu Grayson and Rohan Raja are like two completely different visions for the face of MLP should look like.
17:00Has this rivalry become bigger than the championships themselves?
17:06I don't think one's necessarily bigger than the other.
17:10I think the personal grudge, this wasn't started over a dispute over a parking spot.
17:22This wasn't started over who was going to get the best seats to go see the big game.
17:29This was started over professional wrestling. This was started over MLP.
17:32This was started because Rohan Raja takes it personally that he feels he's not getting his due and that Stu
17:39unjustly is getting his flowers.
17:42So I don't think you can separate the two because the personal issue is a direct result of the championships,
17:50of both of them wanting to be the best.
17:52We have such an interesting situation here in that, you know, we don't talk about it a lot right now
17:59because, you know, out of sight, out of mind.
18:01But the MLP, you know, men's Canadian champion is Josh Alexander.
18:07In an interim, Stu stepped up and outlasted a bunch of other guys to become the interim champion.
18:14And he's carried that title proudly. He's defended it strongly, not just in MLP, but he's been going out there
18:21and we've been sanctioning matches in other places because he wants to defend the title in Canada.
18:26And I think that he's definitely staked a claim to being the best in MLP.
18:29And I know I saw Josh Alexander. He was backstage and I needled him a little bit that I mean,
18:36look at that guy there, you know, bald head, you know, beard, great wrestler, multifaceted.
18:46You know, I don't know. Do we need you anymore, Josh?
18:50You know, and he kind of smirked and he said, when I'm back, we'll see. You'll see.
18:56And had a good chuckle. So, look, I think it's kind of a neat situation.
19:01You've got two guys in a void. When there's a void created, somebody's going to step into it.
19:06Stu stepped into it and filled that void by winning the interim championship.
19:11Rohan Raja, in his mind, if you recall, he won the champion's grail, you know, the first weekend of MLP
19:20and has held it this entire time.
19:23So, he feels a little overlooked, like, you know, he's probably, I think he's sitting there going, hey, yeah, yeah,
19:28Stu won that match and, you know, lasted those guys and won a title.
19:31Great. I've been champion here for a year and a half. And let's recognize that.
19:37So, I think it's an interesting situation. I think to one of the questions earlier about chaos, this is going
19:43to be a little chaotic.
19:44And I think, like I said, me and the team have to go back and look and see what we're
19:48going to do about that and we'll address it in the near future.
19:52Now that we're three episodes into Mayhem, whose stock is rising the fastest inside the company right now?
20:00I mean, I think there's so many people vying for recognition and opportunity.
20:08I think Subculture has been unbelievable, but I don't think you can be surprised by that.
20:12They're former world tag team champions. I think Danny Luna is part of Subculture. I think an outstanding woman.
20:18I think credit to, like I said, Stu Grayson has stepped up. I mean, there's no question this guy's a
20:23champion.
20:23It's almost a shame that we have to put the term interim in front of his title because he's shown
20:30he's championship caliber.
20:32And I think we've been super honored to have Stu represent MLP right now.
20:38I think Rohan Raja is somebody who is definitely on an unbelievable run.
20:44You know, you look at it. I thought that the luchadors, you know, in their time so far, I mean,
20:51look, everybody knows how good Mascarada Dorada is.
20:53But Capitan Suicida, I think, is with him step for step.
20:58So I think the fact that we can feature talent from from all over the world here in MLP, I
21:03think, is huge.
21:04And I think we're, you know, we've now got three weeks in the books.
21:07So one of the earlier questions where I was talking about time slipping away, 25% of our season is
21:14now officially over here.
21:15We have nine episodes until Northern Rising October 3rd.
21:20We now know, cheap plug, that Adam Copeland's going to be there.
21:24I can't say it enough. October 3rd at Maple Leaf Gardens.
21:27I think everybody has to start looking around and go, OK, this is MLP.
21:33This is about Canada.
21:34But they know that we're going to put the very best in the in the top spots.
21:40And now you see Adam Copeland's coming in. That's going to take a spot.
21:44You know, you've got guys like Subculture.
21:46You've got the guys from CMLL and the Luchadors and Capitan Suicida and that coming in here.
21:51And you start going, geez, am I going to get squeezed out?
21:53So I think there's been a lot of impressive showings so far.
21:59Like I said, obviously, tip my hat to Giselle Shaw.
22:03She's been a champion now for for over a year and defended it consistently.
22:08I think there's a lot of people buying.
22:10And I think we've got nine weeks to find out who's going to be the most impressive.
22:14It's one thing like it's, you know, you always know those those players.
22:19There's the people that come out of the blocks early in the season in the fall.
22:23And they'll put 10, 10, 11 pucks in the net early in the season.
