00:19Pete Golden at the SEC meetings in Tampa was talking about what Lane Kiffin and some of them were saying
00:25that tampering and going on and recruiting some of the players off of other people.
00:30And he made the comment here.
00:32The Ole Miss coach accused of tampering this offseason, essentially defended tampering and calling out, he says, the hypocrisy in
00:41a broken system.
00:42He's exactly right.
00:44Are you under the impression now when you have nil and transfer portal that you think there's ethics when it
00:51comes to building a roster?
00:52When you're talking about the amount of money that's being generated in college football today, look at the salaries of
00:59these coaches.
00:59Look at the revenue that's being generated by these television networks today.

01:08Integrity went out the window when it comes to college recruiting years ago.

01:18And we're seeing the ugly side of nil in college sports today.

01:29that you thought that there wasn't going to be collateral damage when it came to people gambling, money being spent,
01:38nil, and how much money if a kid can make here at Ole Miss or LSU?
01:42Why do you think Lane Kiffin left in the middle of a college football playoff run?

01:49More money.
01:50Had nothing to do with integrity.
01:53Had everything to do with salary.
01:56Lane Kiffin's trying to tell everyone, well, you know I have a better chance to win a national championship at

02:04But at the end of the day, you left those kids in a lurch, dude.
02:08You're talking about going to a place because they give you a better opportunity to make more money and to

02:22The teams that spend the most money are going to be the teams that win national championships.

02:41How do you think the Indiana Hoosiers ended up winning a national championship?

03:04You see these schools in Texas now.
03:06They're going to be spending money hand over fist to get the best college recruits into their place.

03:15They're going to spend this year $56 million on a roster for college football.
03:23Put that in context.
03:25The Tampa Bay Rays spent $87 million on their baseball roster, and that's a professional baseball team.
03:33You're talking about the University of Texas spending over $50 million to go out and try to win themselves a
03:41national championship.
03:42Same thing with Ohio State.
03:44Ohio State's money right now.
03:47Listen, when you're talking recruiting and you're talking about a system that's broken, of course it's broken.
03:53Look, if I'm a kid that's a second team player at the University of Miami, and somebody calls me from
04:00Ole Miss and says, hey, Dan, I hear you're making $100,000 there at the University of Miami.
04:05I'm going to pay you $750,000 to come and play here at Ole Miss and Oxford.
04:10Would you do it?
04:11Hell yeah, I would do it.
04:14Loyalty to these programs, you show me loyalty, and you look at guys like Lane Kiffin.
04:21Look at all the coaches that leave for better jobs.
04:25Kids nowadays, and this is what they don't like, they don't like the players have the opportunity to do the
04:32same thing.
04:32Now, do I think there needs to be guardrails?
04:35Absolutely.
04:36And to Coach Golden's credit, it is a broken system.
04:39How do you fix it?
04:41I don't think you can.
04:42There's only one way.
04:44We brought this up weeks ago.
04:45You know how you can change it?
04:47All the money that you make, you're going to have to have a salary cap.
04:51You're going to have to have a situation where you're sharing and profit sharing.
04:55You know why the NFL is the number one sport in America?
04:59Because they share their revenue.
05:01That's every single team in the NFL.
05:04Well, college football's never going to do that.
05:06You have haves and have-nots.
05:09And the more we get into this, when it comes to spending money and transfer portal and recruiting,
05:16the more and more you're going to see stories like this.
05:19Of course, people are tampering.
05:21They're looking for the best opportunity to win a national title.
05:25And college football, again, it's off the rails right now.
05:29But what did you expect when you opened up the floodgates?
