00:00How about this?
00:01So we officially know where LeBron is heading.
00:06He's going to Philadelphia.
00:07He's going to be joining the Sixers on a two-year, $8 million deal
00:12with a player option, according to Rich Paul from Shamskarania.
00:17Better win.
00:17And so he's going to be playing in Philadelphia with the 76ers.
00:20What does that mean for the Wizards?
00:22What does that mean for Anthony Davis?
00:24But I'm Toby Altizer with breaking news on the fans.
00:28So there you have it, B-Mitch.
00:30We've been waiting for this ball to drop.
00:32We finally got it.
00:32This is a good place for them.
00:35Don't go there messing around.
00:36Yeah.
00:37They're going to check him.
00:38That's for certain.
00:40Yeah.
00:40I will say, so Shams posted this.
00:43If you'd like to react to the breaking news, 800-636-1067.
00:46LeBron's going to Philly.
00:48We'll get back into some training camp discussion a little bit later.
00:50But LeBron's going to Philly.
00:53Seeing the picture that he posted with a Photoshop of LeBron in the Sixers
00:57uniform, which looks like a throwback Sixers uni.
01:00That looks weird, man.
01:03It looks weird.
01:05And it'll be interesting to see what they're able to do.
01:08I mean, they've got some pieces.
01:11They're not going to be able to do much if Embiid stays hurt.
01:14Yeah.
01:15Point blank.
01:15Yeah.
01:16I mean, where did you end up?
01:18Where did you expect him to go versus did you expect him to end up in Philly?
01:22I didn't have a clue.
01:23I didn't know.
01:24But I still, I know Shams did this.
01:27I still believe he was trying to get Kyrie or Davis to go with him too.
01:31Yeah.
01:32And that's not.
01:32I believe that.
01:33That's not likely to happen at this point.
01:34I just saw a report pop up that said he was definitely trying to get a reunite.
01:40Unite a reunion, reunion, reunion, reunification with Kyrie in Cleveland.
01:49Yeah.
01:50I believe he was trying that.
01:51It sounds like it.
01:53I mean, but when it came out, he shied away from it.
01:55I'm kind of surprised.
01:56We just got a random announcement from Shams.
02:01Didn't you think this would be played up a little more?
02:03No, because Shams went to bed, went to bat for him yesterday.
02:08Well, no, he's not trying to do that.
02:11And the whole time he was talking, I felt like this is a guy who's talking to get another story.
02:18You know what I'm saying?
02:19Yeah.
02:19I mean, I'm just, I'm not surprised that Shams is the one that has it.
02:22I thought LeBron would try to be.
02:25I think this thing played its way after Miami had the little slip up.
02:30And then all the stuff popped out yesterday.
02:32I think what he wanted to do, he couldn't do anymore.
02:35And he said, let's just get this over with.
02:37Because they had already prolonged it.
02:41So last year, the Sixers were 45 and 37.
02:44And they showed some real growth.
02:46They got some young guys that are going to be a lot of fun to watch for a while.
02:49Tyrese Maxey being one of their.
02:50They got Jalen Brown in there now, right?
02:52Yeah.
02:53You got Vijay Edgecombe, Kelly Oubre.
02:57They're going to be a fun team to watch.
03:01But it's interesting to see LeBron go there.
03:04Because whenever LeBron shows up to a team, he is the sun, the moon, and the stars.
03:09Everything revolves around him.
03:10I think he got some strong-willed guys there, too.
03:14NBA going to want to do his thing.
03:15And Jalen Brown is not backing down for nobody.
03:17He's not going to be a second fielder for nobody.
03:18No.
03:19I mean, this is going to be a fun team to watch, honestly.
03:23Now, how far will they be able to go in the East?
03:25That's another question.
03:27But, I mean, they've got to be one of the favorites to take the Eastern Conference now, right?
03:32Last year, Detroit was the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.
03:37And no one felt like they were that strong of a one seed.
03:40Boston was the two seed.
03:41The Knicks, obviously, the reigning champs will be someone you have to get past.
03:45But even them, it's not like they intimidated a lot of people, even though they're a good basketball team.
