Craig Jones investigates one of the most serious true crime stories in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
I expected another famous BJJ coach scandal. What emerged were allegations far more serious than we ever anticipated.
The man facing these allegations is Melqui Galvão, a Manaus civil police investigator and the coach behind a “miracle” kids BJJ social project celebrated for years.
This film follows three connected stories:
• the 2011 K*****g of Fernando Pontes, an unarmed man, in front of his family
• the use of a social project alleged to have abused children for more than 13 years
• connections to the 2007 M****r of a young mother, Sarah Lima D’Souza — a case in which police reportedly received a note predicting how she would die
Same city. Same protection machine. Same man named across the record.
The project produced world champions, including Mica Galvão. This film draws a hard line: there is no evidence Mica was involved in his father’s alleged crimes. He is treated here as a witness to a childhood he did not choose.
Built from court material, seized phone recordings, national broadcast footage, survivor testimony, and on-record investigation with media, legal, and victim approval before release.
