00:00It has been a pretty horrifying weekend in parts of Spokane, Washington, as the Old Trails Fire and others have
00:08been impacting neighborhoods.
00:10Over 700 homes and structures have been damaged or destroyed by fire, and 60,000-plus people evacuated.
00:17Still a lot of fire activity in the Pacific Northwest. You can see some dense smoke in parts of Washington,
00:22Oregon, pockets of Utah, and certainly Idaho, as well as southwest Montana.
00:26We're going to continue to see very high fire risk all this week, even into this coming weekend, across especially
00:33the interior northwest, east of the Cascades through the Northern Rockies.
00:38Big concerns here. The thickest smoke will remain in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and southwest parts of Montana into Wednesday.
00:46Then there will be a slight shift a little farther east into the high plains of eastern Montana, even, Thursday
00:52and Friday.
00:52But the smoke remains thick in the interior northwest, and we're going to be dealing with some big-time heat,
00:57as well.
00:57This is on the fringe of a heat dome. Very low humidity, an active breeze at times.
01:02And we've got some record-challenging highs in parts of California, Colorado, Nevada, over the next few days into the
01:08interior northwest, as well.
