00:00You know, Michael Thorne Bjornsson is a player who's led the greens and regulation stat last year on the PGA
00:05Tour.
00:06This year, he's up there as well.
00:08When you think about how you coach a player like Michael, who's maybe a little bit similar to, you know,
00:16a Scotty Shuffle, right?
00:17This is a guy who's going to be in a lot of fairways, a lot of greens.
00:20And necessarily when Michael goes and looks at his his putting statistics, he may get frustrated being like, you know
00:28what?
00:28I feel like I'm a better putter than 115th in the strokes game data.
00:33But is it working against him a little bit that he's got so many more looks of outside 20 feet,
00:39give or take, because he hits so many greens and regulation?
00:42Is that tough on you as a coach sometimes?
00:47I think, yeah, yes and no.
00:48You know, we we obviously were excited to kind of scrub the stats and go into this season pretty fresh
00:55and sort of get a, you know,
00:57we've we've done a good body of work over the winter and sort of see where can we get to
01:02stats wise.
01:04And then, you know, he came off a great week in Phoenix, went to Pebble, pretty tired.
01:10And he just had a really, really bad week on the greens and Pebble.
01:15Hey, not the first guy.
01:16Not the first guy.
01:17He's not the first guy at all.
01:20I never putt those greens well.
01:22To the point that he basically ruined his season's stats with just like one like crazy bad week.
01:30So that was that was a little bit unfortunate for his stats.
01:33And, you know, we've talked about it like he's putted much better than his stats would suggest that he's putted
01:41based on the fact that, you know, he he then followed it up with another bad week at the PGA
01:46at up there in Philadelphia.
01:50Which was another tough week.
01:51Guys were like that statistically weren't making as many putts inside of 10 feet.
01:55So there's two weeks that you can kind of just throw out the trashes, you know, unusual weeks that these
02:01guys don't typically face.
02:02Not not giving an excuse, but it's also something that was well documented that week particular.
02:07Exactly.
02:08So, you know, I mean, I think for good players, you always know when you're putting good, when you're putting
02:14bad, regardless of what the stats say.
02:16And he's been putting good for a long time.
02:20And, you know, you just have these anomalies that kind of statistically, you know, kind of block block your scorecard
02:28a little bit.
02:28But, you know, the short putting has been phenomenal.
02:35He's really done well there.
02:36And the speed, we've done a lot of work on trying to negate like the three putts.
02:44And then, you know, just like you said, because he gives himself so many looks, you know, day in, day
02:50out.
02:50It's it's just it's hard to convert them from from from that distance, especially when you're dealing with with so
02:57much slope from 20 feet all the time, you know.
02:59Mm hmm.
03:00No, that makes total sense.
03:01And I can understand why you guys would target speed, because it's not easy percentage wise to make putts outside
03:07of 10 feet, give or take.
03:09Also commend you guys looked at the stats, the four to eight feet range, much improved in 2026.