22:26And they're the ones that fall by the wayside when we get into those gritty like playoff contention games.
22:33I think it's great to be impressive in the beginning.
22:36What I'm really interested to see is who's going to be impressive as we walk in and out of Northern
22:41Rising.
22:43I'd really like to hear your thoughts on PCEO and what he had to say this evening.
22:47He said, I will destroy what's left of me so the world never forgets my name.
22:52What did he mean by that?
22:56Many years ago, I met a guy named Pierre Carl.
23:01And he was one of the nicest, sweetest, most enjoyable human beings to be around.
23:10You know, that Pierre Carl or Carl, as I knew him, has evolved over time.
23:17And I think evolved out of necessity.
23:19If you think about it, this PCO was born, was created because the wrestling world forgot about Pierre Carl.
23:28The wrestling world forgot about Carl Ouellette.
23:33And I think Carl made a decision years ago that he was going to be remembered at all costs.
23:41And, you know, I remember when I first heard, you know, about the name change to PCEO.
23:46Because, you know, the PCEO was Pierre Carl Ouellette.
23:50And I was like, oh, okay.
23:52And then, with time, that PCEO changed to be Perfect Creation 1.
23:56And I didn't even know what it was when I first was like, oh, that's weird.
23:59And then I saw it and I was like, oh, that's interesting.
24:02And monitoring Carl's, PCO's trajectory over the last many years has been a really interesting situation.
24:15Not speaking out of class here.
24:21PCO is, you know, a senior member of the wrestling community.
24:27He's been around a long time.
24:29There's a lot of rings on that tree, as we used to say, right?
24:33He's one of the older guys in the business.
24:37We thought years ago that PCO was probably going to be,
24:42I was like, well, this is probably the year.
24:44This has got to be the year.
24:45It's one of those things, like, when you look at it and you watch a guy, like, you know,
24:49who's at the tail end of his career and you keep going, well, you know,
24:52he's got to be starting to think about wrapping it up.
24:54But then PCO goes out and does something, just like all the greats do,
24:57to keep him there.
24:59So I think it's, and we have this conflict internally here where does there come a time
25:07where you have to protect an athlete from themselves?
25:10And we've had that conversation a few times about PCO.
25:14But as you've seen, PCO's driven.
25:17And as he said, like, he's on a mission to make sure he's never going to be forgotten.
25:22And he's provided some memorable moments in wrestling.
25:26So I look at PCO this way.
25:28I mean, when you put together a roster, you want to have a variety of people.
25:32And we have so much young, hungry talent.
25:36I think it's great to have, you know, veteran presence.
25:39I think that's the type of veteran presence that Billy Gunn brings in a certain way.
25:45And I think in a different way, PCO brings an equally important veteran presence.
25:52PCO's a lunatic.
25:54He creates moments by doing things that I think normal people, you know,
25:59arguably sane people wouldn't attempt.
26:02And if you watched, you know, Resurrection in Montreal last year, you saw some of those moments.
26:08So I think, you know, we like having PCO around to push these guys.
26:12And we always like to say we like to put athletes in uncomfortable positions and see how they react.
26:18PCO is great at doing that.
26:19And I think that's good to strengthen our roster.
26:21And I think as a guy who's, you know, expelled so much sweat, has bled so much blood,
26:30and given so much to this industry, that PCO gets a chance.
26:34I think he's earned the right to write his own ending.
26:39And I hope that there's something that it's, I was talking with somebody the other day,
26:44and I always say everything in life can relate to a Rocky movie.
26:47And I keep waiting to see if there's going to come a day where PCO can put to rest that
26:54stuff in the basement.
26:55In the meantime, we'll see what type of craziness he comes up with on Mayhem.
27:00With the rivalry escalating between Rohan Raja and Stu Grayson,
27:04Danny Luna and Giselle Shah getting more personal by the week,
27:08and now new personalities continuing to emerge,
27:11what storyline are you most interested in seeing unfold from here?
27:15I mean, I guess the simple answer is all of them.
27:19I mean, I think we're three weeks in, and I want to say only three weeks in,
27:24but like I said earlier, we're 25% of the way through the season.
27:28So I want to see them all develop.
27:30We've got nine weeks on the road to Northern Rising.
27:35And, you know, I think that what you mentioned, I mean, Stu and Rohan, like I said,
27:38we're going to go back, we're going to meet on that,
27:39and we're going to see what we do about Stu's challenging Rohan title for title,
27:46and get our thoughts on that.

28:37I don't think it was coincidence that he bumped into Psycho Mike.
28:41I don't think that, you know, like I don't put it past Jay to have orchestrated the entire thing
28:45and then to use it as a mental advantage going into tonight's match.
