00:00And then Jordan, it was so fun listening to his interview.
00:03It's always a great interview.
00:04Of course, if he wins this week, he would complete the Grand Slam.
00:07He said, you know, you kind of treat this week as one that you just show up trying not to
00:12win.
00:12You just try to, you know, execute one shot after another.
00:15But, you know, he wants to be in contention.
00:18Just give himself a chance.
00:19I don't think he's really had a chance to win yet this year.
00:23He was in the last couple of groups in Doral and had gotten off to a great start.
00:28And in Doral, like being right around the lead, but never really gave himself an opportunity coming down the back
00:34nine to really, truly have a chance to win.
00:36So that's asking a lot, I think, at this point.
00:40You know, just to give yourself, I think if he gives himself a chance, he can definitely go out and
00:45win.
00:45But can he get himself into that position, I think would be my biggest question marks.
00:49And he's also, he called it whack-a-mole with his game.
00:53And he said he's, you know, he's been leading in strokes getting off the tee or approach or around the
01:00green and putting at some point at every event this year.
01:03But then he's also had one part of his game really let himself, you know, not really not allow himself
01:09to compete and be in contention where you've seen a lot of finishes in that, you know, 10 to 30
01:16range.
01:16And not to say it's poor by any means, but it's just not to the level that he thinks he
01:21can get to.
01:22So that would be something I would watch with Jordan is can you find a way to put it all
01:26together?
01:26I think it's a good golf course for him.
01:28He likes the way he's driving it, which I think is really, really important.
01:31He has that added length, low 180s ball speed when he needs it.
01:36And I think it will come down to, for Jordan, is the putter.
01:41With some slopey, pitchy greens, he's been looking more at the hole inside of five, six feet.
01:46And at times it looks a little kind of timid.
01:50Can you putt freely?
01:51Can you putt freely inside of six feet?
01:53If he's able to do that and make those momentum putts, that's the key for Jordan.
01:58Keeping momentum, keeping the bogeys off the card, keeping the volatility of the whack-a-mole away.
02:03It does feel, though, that if there is going to be a place where he's going to play well, it's
02:09– I remember, again, a few years ago on the show, him talking about he doesn't like driving range 7
02:14-iron.
02:15He doesn't like a straight putt.
02:16And that there might be something about, you know, the nature of a Donald Ross golf course, the rolling nature
02:23of the land, not getting a ton of flat lies, and, you know, having some tricky putts that just seems
02:28to wake up the Jordan Spieth competitive sort of mindset.
02:31I think he's going to play well.
02:33I think they're all actually going to have good weeks.
02:36I think if you want to know where his headspace is at, he was asked in his press conference about
02:41using an analogy of grilling meat to describe the process of working on getting a swing back.
02:46And the beginning of his answer was, I was just kind of thinking, I was smoking chicken in the fall
02:49on a big smoker I have, and it got up to 155 quickly, and then it takes a while.
02:53I was like, man, this kind of feels like what I'm trying to do in the swing.
02:56The meat stalls.
02:56The meat stalls.
02:57Yeah.
02:57It stalls a little bit.
02:59So they're grilling meat and Jordan Spieth's swing, and the same sort of breath there.
