00:00So, Joe, do you believe that you guys have to do a better job in the industry at marketing the
00:05younger fan base, like the younger crowd?
00:08You know, because, again, like you just said, it's so competitive right now.
00:12Plus, you have betting now.
00:13You can do it from all types of apps.
00:16How is that being kind of like, you know, brought into the thoroughbred industry?
00:21There's so many ways that you can gamble now with these apps.
00:24You don't really have to go anywhere any longer.
00:27Is that played a factor as well?
00:30Well, I think, you know, with the off-track business being what it is, I mean, great.
00:35We're making a lot of money from it.
00:38But, you know, I'm a people person.
00:41I think that, I mean, I came out of showbiz years ago.
00:46I was born into it, even was in a couple of movies.
00:49But I think that the fact that, you know, you can put on a show here beyond just the racing,
00:55but make it attractive, have great food,
00:59have things going on.
01:00You know, we did the concert series for a while.
01:02That brought a lot of people in, although it was expensive.
01:06But, you know, you've got to create an atmosphere that just doesn't say racing.
01:10It says fun.
01:11And, you know, we've got a lot of pretty people walking around here in the crowd.
01:15And it's, you know, it's a great place to be, even if you don't, you know, if you don't ride
01:20a regular racetracker.
01:22No, you know, and I actually went to that series where you were bringing Axe in there.
01:27I saw Ice Cube there at Del Mar, and we saw a couple other events there at Del Mar there.
01:33That was really wild there.
01:34So you're using the facility kind of like the NFL guys are, not just for football.
01:39You're using the facility for other ways on being able to bring some more income into Del Mar racing, right?
01:47So you're adding more events.
01:49I know that you had the fair out there.
01:50You do a lot of other things there, too.
01:52But kind of like what the NFL does with their stadiums, adding more events, right?
01:58Well, I think, you know, I think the days of just everybody go there, you know, there's no TV.
02:03You go there and sit on a wooden stair.
02:05I remember going to all those Hollywood star baseball games back in the day.
02:09But, yeah, I think it's you have to tell yourself you're in the entertainment business, not just the racing business
02:16or the baseball business.
02:18I think I think that's that's absolutely necessary in this particular market that we're seeing across the country.
02:25People want to be entertained.
02:26They want to have fun.
02:28They want good food.
02:29They want, you know, to see pretty people and all that kind of stuff.
02:33If you can get a few stars going.
02:35So it may you got you got to think broader than just your product.