03:51I think the Sixers with LeBron, Jalen Brown, that dynamic duo, depending upon what Embiid does, you can have that
03:58trio if he's able to stay healthy.
04:00That puts you right near the top of the Eastern Conference.
04:03You think?
04:03You would think so.
04:05You know?
04:06But we'll have to say that.
04:07Let him play.
04:09Because you said if Embiid stays healthy, that's a big if.
04:13Yeah, well, that's for certain.
04:14And I think the interesting part here is with him going to the Sixers and no other sort of moves
04:21being corroborated with it for the time being,
04:25sounds like Anthony Davis is sticking around here.
04:27Sounds like Kyrie ain't going anywhere.
04:29So if that's the case, maybe LeBron didn't get his wish and just finally said, screw it, I'm going to
04:34go to Philadelphia.
04:34Yeah, that could be it.
04:37800-636-1067 if you'd like to hop in.
04:40What do you make of LeBron going to Philadelphia and what do you think this means for the Wizards and
04:45Anthony Davis?
04:46David Aldridge going to join the program coming up at noon.
04:49I already had him scheduled, but what a day to have DA on the show.
04:51We'll talk about LeBron with him.
04:53You look at where their roster is, and this could be a fun little run for LeBron on his way
05:03out.
05:03When you look at the guys that he has on this team, he doesn't have to run the show.
05:10Now, he's going to because it's LeBron, but if he's willing to play a little deferential to guys like Jalen
05:17Brown,
05:17like Tyrese Maxey, he doesn't have to shoulder the entire load.
05:24Maybe that's why he chose that team.
05:26Maybe.
05:27I mean, because we kind of expected him to sign a cheap contract, right?
05:31And he did.
05:31He signed a two-year player option, $8 million deal.
05:35So, that's nothing.
05:37That's basically the minimum for him.
05:40I think he's chasing a ring one more time.
05:42We'll see if the Sixers are able to get to that point.
05:46But LeBron can still play.
05:48Now, he doesn't play much defense at this point in his career, but he can still play.
05:53Oh, yeah.
05:54Yeah, he can.
05:56Another year older, though.
05:57We'll see.
05:58Well, and that's the thing.
05:59I mean, it's a two-year with a player option.
06:03Do you think this is the last ride?
06:05So, he's going to have a choice to play another year after this one, if he wants.
06:12It's still cheap regardless.
06:15But he's someone, if you look at his stats from last season and what he was able to do,
06:21again, it's not like he gives much effort defensively at this point.
06:25But last year, he averaged 21 points, six boards, seven assists,
06:31shot 51.5% from the field.
06:34Like, he still is a really effective basketball player who can do a lot.
06:39He's going to go into, I believe this will be his age 42 season.
06:43Yep.
06:44But, I mean, he can fill up a stat sheet.
06:46But the whole question is not filling up a stat sheet.
06:49He's winning basketball games.
06:50Can he be that guy that, I know he's with a team with a lot better talent,
06:55but is he still a guy who can close out games for you?
06:58And you mentioned it.
07:00On the defensive side, he basically don't exist anymore.
07:04What do you think his motivation is to continue playing?
07:08I mean, obviously, he wants to win a championship.
07:10As long as you still have the energy to do it,
07:12and you think you're better than other people, you keep playing.
07:15And if people keep signing you, you keep getting checks.
07:19I'm just kind of surprised that I figured he'd play this year for sure.
07:23So, it's not shocking that he's back for another year.
07:25Well, having two years, it makes it more, you know, team-friendly
07:28how they can work stuff for them.
07:31Yeah.
07:31So, it's just, I don't know.
07:34I kind of assumed he was going to go back to one of his previous stops,
07:37whether that was going to be Cleveland or Miami.
07:39He ends up in Philadelphia with the Sixers,
07:41and that's going to be a really fun team to watch.
07:43We'll see how it goes, baby.
07:45You look at their starting lineup going into next year.
07:50Tyrese Maxey, Vijay Edgecombe, Jalen Brown, LeBron, Joel Embiid.
07:53Again, assuming health.
07:54It looks good.
07:55That is a really good lineup.
07:57I mean, I don't see how you don't think they're the best team in the East
08:00immediately with LeBron stepping in there.
