00:04The Pittsburgh Pirates, with all of that hitting and all of that pitching,
00:08they lose four out of five games this week to Arizona and Cincinnati.
00:13Now they came back Saturday and they won.
00:15Skeeds did not look good Friday night.
00:19Their playoff odds, Tom, this is the biggest drop of the week
00:22in terms of playoff odds, and the Nationals dropped too.
00:25But Pittsburgh dropped significantly this week to under 30%.
00:30I thought, Tom, they were in the best position
00:33to capture one of those final wildcard spots.
00:36But if Skeens isn't Skeens, I don't even know if I feel the same way about the team.
00:42And they lost Ryan O'Hearn, if I'm not mistaken, for four to six weeks.
00:46Are the Pirates going to try and make that up here?
00:49Because I got news for you, Tom.
00:51If they don't, this is going to be a massive organizational change
00:56in the offseason if they fall short of the playoffs.
00:59It really has to be.
01:00And when you're looking at a team, they are second in the league
01:04in terms of run score.
01:05Second in the league in terms of run score.
01:07And say, okay, teams are there plenty.
01:08They have horrible pitching.
01:10The Pirates actually have a positive run differential.
01:12And they're not going to make the playoffs.
01:14That would be a huge problem.
01:16And I'm not saying that the Pirates were some lock to make the playoffs
01:19or the Pirates have been some super well-run organization in past years.
01:24But they need to remedy this.
01:26And they're obviously running out of time because of the deadline.
01:28If they make no moves, I think that's them folding.
01:31I don't think they can sustain what they've been doing thus far.
01:34They can't continue that for another two months, essentially.
01:36Losing O'Hearn, Skeens not being at a top level.
01:40And not making moves, I think, is folding to the fan base.
01:44I think that's what it indicates.
01:45You're just not willing to take the shot this year
01:47and at least try and make the postseason for once.
01:50I still do like Camilo Duvall.
01:52So I do like that trade.
01:53And maybe in Pittsburgh, he'll be better than he was in New York.
01:56But, and by the way, I won't indict Pittsburgh if they win 83 games
02:00and don't make the playoffs.
02:02But if they finish under 500 or something like that,
02:04like that would be a very disappointing season.
