The People Allah Turned Into Apes

What happens when people knowingly try to outsmart Allah's command?

Allah tested a community from the Children of Israel by forbidding fishing on the Sabbath. Fish appeared in abundance on the Sabbath but disappeared on other days. Instead of obeying, some devised a trick to catch them without "technically" fishing on the forbidden day.

They believed they had deceived the command of Allah—but nothing is hidden from Him.

As a consequence of their persistent disobedience, Allah said:

"Be apes, despised."
(Qur'an 2:65)

This powerful Qur'anic account reminds us that Allah judges not only our actions but also our intentions. True obedience means submitting sincerely, not searching for loopholes around His commands.

Qur'anic References:

Qur'an 2:65
Qur'an 5:60
Qur'an 7:163–166

May Allah grant us sincerity, steadfastness, and protect us from knowingly disobeying His commands. Ameen.
